I think I know the answer: Spike is an Americanism for stiletto (ie. the same thing) Stiletto simpy reflects the thin dagger like shame of the high heel. Americans have taken this and called it a spike.

Mistress Marina - 9 inch shoes at work? Don't know how you do it. Must be uncomfortable. People always comment on my 5 or 6 inches being high. I dread to think what they say to you?

As a woman who runs her own company I wear heels all the time. My heels are a bit outrageous..from 5 inches to 9 inches. I am most comfortable with 6 or 7 inches for everyday. As for other ladies on my staff I let them know just look professional,businesslike. I encourage big heels for interview but please I know some ladies do not walk all that great so practice your walking befor the interview

Never done plastic myself. Do your feet not tend to get very hot in anything but leather? Am I being too practical?

Anyone else out there ever have problems with the clasp of their ankle chain tearing your tights or stockings? Any clever ideas?

I normally wear quite high heels yes. My feet have problems in lower/flat heels. I normally go for metal tips just for practical reasons to be honest (they last longer).

Do you normally wear heels that are quite high, or an unusual style, or is it just that the noise of the metal tips acts like a magnet?

I must admit that I can hear the noise of metal heel tips from a long way away, and it always make me look.

Back to the original question... Of COURSE guys always look at my heels when I'm walking. It's natural when a woman walks down the road with the clicking of the metal tips, that this attracts attention. Men always look when you have a little leg showing!! Do you anyone that doesn't?
