  1. Spikesmike and I had been emailing back and forth for the past couple of weeks, getting to know each other a little better. We agreed to meet for supper this past Tuesday at a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, not far from his home. We both arrived a little earlier than the planned time of 6 pm. Mike was sitting and waiting for me and easy to recognize. He was wearing pointy toed 5 3/4" black stiletto boots with brass spurs, white jeans, and a red polo shirt. I was in a brand new pair of Naturalizer Vitality pumps (3" high, thicker heels, see photo) black stay-up stockings (A1010 from Comfilon.com ), denim jeans, and a dark green polo shirt. We shook hands, went to the hostess and were shown to our table, all the way in the back of the restaurant. I walked first, and I could hear Mike's spurs jingle, even over the roar of the noise in the restaurant. We had a good meal and got to know each other a lot better. We talked about our early interests in heels, our relationships with spouses, the frustrations of finding boots and shoes in larger sizes, and lots of other heel-related topics. After we paid the bill we decided to go to someplace quieter where we could talk without screaming, so we went over to Mike's house. He was pleased to show me his enormous collection of heels, mostly custom made boots (ankle, knee high, and thigh high, in black, white and red), custom made heels (pumps, slingbacks, and a few sandals, mostly black white, and red) and quite a few off-the-shelf brands. All were immaculately stored in boxes in his walk-in closet. He had practically nothing that was less than 5" and all were stiletto heels, some as high as 7". Mike let me try on a few pair of 5" heels (which I could hardly stand in, as my foot doesn't flex enough at the toes), and I tried on my first pair of thigh boots - black vinyl ones with pointy toe, stiletto heel, and a LONG zipper. It was an interesting experience! Thighbootguy, I dunno how you do it! Mike and I have very different interests in heels - my heels are mostly 3 to 3 1/2 inches high, thicker block or stacked heels, more masculine styles such as clogs and loafers, and I am much more in stealth mode, covering my shoes with the cuff of my long pants or jeans. Mike is much more obvious and flamboyant, wearing 5" stilettos, boots with jingling spurs, and he is much less inhibited than I am about showing off his footwear. I admire his attitude. He also has a fabulous collection of jewelry and ceramics with a high heel theme. We had a good time getting to know each other that evening. He wanted me to show him how to do some things on the computer (he's a novice) but we didn't have time for that, so we'll have to get together again another time. For those of you who are shy about getting to know other heelers in your area, my advice is don't be. I'm glad I contacted Mike with a private message and we started getting to know each other. He has an outstanding collection of heels back as far as 1962 and keeps them in great shape. He wears everyday in public and is an inspiring guy! Thanks, Mike! Steve

  2. I would vote for Clark's also. They have the best selection and best quality around, in my opinion. They aren't extremely expensive, and you can often find new ones at a discount on Ebay. I have several pairs of 2" and 3" heeled clogs. Born is another brand that you might look at. Same pricing and quality. Steve

  3. G'day, HG, Finding an accepting partner makes life so much better. Sharing, rather than confrontation or secretly hiding your interest in heels, makes for a much closer relationship. You're taking the right approach - go slowly and make sure she's always in her comfort zone. If you push too fast, you could lose her, especially if she has any insecurity issues. We've been to Oz quite a few times in the past decade, on business and pleasure. Been to the Melbourne area quite often and know the territory. I think I'm the only Yank who loves heels and both Vegemite and Slim Dusty! We'll have to arrange to meet on our next trip, but I don't know when that will be yet. The Aussie dollar needs to come WAY down to attract us right now. It's much too strong. Keep posting. I enjoy reading about your heeling adventures. Steve

  4. I've bought and sold hundreds of pairs of shoes on Ebay over the years. Once in a while I encounter a non-paying buyer. It happens, but there isn't much you can do about it. Ebay is good at refunding the fees when it happens. And I never send and goods until I've been paid. Paypal is the best - no hassel with credit cards or lost mail. All in all, I've been pleased with Ebay, and I check for bargains every day. While not everything I buy fits or looks good, if I can't return it, I can usually re-sell it and recover most of my investment. Sometimes I've even made a little profit. Steve

  5. Always sheer pantyhose, opaque tights, stockings or knee highs.

    www.comfilon.com

has lots of different offerings for men's sizes and anatomy.

In the interest of full disclosure, my wife and I own the company. This is not an advertisement, but a service to the men on this board, to let them know that legwear made for their size and shape exists, is reasonably priced, and is readily available. We ship all over the world.

  6. Wearing shoes that are easy to get on and off is the key to getting through security faster. I like clogs for that reason, and Clark's is my favorite brand. I just flew a week ago to St. Louis and back wearing them, and had no problem going through security at all.

In fact, I also wore black pantyhose under my jeans, and the reinforced toe was quite obvious. TSA has seen it all, and they're not interested in odd clothing, they're looking for weapons and explosives.

By the way, the second reviewer of those clogs, GWL, is my former ID on this forum before I changed it to my real name.

  7. I agree with Bubba. Why don't you just select one pair of boots and wear them for the whole outing. And ditch the carrier bag, or use it to carry a pair of flats to change in if your feet hurt. What's the thrill of changing boots so often? I don't get it. Steve

  8. Scrappy, Great shoes! But even better, I see you shaved off your moustache! That's such a better look, in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with a moustache, but I find it extremely masculine, and by pairing it with femme shoes and skirt, the juxtaposition was just too jarring for me. This is a much softer look, and a big improvement, I think. Just my opinion. Steve

  9. Nice outfit, Jeff. I also like the capris better than skirts on you. It's definitely more attractive, especially with heels. Staring doesn't mean disapproval. Nor does frowning. It was apparent that these guys have only two pigeonholes in their heads - one for men and one for women. What was observed didn't quite fit into either hole, and the perplexing frown could have been more of an indication of frustration and not understanding than one of disapproval. Unless you open a conversation and ask what the other person is thinking, you can't know for sure. Capris are fun. I own 3 pair myself and enjoy wearing them! Keep up the good work! Steve

  10. I feel the same way. I have way too many to organize and even though I like them all, some just don't honestly fit very well, and I should get rid of them. But it's so difficult to do! Most of my collection of about 200 pair was acquired via ebay, and not everything you buy sight unseen (or without trying on) is going to fit. But to me, often shoes are works of beautiful art that I have trouble parting with. So it's a tough decision, whether to sell off part of the collection or build a bigger museum! HA HA HA Steve

  11. I think there is going to be more we'll hear about Kris in the future, Mal. Looks like you're still on her radar screen, mate. Do keep us updated! Hope you're well again soon. You can't enjoy your outings when you're feeling crook. Steve

  12. If you remove the sticker and there is still adhesive left on the shoes, you can safely remove the goo with a product called (appropriately enough) "Goo Gone". It's available in most groceries and big box stores. It has a nice citrus smell and won't harm most substances. Steve

  13. I don't know what size you wear, but look at these Clark's Oakham clogs. They're comfortable, with a 3 1/4 inch tapered stacked heel in size 11 and 3 1/2 inch heel in size 12 (women's). They can be worn comfortably with socks, or barefoot, or, as I prefer, with tights, pantyhose, and sheer knee highs. I wear them everywhere with long boot-cut jeans and slacks that come down slightly over the back of the heel. Sorry I don't have any pics. I'll have to try to get some taken.

No one has ever point, laughed, or giggled, and I think very few have ever even noticed. They're unisex. I've even worn them through airports many times. Nobody cares. They're a good choice for flying (under the radar, that is!). My wife is fine with me wearing them everywhere.

I liked them so much I bought them in black and in brown. And I have some other similar older styles that I've posted about before (search on Clark Octavia).

  14. You're exactly right, Kneehighs. It's a numbers game, and the more frogs you kiss, the more likely you'll find the right princess, as I told Mal in another thread. Dave, since we've met in person and I know what you look like, I'd say you have everything going for you - good looks, good personality, and good sense of fashion. I'm glad to see you dating, and I wish you all the best in finding a special woman who is in tune with your desires to wear heels. Steve

  15. Johnie, It's all about confidence. Confidence is sexy and you've gotta be a 10 on that scale! Good luck on the dates. And forget the dinner-and-show routine, as Kneehighs has pointed out - that's boring and predictable. Go shoe shopping with her instead. Hardly any women get to do that on a date, so I can almost guarantee it will be a first time for her (unless you have done it with her before), and it won't be boring or predictable! Let us know how it goes. Steve

  16. G'day, Mal, I'm glad you're not discouraged! You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince (or princess) so hang in there! Kneehighs has some great advice, so learn from the master! When you start hitting home runs, mate, I want to buy the book and movie rights! LOL Steve

  17. G'day, Mal, On the date with Kris when you wore the red shoes and red bag, and it didn't go well, I inquired whether toning it down would have helped? Well, your outfit, even though it was a skirt and heels, was definitely toned down this time, and the proof is that she didn't notice at first! Awesome story. Let's hear the rest, please! Steve

  18. Great advice, Kneehighs. Thanks for posting. I think you're absolutely right about Mal continuing to be who he wants to be but I'd suggest that almost everyone has room to improve his fashion sense to be more attractive. Without photos or being there, we can only imagine what Mal looks like and how his presentation comes across. But the important lesson learned is that whatever his presentation was, it worked in the club setting and didn't work on a date in a public venue. Mal, back to the drawing board, mate, but you have some excellent experience now and that's a great teacher. I wish you all the best of success in your dating future, and keep us posted. You're exploits are really interesting reading! Steve
