  1. From: http://www.ginashoes.com/uk/products/valeria.htm

    >> 100mm (4") heeled peep toe boot with belt buckle calf straps-as worn in Sophie Ellis Baxter's video - 'Murder on the dance Floor.' UK Price £425 <<

Ack. C'mon, Gina didn't even spell her name correctly. It's Sophie Ellis Bextor ya' know. Sheeesh.

Hmm. Posh Spice likes Gina shoes, so I expect she has a pair, though not for public wearing if someone else famous is well known for having worn them. Am I daring enough to go and try them?

  2. When I was about 10 or 11 my parents would occasionally go out on a Saturday night, and I would sleep over at a neighbours house. Their daughter was a year or so older then me, and one time she left some strappy high heels in the room. They were her first pair of high heels, though probably only a bit over 3 inches or so, maybe nearer to 4 perhaps. The straps over the toes were like two interlinked back-to-back E shapes. They were a size 3 or 4 I guess, and I think they were blue. The ankle strap and buckle were conventionally designed. I didn't dare to try them on, but I really wanted to. The next time I was there, several weeks later, the shoes were nowhere to be seen. In the middle of the night I looked in the wardrobes to see if I could find them, and never did. During the next visit and sleepover, as I lifted the sheets back to get into bed, I found a note. It was written by the daughter, and she had left it under the top sheets. It said "No Snooping". Busted! and I never did get to try the shoes on. Darn.

  3. I have an IBM "AT" keyboard that was originally supplied with a second-hand 286 machine sometime back in about 1987. It has been used for about 75% of my computing here (er, the keyboard that is, the computer went into storage a very long time ago), and, apart from taking all of the keycaps off and cleaning them once a year, it is as good as new.

  4. Wow. I want a pair of those! Who makes them? UK size 6.5 / Eur size 39.5 please.

Faith had some vaguely similar stuff a while ago. The heel and mid foot were exposed, with a closed toe, and there were straps across the front of the leg, rather than at the back. They only had them in white. I've not seen anything, anywhere, quite like those in the image above.

  5. >> I even saw one woman wearing the same style boots that Sophie Ellis Bextor wore in the video of Murder on the Dance Floor <<

I'm not familiar with what those boots look like. Has anyone got an image.

This [search] didn't turn up any obvious images either.

This [search] looks more promising, but I'm still looking.

  6. It would be nice to see the site documentation completed, and reflecting exactly the way this board has been set up. It is incomplete at the moment, and a review would be a good idea. The common bugs could also be highlighted in an easier to notice way.

  7. Every few years or so, Faith is an absolute riot of colour. Not so much at the moment, but they do have quite a lot of shoes that are a lot more colourful than many of the other high street retailers.

  8. Hmm, thats a better picture than the one printed in The Sun or whatever rag was left around at work today. I wonder who the designer/retailer is? She likes Gina stuff a lot.

Only yesterday, I saw an image of some D&G courts (pumps) with hooks on the back for attaching locks. Now, where was that web site? Darn.

Several designers have produced shoes with a hint of a bondage theme in the past, evident in the ankle cuff shoes that are now very popular (with pointy toes and 4 inch heels, sometimes more, as well).

  9. Well, in this little corner of England, the fashion seems to be for block heel knee-length boots from 3 to 5 inches high, though most of the higher ones have a nearly 1 inch platform. Mainly though it is pointy toe, spiky heel (from 3 to nearly 5 inch heel) trouser cut or ankle boots. There are a lot of styles with a half or full metal heel also. Blade heels seem to be disappearing, but there are quite a lot where the heel is quite thin, but is slightly longer front to back compared to the side to side width (by about 25% or so).

Additionally ankle cuff shoes are now very popular. These often have pointy toes and 3 or 4 inch heels, sometimes more. A back zip is quite common, though others may have a buckle, or two, or may lace up in some way.

  10. The tall girls shops in the UK go up to a UK size 11, which is US size 12.5 or so. I imagine that there must be such suppliers over there. Over here, a shop called Evans does this, and most shoes are 1 to 3 inch heel, even in those biggest sizes. I found a place on the Net a few weeks ago, in the US, that caters for ordinary styles in large sizes. The URL was mentioned in some other thread. I'll see if I can find it again, or perhaps some other people may make some suggestions.

  11. The ankle strap is a little too high up the leg, but mainly the base is too short for the toes, especially the big toe. The base should be longer, and that toe hook looks less than ideal. Definately very different, and very noisy I expect.
