Great answers highheellover.

The original design that they are all copying is a Christian Louboutin piece from last year. Those cost a lot of money.
Copying happens all the time. The Manolo Blahnik "Stiletto Timberwolf" or "J.Lo" boots were copied to death by Steve Madden, Spot On, Pure, Bronx, Shoe Zone and a hundred others, at a fraction of the cost (a shop near me has them for 5 quid in their sale now).
The Manolo Blahnik clear sided court shoes with patent heel cup and patent toe cap have been copied by Faith, Bronx, and a multitude of others too. I spoke to a lady wearing those the other day, and she had the "real deal" Blahnik version on. Looked really nice, and were quite a bit higher than most of the copies are.

>> real nice, would be nicer if she went on a diet for awhile tho <<
I really don't like dissin' people in public view, but that was one of the most tactless things I have seen, anywhere, in a long time. Just what were you smokin' at the time?
If you haven't got something nice to say, then please STFU.
Was it you, or someone else, that told Ellen-Jay that she had fat ankles a few months back. That was tactless too.
-
Nice shoes; I see that some buyers find them a little high from that maker; see the reviews at http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7130085.html for example (scroll down).
-
Excuse my ignorance but that is a film, a website, or what?
-
Heh, Ellen-Jay, earlier today you posted about your new UK size 5 black courts with 7 inch heels, and now we find you in a Ballet Boot thread?
Looks like the only way is up for you now! Are you tempted to try that sort of boot? I feel sure that no-one does them in smaller sizes though...
-
I was surprised to see you had bought some 7inch heels, knowing you have UK size 4 or 5 feet; you posted that earlier. In fact, I thought that 7 inch heels only started at about UK size 7 or so. What brand are those shoes? They are really nice. Hope you had a lot of fun modelling them. I have tried 6 inch heels, and I take size 6.5 UK (Euro 39.5), and that was difficult enough. For you, an extra inch, and a smaller size too, would seem to be a big challenge; but you coped really well. A shame that they are slightly too big. Do they do anything smaller? Maybe something with an ankle strap might be an idea to at least give a little support. Looking forward to your next postings...

For the pointy mules, what size do you wear and what brand name or style name are those brown ones in the image above? Can you also give a rough idea of price and the year of purchase?
-
I have a pair of rounded closed toe, heel-cup, ankle strap shoes with that type of heel; bought for a fiver years ago (made by Saxone). I also have a pair of zip-up ankle boots, with a slight point ot the toe, from Faith bought in almost new condition for a similar price. At my rate I'll get about a hundred pairs of shoes and boots for the same amount of money :-) :-) though I have to say that they do look really nice.
The girls over at http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=48 will be drooling if someone posts that image over there. Might be fun to start a thread and then see what reactions there are....

>> she took a job where wearing leather, or ANY skirt, for that matter (in a large hardware/home-improvement store) <<
One of the sales people in a local furniture shop here, often wears some very nice leather skirts, and very high heels too.

I see the label inside ends in "... West".
Are those made by Nine West by any chance? If so, good choice!

I went to Torquay last year. They had quite a few shoe shops I remember.
TK Maxx was stacked out with stuff, as well as a couple of nice shops in the main street going up the hill.

Looks like the show covered both "high-end" purchases, designer, and some fetish stuff.
Anyone got a clip of that part of the show, or some stills?
-
Wasn't it rumoured that one of the "high-end" male designers did actually road test most of his female designs? I also heard that Jimmy Choo's owner Tamara Mellon tried every style too.
-
Amazing! Mind your head on low doorways! :-) The "lift" isn't massively high, so I guess your feet are comfortable for quite a long time in those. What about ankles from making sure you don't over-balance, and knees lifting the extra weight, though? Any problems there?
-
I was amazed at how well she walks in those, especially in the "first steps" video. Would like to have also seen her putting them on and lacing them up, too.
-
Heh. I like a "well turned ankle" even if seen in stylish flats, and some of the flats have a massive amount of "toe cleavage" visible too.
However you might be surprised at the "ballet" shoes that this thread is about. The foot is flat, but nearly vertical instead of horizontal.

Hmm, not exactly crossdressing I think, more freestyle, though still not sure. Spotted last week. Male late 20s heading into New Look (UK clothes store). HE was wearing knee length flat-soled suede slouch boots, a black pleated skirt (quite short, almost mini), a puffa jacket, and a wooly hat of some sort with a couple of bobbles on. No make up, no feminine wig, etc. Got a few stares from other shoppers. Some youths on a park bench were discussing what they had seen a few minutes later. The loudest critic was as follows: HE was wearing some sort of animal print trousers down to mid calf, with big rips in them. Underneath could be seen a tartan pattern. Large Doc Marten male lace-up ankle boots. A heavy black coat. He had a huge black bullet pointing from his lower lip, several rings through each eyebrow, and a nose ring. In each earlobe was not so much an earring, but something that made a huge stretch hole in the lobe (but not the usual "big hole" metal ring, this looked more like a yellowy piece of rock). He also wore a necklace that caveman would have been proud of, and "bono" type glasses. 'nuff said.

>> The heels that she had at one point, had a ring like design cut into the metal portion of the heel. Between the sites that you all sent, I may be able to find a suitable substitute. <<
Are those the ones often with a clear perspex platform of one to two inches, or sometimes with a black, white or red, platform of either half an inch, other times 2 inches,.. because there are a lot of those for "exotic dancers", but the heel isn't metal, it is just painted/coated to look metallic.
As far as I know, the Brazil shoes, etc, previously mentioned above, have a heel that really is made of metal.
-
Leatherworks in London have a load, but the very top of the heel isn't metal. The very long metal heel actually screws in and is interchangable and replaceable. They do them in both 4 inch and 5.5 inch I believe. Many other retailers also stock their stuff.
Additionally, if you want a 100% metal heel, look for a style of shoe called Brazil. Not sure who makes them, but they are widely available on the net. A Google search for Brazil metal heel or Brazil metal stiletto will find many.

Whilst the details of what is backed up, when and how it is done, and where it is stored, should not be up for public airing, I do hope that all of the user data is backed up on a very regular basis so that the forum can be quickly reloaded should something more serious happen in the future.

Nice collection; I guess that they are all for indoor use. Those are all very high. What size do you take? Shame on the zips. I guess that a boot with only laces would be stronger, but would be much longer to put on and take off.
