Sounds like a great place to walk. We have a very nice seaside promenade but to get there from out house is a mile and a half along some unlovely, well trafficked streets…

That’s a very positive story and some very encouraging encounters. I’ve long suspected there is an underlying desire by a lot of guys to be able to wear boots in particular. And you seem to have encountered it

Quite a stroll and in inclement conditions to boot. What prompted the marathon outing? I couldn't see the heels in the picture - were they block? Stiletto? Id be a bit worried about durability if I was to attempt such a lomg walk in stilettos - both mine and the shoes/boots.

Ah well - a few years ago a poll amogst young people here in Britain showed that an alarming percentage of them thought that Churchill was the bulldog mascot for an insurance company that was advertising much on TV and had not heard of Churchill the politician and war-time PM

Yes, I agree Italian Heels show wear fairly readily - certainly much more readily than my Jean Gaborit boots which look magnificent even after years of use. THe leather they use irs really rich and luxurious.

I’m thinking along exactly the same kind of lines, ‘less’ quantity (we can try) and more quality.
The only thing putting me off Italian heels a bit is there website seems a little dated but guess I can get in contact with them via email. Really wish shoes of prey was still going. But another great suggestion for boots there! Thanks
Yes the Italian Heels website is quite dates, but they do respond well to emails and their service is excellent as are their boots and shoes (although I’ve only ever bought boots)

I’ve not heard of any. I have similar sized feet and prefer to have fewer pairs but better quality. My heels are either from Italian Heels or Jean Gaborit or the now extinct Shoes of Prey which also did very nice heels in large sizes. Although I’ve not bought anything from them, I believe Fernando Berlin do very good quality boots in large sizes.

I guess it would depend on the returns policy. I would usually figure a UK12 to be a size 46 too

Italian Heels are great. well made and nice leather.
The quality of the leather with the Jean Gaborit boots though is amazing - buttery soft yet quite substantial. They are well worth the investment and will last many, many years

He probably did have heels on his riding boots.
I have indeed heard of Chester A Arthur - one of only two US presidents from the state of Vermont, and became president because of the assassination of President Garfield who'd only just started his term of office.

It’s been a couple of years. I’ve two pairs of their “Tina” stiletto knee boots - one chocolate brown with 12cm heels and ine black with 10cm heels. The lead time us said to be four weeks but both of my orders came in less time than that.
They have a wide range of styles and also a wide range if colour choices for each style. They also scale the heel height to the size so everything stays in proportion throughout the size range. In other words, if the shoe ir boot us listed as a12cm heel, that height is based in a size 36 or 38 (I forget which) and then scaled up or down from there. Your size would have a higher heel, although sold as a 12 cm. They provide a chart so you can see the precise heel height for each size.
They are very good, well made, and respond fairly quickly to emails.
if you’re into tall boots, as I am, and are willing to spend big to go custom, Jean Gaborit in .France are a fully custom bootmaker and make wonderful boots. I have a couple pair. The workmanship and leather is unbelievably nice and the fit is perfect - they take about 15 measurements. Highly recommended if you really want to push the boat out. They don’t do shoes, just tall boots - knee, OTK and thigh boots.

I simply do not see the need or utility of artificial intelligence when the natural variety is demonstrably so much better

The heels are very presentable

I can second the recommendation for Italian Heels. A very wide range of styles in shoes and boots, and good quality.

Those are pretty steep heels, higher than I could ever manage fior two hours that's for sure. Nice looking too. I know what you mean aboutr feeling you've had a good worjout at the gym.

I’m with you there!
I’m going to be living off grid later this and am so looking forward to being away from all this stuff. I’ll have internet for work - and to post here! - but otherwise no TV let alone anything like Alexa.

I look forward to the results

All these things make me increasingly wary and distrustful of AI. I do not think this is a good thing.

I go high tech with a tripod, full frame DSLR and a programmable self timer - but I’m not shooting images of myself in heels. I shoot a lot of expedition stuff but don’t know enough about fashion shoots to be able to do a decent job of shooting myself or my boots in any kind of stylish way and so I don’t. It’s why I never post images here

As a cyclist I know that the optimum number of bicycles is always n+1. I suppose it's the same here

I’m going to be living off grid with very limited space - I was with the builder yesterday and realising just how small this space will be. I’ve a dozen pair of lovely boots. They will all be coming, but I had best refrain from getting any more - well, maybe just one more pair…

Yes, it will never happen and even if there was an agreed upon standard the quality control in a lot of the factories turning out fashion is such that it woukd still be a crapshoot.
-
If you did that at a cricket match you’d have put on some serious miles
-
I think that would be impossible because different styles and designs would scale up or down in differing degrees.

A rails to trails path is where a disused railway line is converted to a cycling/hiking path. The rails are taken up, and usually the old rail bed is smoothed up a bit and you have a very nice traffic-free path with a very level gradient.
We do have them here in the UK
