The boots in the link above shouldn't get much attention when worn in public. Especially if they don't make alot of noise when walking. I have a pair similar and wore them to work without comments.

Well done you for trying the heels on in the store. It is a bit like wearing heels in public. First time is always the hardest. The more you try heels in the shop the easier it becomes. Did you buy any of the ones you tried.

There are lots of posts about telling girlfriends etc. I think you should tell her as soon as possible. She may already have a idea about it anyway.

Confused. If you go out with your girlfriend while wearing heels. Get her to wear some too. Then anyone will just think the noise is her heels.

No. I have various heights but I am most comfortable in 4 inch heels (uk size 7).

Well done on telling your girlfriend. You should be able to find lots of nice heels in regular shops, as you are a uk size 7. Might be a good idea to get some lower heels to get used to walking in heels. Then work your way up to what ever height you want to wear. You may want to take a small tape measure with you at the weekend to check the heel heights as there seem to be alot of higher (5 inch) heels around lately).

The first pair should be fine for street heeling as they don't look to feminine. You could get jeans/trouser with a longer leg than you normally wear. This would make them less obvious as high heels.
