  1. dingpat, I found that Nine West, just like any other brand, varies from shoe style to shoe style in fit. In the outlet, I tried on a high heel, kind of loafer style pump with a somewhat rounded toe in an 11 and the fit was snug, but generally OK. I also tried on the one pair of size 12 shoes I found, a somewhat thinker heel, black smooth/black patent almond toe Mary Jane style that was a bit narrow in the toe box and probably, if I had tried on the left shoe as well, would have been too long for my left foot, which is a bit smaller than my right. I also had a pair of heels from Nine West that I bought at the outlet without trying them on. They were a style called, I believe Tree Toes, which was a pointed toe suede and leather pump with a small t-strap set low on the shoe near the toe box. They were a size 12, so I thought they would be plenty big, and when I went to put them on, they were so small that I did a double check to see if the shoes were the same size as marked on the box. They were smaller than many 11s that I have owned or tried on. So....that is why I have taken to, in most instances, trying things on before I purchase. That way I will at least know that I can get into them.

Wow, well thanks so much for the in-depth on Nine West sizes!! I would have some serious concerns trying on shoes in a Nine West outlet. Talk about your frightening experiences. I get jittery just trying on shoes in payless!

  2. My only issue is that Nine West is expensive. I'm just a poor college student, so those heels really would be an investment for me. I could get 2-3 pair of payless for 1 pair of Nine West. But they look so good! How can I say no?

  3. What are the sizes at Nine West like? I really like a lot of their styles, but I wonder what their size 12 is like. I can wear a payless size 12, but I'm not sure if the Nine West is similar. Can anyone clue me in on this?

  4. wow, i have no idea you guys have that much confidence

i need to build that up if i want to try on heels while shopping

I definitely understand where you are on the confidence thing hhdude, I had (and still have) those same queasy and nervous feelings whenever I'm trying on heels. I remember one experience where I was in payless trying on shoes and the sales girl got really excited seeing me and told me she "had a purse that would go great with those!" and ran to find it. Most people don't care, I'll agree with the others, but that doesn't stop the feelings of nervousness. Just keep at it and you'll be alright!

  5. Hi everyone,

Another indication with the Japanese womans addiction to heels is the totally inpracticle places they wear heels to. I've gone up a hiking trail to a mountain. I was wearing hiking shoes and the steps/path leading to the shrines on top were steep and I had to catch my breath. In the meantime, I see women in 3-4 inch heels, some of them in stilettos (!!!??) doing the same climb! That climb would wreck havoc on the shoe/foot and yet they still do the hike in heels. And we're not talking about 1 or even a few women. We're talking lots!

I had this same experience while I was in China last summer. Women wear heels everywhere! I never knew what to think of it, maybe heels are just normal everyday wear in Asia for women.

  6. Yep, that's it. I guess I was right on: "4 1/4 heel with a mini platform". Here's the full link:

Lot's of nice shoes there! Great place for people with typically-sized feet (6-11). Needing a sz13, nothing for me unfortunately.

I'm right there with you! I'm so jealous of everyone who has smaller feet! It pretty much relegates me to payless, since I try to stay away from the pleaser and ellie-style shoes for public wear. Any other makers that sell large sizes?

  7. Went to the YSL store on 5th Ave last Jan but they didn't go to 11. Wanted a pair of the YSL Tribute heels but they were a little too tight. I need a 10.5 or 11 usually and they went to a 41 in Euro. I need the 42.

42 is the answer to my life,, universe and everything!

    Love the reference there, Cassie!!

  8. Look at the date of the thread!!!

    Question:

Do you think things are different now?

Personally I think so. I would not have gone out in heels (5" Stilettos) four years ago like I do now. Things are changing.

Now before you get all excited about things changing, look at yourself first. Four years ago, you wouldn't wear heels out of the house, but now you have no fear about it. Maybe you've changed, and gotten courage, while the world has remained the same. I'm still in the fear stage of things, but I feel a little braver every week.

I'm not saying the world isn't changing, but We change too.

  9. Edmondsean, The whole reason many of us are here is to have support for what we like to wear that most people don't accept: heels. So while you have this grand plan to make heels on men a normal thing, maybe that's not what all of us really want. I would love to walk down the street in heels and have it be completely normal, but it isn't, and I'm OK WITH THAT. Making such broadbrush statements about the members of this forum is unacceptable. Take your preaching elsewhere, please, we aren't fond of it here. -Pat
