  1. I was out heeling today in fairly low (2 1/2") pumps. I probably walked 3 miles in all but wound up with horrible blisters on my heels. I have such a narrow heel that it moves around even n women's shoes. The next time I am oit in them, I will wear nylons of some sort.

  2. Today I witnessed something that made me think about this thread. I was standing in line at a coffee shop today behind a young woman who was dressed trendy, but conservative. She was wearing a black top and gaucho-style pants, but the coup-de-gras was here patent-leather ballet flats. Even though they were flats, the power of patent leather made her look quite sexy.

  3. Though I didn't fall, I was out shopping today and hit a wet spot on the hardwood floor of JCrew and skidded about six inches before regaining my balance. My heels were only 2 1/2 inches, so they weren't the problem nearly as much as the smooth soles (and the wet spot.) The worst part is there was a woman with fantastic legs and great shoes that I was trying to check out and be cool...just didn't work out the way I planned...

  4. Just wanted to share my latest outing and what I wore, though today's seems eerily similar to one I posted before. I went on a business trip the last couple of days and it took me through Columbus, Ohio. I was so excited to be out that I forgot to feed the parking meter, which cost me $20, but oh well. I spent a couple of hours browsing art galleries and had a couple of great conversations with curators, then I went to a high end shopping area and browsed some more. Since I have been pretty broke, I didn't dare go near a shoe store...LOL After about 3 hours of walking, I grabbed a light dinner and headed home. In nobody seemed to notice or if they did, they didn't say anything. Pretty uneventful, but I felt so good to be out in heels again. Today's outfit: Clayborn navy blue velvet sports coat (Macy's $39) Eighth Avenue French Cuff Cotton Shirt (Macy's $12) Calvin Klien Straight Leg , Loose Fit Jeans (Value City $20) Bandolino 2 1/2 inch pointy toe pumps (had them too long to remember where they came from - Marshall's maybe...)

  5. Not only do girls dance in heels, they go backwards a lot, which men don't, and they turn or spin much more than men. The man's job in dancing is to make the woman look good, so wearing heels would be fun but might take away from that.

The old quote...Ginger Rodgers did everything Fred Astaire did...only she did it backward wearing high heels...

  6. What makes a 'nice' male foot?

A mans foot will never be as nice as a female foot no matter what you do to them IMO

Men can have very nice feet and I have seen more than my share of really ugly female feet. One of the things that (well at least used to) make women's feet more attractive is that they simply took better care of their feet. Today, with the proliferation of flip-flops and other, what I consider sloppy footwear) women, at least young women seem to let theirs go.

Physically, a nice foot has long toes, a nice arch, and good nail beds. Just my opinion, that's all.

  7. I spent some time last night resizing thumbnails. Hope it's better.

John...I just wanted to thank you publiclly for all of the effort that you have put into this poll. I know how tedious it is to move pictures, etc. on the Internet. It has been great for fostering community, not to mention seeing some pretty great legs! I guess, I want you to know that it is appreciated and I think people should be smart enough to simply go through the thread, look at the pics, without needing spoonfed. Again, thanks for your work on this and I can't wait to see your next idea!

  8. I nominate Stevie Nicks.

    I second that nomination!!!

My high heel icons are a bit old school:

    Jackie Kennedy Onasis

The Cast of Charlies Angels (T.V. Series)

And my 8th grade history teacher

But I guess Stevie Nicks isn't exactly "New School" anyway...

  9. I have actually stopped wearing mens jeans alltogether. Girl jeans are the only jeans i wear as i'm a slim guy so they look really good on me. I also wear my chunky calf high chunky boots with them also which looks really good with flare jeans as they give me sort of a updated 70's style look with the flares and platforms.

Here is a recent pic of me in Angels lowrise flare jeans and my boots.

You are ebsolutly correct that they do look really good on you. However, they kind of remind me of a coule of pair of boy jeans that I own. In the last few years, the number of ptions in boy jeans have exploded and in my mind boy jeans are starting to enter the realm of girl jeans. Just my observation, I could be all wet.

Though I don't wear girl jans myself, I have started to experiment with women's slacks. I realy like the wider legs that are popular now. Here are a couple of pics of me in a couple of pair of Style & Co. slacks that I bought off a clearence rack at Macy's. I am wearing 2 1/2 inch Bandolino pumps in each picture:

  10. I was wondering what people's favorite brands of shoes are. Since this question can't really be set up in a traditional poll format because of the wide variety of tastes and styles, not to mention brands, just copy and paste the following questions. 1. What is your favorite brand? 2. Why is it your favorite brand? 3. Where do you most often buy it? 4. What is the typical price range?

  11. The discussion on this topic got me thinking about something I often do.

When I see a woman I know, and I notice her wearing heels, I will say, ummm you seem a bit taller today. Almost always, they will respond by showing me their shoes, giving me the opportunity to give them a nice comment on the heels or how they walk, etc.

Might work for those who want to comment on a womans heels, but perhaps a little unsure about saying something directly about their shoes.

I complement women on their shoes all the time. I am very good at using the brands, which really seems to impress them.

anyway, I think I will try the "you look taller" thing just to add a little variation to my repertoire.

  12. I know you have already made your decision on your shoes (and a good one I might add) however, my solution is simple...get both! Since you bought the red strappless (and I LOVE red shoes) get the black with the strap. I know its expensive and will fill the closet quite quickly, but it will only leave the decision about which to ware...

  13. About 20 years ago, when I was first gaining my courage to even buy heels I would specifically buy several pair around hallowen. My logic was that it wasn't uncommon for people to do things out of the ordinary around the season, so I wold have some psychological cover. Hey, maybe he was buying them for a costume...etc. Today, I look back on it as kind of silly, but before resources like the Internet which allow us to share our experiences, it was awfully lonely. However, I wish I had that excuse for other silly things and impressions I had in my 20's. LOL

  14. A very nice addition to your wardrobe. I really like it with the silvr/gray boots and the black pumps; though pumps with a knee-length jean skirt may be too dressy. Your legs are quite nice and you may consider your next jean skirt be a bit shorter. Your length is perfect for your beautiful boots, however. I hope you enjoy in and if you wear it out to relay some reaction back to the board.

  15. I buy a lot of shoes at Macy's. I have noticed on the tags on the display models that they often have a size listed only US sizes 6 to 10. However, I decided to ask anyway for an 11, and the had them in some styles. One clerk even gave me a tour of the shoe department pointing out all of the styles that hey had in stock in 11. Often, if they don't have it in a size you want, they will direct you to another area store, or will have them shipped from another store. Macy's is a relatively new phenomena in my area. My area was mainly served by Kaufmann's, Lazurus, Hecht's, and other local stores that were bought by Macy's. These stores often ran bigger clearances and had more selection, though Macy's quality is a bit higher. What I have surmised is that Macy's is a better corporation that manages inventory better, therefore it sells what is most likely common sizes. Further, the styles are more homogeneous, leaving out a lot of regional variation. In the end it may be better for a person of a more common size, but those of use who don't fall within the 80% of the population, we just get left out.

  16. Have shoe designers started doing this to make shoes appear shorter, or are they heel fans that just couldn't bring themselves to make a true flat heel?

I think that you might be on to something about designers wanting to make shoes appear shorter. Just from my less than empirical observations, some women are sensitive about the size of their feet. I dated a petite woman a few years back, who was a US 5.5 to 6, and she pointed out that shoe stores put their smallest sizes as floor models because smaller shoes are more attractive. She also loved the fact that she could just try on shoes without asking for help, but that is another point.

Anyway, it is a clever marketing idea. At the very least it adds another option, another look to the huge and competitive shoe fashion industry.
