  1. I went to look around the new shopping area in Broadmead, Bristol. I have come back with a pair of brown/stitch detail shoe-boots 5" spike (They have a vertical zipp on the inside ankle) and a pair of plain black round toe pumps with 4.5" square heel. These were both from NEW LOOK who have a huge range of shoes in leather and very good prices. Size 41 and some lines are in size 42, worth a look. I also went into ALDO which has a similar range and, although size 41 / 42 are available, there sizes run a little smaller but worth a visit. HOUSE OF FRASER has a great shoe hall with plenty to try on. As I was already wearing my new shoe-boots I was approached by a nice woman who asked me my opinion on which flat pumps she should choose. She really liked my new purchases and we chatted a while. I went into several other shoe shops but these three were outstanding. The staff are so helpful even though I have to keep asking for different sizes and styles, they just keep on bringing more out for me to try. NEW LOOK has all its stock on the shelves, so you help yourself, so I was there for over an hour ! I thought I heard an abusive comment from some men behind me as I walked along ("F***in H**l look at *** ") etc. I slowed up a little and looked in a window. As they went past I heard them saying "That's f***in amazing I wonder where he got them" and " Wait till' I tell so & so". They were curious and the swearing was part of their amazement and this is the point...They were interested not aggressive. It is easy for me to jump to the wrong conclusions about what other men might think, but I am no more a target for abuse than anyone else who 'does their own thing' and these days the streets are full of people 'doing there own thing' I was wearing well fitted jeans, cut to about an inch off the ground, and a beautiful shirt with lots of detail. I have heard it said that when I wear heels everything suddenly falls into place...the way my garments hang ...the way I walk...my confidence is boosted and women find that attractive and sometimes don't themselves know why. They look at the whole image, and find it attractive, in an instant, without even necessarily registering that I am wearing heels. Every man who likes to wear heels needs to find a look that works for them ; we all need more mirrors in our homes ! M

  2. What is a feminine feeling? I am a man so all my feelings are masculine even though most of them can or are shared with women. SO is a feminine feeling one that is exclusively women only? That would make sense. If that is the case I will never feel it as...I am a man. Will someone suggest some feelings that are feminine only ? I don't expect anything as trivial as wearing heeled shoes to be on the list! M

  3. Yes, Firefox, you are right. Apathy rules in general, but remember that all people will sooner make a compliment than a criticism. It is normal to want to spread happiness and I have not yet been approached by someone wanting to be rude. So my perception of the matter is skewed to? M

  4. I voted that women like it because I have not, as yet, been confronted with anything other than praise and wonderment. A few giggles along the way are to be expected. A woman, in the heels I wear, would get whistles and giggles too so what's the difference?Hey! Amanda Snake...Do you get whistles?

  5. This is all very interesting. Can we form a friendly society now, with a subscription, so we can have some cash to help those of us that can't afford the trip? We could then hire better venues and attract some fashion and press coverage. The hhplace community needs to reach out to the thousands of men and women who are unaware of it's existance and need our support, and start to raise awareness around the globe, in a bigger way. Ultimately we should have some goals in mind...fashion freedom and liberty? I don't feel that we have enough to tie us together without the formality of an asscociation of some kind. I like the idea of meeting around the world...a different place every year is great.. I am sure there will be some feedback about this idea! M

  6. Sorry to hear this news. We all have to coordinate, but men need to be even more careful than women. I do make an effort to watch my weight, as a man (without boobs) does look a bit odd in heels under a beer belly. A large woman is better balanced even if overweight. If looking good in heels matters above all things then you will become thinner !! regards M

  7. Thanks for the interest every one but i would like to get a few points straight: I do not live in a tolerant area, in my opinion there is no such thing. It is possible that one is more likely to see people 'doing their own thing' in certain parts of London and other cities because there is a 'Bohemian' atmosphere. I do not seek out such places as part of my everyday life. Every man, woman, boy, girl on this planet is free to wear any type of footwear, anywhere and at anytime so long as floors are not damaged in the process. Wearing high heeled shoes or boots is an harmless pastime that should be encouraged, if necessary, to demonstrate LIBERTY. Surely stable and wholesome societies are not founded on conventions regarding clothing. M

  8. Morpho, It sounds like you need to 'get out there' right now. There is not much of a rush for me as I wear heels so much, but It is super when I get a compliment, which is more than you would think. I get as much heckling as anyone in these kind of boots....male or female....They kind of 'go beyond' the gender issue BECAUSE they are so in-your-face-fantastic and people see and wonder at the boots, if they are interested. They are not girly ...remember that I am not cross dressing, or in pink strappy sandals. Let me know what you think. M

  9. Well I suppose it boils down to this:- If you are going to be accused of something you might as well go and do it !! hence If you are going to wear heels as a man better make the most of the situation and wear something 'full-on'. I did not want to look like a girl...that is not the point...I just like wearing heels same as any other person who likes wearing heels. Come on ......MEN GET OUT THERE !!! M

  10. Thank you for all the kind comments. I had no problems at all that day. They are made by Costas at Leatherworks, I visited his operation, bought the boots and went on my way. I was in them for about 7 hours. They are size 9 and the heel is 5.75 inch which is fine for me as my feet are adapted to very high heels. If anyone wants to know the secret it is this: ONLY WEAR HEELS... YES...ALL THE TIME, EVEN IF THEY ARE ONLY 3 INCHES HIGH, but keep changing to different heights. you need to keep some kind of support, and slowly you develop muscles and control. regards M

  11. I wore these boots all around London two weeks ago. This picture is me on the escalator in Selfridges in Oxford St. I had three comments all day, two from women one from a man, all really complimentary. I can assure all men that an androgenous look can work fine. I was not heckled by anyone in London, not even kids. Come on ....go with a girlfriend too and why should anyone 'bat an eyelid' .....people want to see this kind of thing in London (new fashion and unashamed statements)...it's what they come for!! M
