  1. A woman in her early-30's walked out of a eyeglasses frame shop wearing 4" to 4 1/2" spike heel black leather pumps. She also wore a black long-sleeve top and a taupe skirt, about 3" above the knee. She also stopped on a brick sidewalk and jammed her heel tip between the bricks to either adjust her heel tip or cleaned off the heel tip.

  2. I live in a part of the U.S. where fashion trends are 2 to 4 years behind. So the best times for heels might be from this spring through next year, at least. As my memory serves, the heel trends in the 80's lasted until 1994, until the 'claude-hoppers' boots that Heelfan mentioned, the Doc Martin's boots, and the birkenstocks became mainstream. I'm seeing a bit more heels out there, but not on an everyday occurance like the 80's. But I will enjoy and savor everything I will see.

  3. Nothing to report from U.S. West Coast, north of California. There is a few 3" and under slides, sandals, boots and pumps arounds. An occasional 4" or higher. The shoe stores have lots of spike heel sandals and boots on display. There is potential but nothing has reached the surface quite yet.

  4. Well where does it end? Those tourists snapping pictures of street scenes in London for their own personal use and pleasure. Are they going around with wads of cash or release forms compensating any building owners or people that happen to appear in the shots? What about those contemporay histrorians who record the life around their towns for future generations to look back on. How many wads of cash and release forms have they dished out?

Now you are talking about something totally different. Photographing people is one thing, photographing places and things is something else. Buildings, natural landmarks, and even cars, boats, trains, and planes is considered public domain. Therefore a photographer is well within their artistic expression to photograph them. If there is a photo worthy enough to be published in a magazine, it is common courtesy to get a property release form from the owner or a company representative.

  5. I posed this question amongst the photographers that I know and it was unaminous on what they had to say. If you photograph a full-length shot of a person, and the persons face is recognizable, that person should be compensated for the pic (like what Laurie mentioned), but......that person must sign a release form to release all rights of photo in exchange, much like the transactions in the modeling industry. So a person who wants to do that kind of photography, you better bring a big wad of cash and a stack of release forms, or risk an even bigger wad of cash in court. In the other hand, one photographs only the shoes, then it is close to impossible to claim ownership. Dan

  6. Last Friday (Aug. 8, '03), I saw a younger woman, about 20 to 25 y.o., wearing a pair of light pink, 3" spike heel pumps. I bumped into her again a few minutes later and noticed the toebox was rounded. She was pushing a baby stroller and had her bf/husband along side of her. Dan

  7. Both brands are popular amongst the strip club, exotic dancer industry. Both brands use man-made materials. The quality seems good, I've never seen or heard of either brand falling apart due to excessve use. Their prices are more reasonable than the higher quality brands. As for a difference, there is none I can think of at this time. Heelfan could be on to something about the same factory producing the same types of shoes under two different brand names. Dan

  8. I hope they've got it wrong. Sporty, casual and "folkloric".

Folkloric? Sounds like something that comes from a renaissance fair, or from medieval times.

Hopefully the Italian, British, French and American designers have something up their sleeves for this fall.

  9. I would love to start a new website showcasing my photography. I would have a special area dedicated to the ladies who have worn high heels for me during shoots. Right now, I don't have the funds to hire a website designer, a domain name, host my site, etc. This is a goal of mine, but it going to have to be sometime in the future. Dan
