Strappy pumps at the office

Those stilletto are hard to walk. I wish I could train and walk more with them.

Well, Tahira, it's not impossible! If you really want to master walking in those spike heels, you have to train with reason - start from lower heels and shorter wearing time and increase it gradually. Well, I think there are plenty of threads about this issue, so go ahead and read them!

I padlocked my 5 inch pumps onto my feet and went to work like that no-body gave me verbal comments, but the expressions were plenty. lot's of naughty looks, and secret stares. But no-body told me it was over the top to do this. Maybe it has to do with the openmindedness of my collegues and the commuters here, I don't know.

Damn, I wish I could do that. Tragically, I'm back to people saying 'wear what you want', but not meaning it. Oh well, what the hell.

Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"

Good for you....It was well worth your time to "stir" things up a bit at work....do it every so often just to "keep them on their toes"...sorry about the pun...

I don't have a picture of them, I will try to get one, but then I don't know how to post it on here. But they are basically sexy 5 inch pumps with an ankle strap (leather one) what i did is remove the leather anklestrap, and placed a thin steel chain through the loop that held the anklestrap as well. then i used tiny padlocks (yet very effective) to lock the chain closed. It basically looks like I am wearing heels and an anklet on both ankles. But if you look closely you can see the padlocks on the insides of my ankles.

Tahira; mmmmmmmmmmmm now that's what I call a pair of sexy silver high heels

phuonginheels; When you wore those padlocked pumps, did you wear them with a skirt or pants? And where did you leave the key? At home?

I wear sandals in the summer, I mentioned them a lot in my diaries. I walked to lunch in a pair of five inch tan sandals one day, and many times I wore my favourite pair of four inch heeled black patent sandals at work, and even to and from. I like to go with red toe nails for that. So it happens.

If you're talking about why they don't wear them in the winter, aside from the temperature, I think that they may be weighing the price of Nylons against the greater possibility of dinging the toes and causing a run (not to mention the pain!). :x

Living and working in the tropics, I can tell you that women do wear mostly strappy shoes in hot climate. It's accepted. And again there is strong discrimination between men and women. Women can go to work in light clothes, perfectly suited to the climate, and wear strappy sandals while men (at least in the administration and private sector offices) have to be fully dressed (no bare feet, socks compulsory .... tie compulsory in many executive positions ...). I do wear sandals, but in summer, and also in spring and fall for evening outings. In winter i stick to pumps and slingbacks, always, except for at home, then i would change into a pair of slides, or ballet heels

If I hurt my toes, the pain makes me upset for a few minutes. If I have a snag or a run in my stockings, I just about cry, and I pout most of the day.

Strange how that is, but that is one reason why I think sandals should be for bare feet only. There are exceptions of course.

I know there are a wide variety of high heel pumps with straps. They range from the court shoe (classic pumps) with a thin ankle strap, to the kind of mule with just two straps (one around the ankle and one across the toes). For those of you who wear the shoes that are more strap than shoe, do you have a problem with stability? I'm talking about the wobbling of your ankles from side to side when you walk. It seems like to me that your foot is quite susceptible to sliding out sideways and injuring your ankle. Or is it like anything else that with enough practice, your ankles learn to correct for this lack of sideways stability?

I think that it depends on the make of the shoe, and possibly of the shape of your feet. I have a pair of strappy sandals (which my wife originally got for herself in size 39 (her size) at my request but was so nice that I got the apparently last available pair in size 40 for myself) which I can wear *everywhere* (really) with the excuse that they have 5"+ heels, so some work is not too convenient when wearing those... I also have a very nice pair of cork wedges from Ernest with just a 4" heel that also feel nice walking in, but after a 3000 meter (about 1.7mile) walk in the woods I got a pair of big blisters due to the fact that they only have two straps across the foot just above the toes besides the ankle strap that keeps them in place. So while the wedges were very stable to use, even while in the woods, they caused me discomfort because the weight was too much concentrated on these two straps, while my other sandals distribute the weight better and thus avoid such problems. Oh Lord no, I have enough old men leering at me, I do not need to make it worse. As it is, Chris would certainly have words with anyone trying to stare at the wrong places on me. I suppose if a high paying job required it, then I would certainly lounge around like that, provided the boss did not get any funny ideas. Unless Chris were my boss for some reason. But that's a whole other role play, er, situation. Yeah.

Speaking of jobs that require high heels, If any of you get to visit one of the COMDEX's either in Las Vegas or Chicago, take a look at what virtually ALL of the poor female demonstrators are wearing on their feet (as opposed to what the male demonstrators are wearing--talk about a double standard!) standing 12-14 hours each day. Then there is the cocktail waitresses at the Las Vegas Casinos. Other than the pay, the only consolation is that they usually do their standing on more or less padded carpeting.
