All, Is there a guideline for avatars here just as there are pictures? I've noticed some people have gone from G to PG to now R rated (almost X rated) Avatars. I used to read HHPLACE at home and work (at times) but with the increase in the number of R-Rated Avatars, that is going to have to stop. Scotty

Yes, it's same rules. Personally I wouldn't count breasts or bums as nudity. It's all pretty soft isn't it? However, you need to take several other things into consideration. 1. We have to comply with the rules of the hosts, so why push the limits and risk the board? 2. There are quite a lot of very prudish people around who get offended easily. Why risk upsetting them? It only creates a hard time for me when they start whinging and moaning and I like an easy life ;) 3. People want to surf at work maybe, so why make their life hard by posting risky content, even in an avatar. I'm sure, if you think about these things you'll see that an innocuous avatar will be a better choice. To be honest, I've got more probems with people uploading massive avatars which are really wide and mess up the display. This is really dim behaviour. It tells you what the limits on size are when you upload your avatar. These limits are there for a reason, not just to pass the time of day.

It's not a matter of being prudish, personally I don't mind the pictures either. It's more a matter of knowing what I am going to see when at work or if the family happens to be near (not my wife, she knows I read here, more if my daughters happen to walk by while I am reading the board). For example, there are certain threads I don't open at work or when the family is near that I might read when alone. The problem with an avatar is you don't know who posted in what thread so as your scrolling down and you come across something even "soft" while at work, well, it might not be a good situation. However, posting "soft" pictures in a thread with perhaps a title "careful viewing at work" or something to that nature might be a good way to warn people of the content. All I would ask is as Firefox as stated, please put yourself in the situations as others before picking an avatar. For those of you who already changed your avatar, thank you very much!;) Scotty

Going back to the huge avatars FF mentioned, would it be possible for the mods to remove oversized ones? It's annoying to have to read a column of text two inches wide because someone's avatar is taking up the rest of the screen. Chris
