Jenny Heels Shoes and Heels Page - a year of rebirth

Recommended Posts

I have no idea why I am posting this. Maybe it's the wine my sister and I had to cure the stresses of the work week, maybe wearing five and a half inch white stiletto heeled pumps with short sox... oh who cares. A year ago, Firefox and I started to work on bringing back Jenny's page. Jenny put a lot of work into the web site, and the old server had shut it down. We never found out why for certain, just bits and pieces. But we managed to ressurect the site, gathering a few donations and securing a new server. And so, Jenny's dream, so long made reality and then crushed, was reborn as jennyspage.co.uk I think it is worth mentioning now. I mean, without it, there wouldn't be a Jenny's discussion form on Boardhost, and there wouldn't be hhplace.org. So we do need to celebrate it, and Jenny. I know she doesn't post publically all that often, but from time to time she does mail Fox and myself, checking on the child of her imagination, her creation, and just making sure we're taking care of it. So here's to Jenny, who really brought a lot of us together, and here's to the site which she started that led to the creation of this great community, and really, a great trend in a world of high heeled wearing and appreciation. We miss you J.M., and we hope you visit us again, even if just to say hi. Fox and I may not have much time these days, but we will do what we can to keep her dream alive. Hopefully, we can all join in to keep it breathing, growing, and flourishing. :-?

Nicely put, Laurie. I'm glad you posted this tribute to Jenny. A lot of IPs have come and gone over the past 6+ years since Jenny's website first aggitated bits on the Internet, providing a place for those of us that wear, care and admire high heels and women that wear them. I, for one, am delighted the website is still on line and that, after checking the latest popularity ratings, still enjoys a place in the top 5 high heel websites on the internet. Thanks to the your and FF's efforts, that's a real testimony and indication of how we members appreciate clean, wholesome discussion of fashion and high heels in these times of inneumerable pornogaphic sites. So, during these holidays, lets raise a glass of spirits in a toast to those that pioneered this trail and remember those good friends we met here and those that are no longer amongst us. Thanks Tom (NL), LisaT, Shirley, Jane, Debbie, Skymaster,Sasha, WarSprit, Chris007, pheels, CarinaD, Joak, Susan (the original), Crystal, Jim, Bryum, raincat, and many others that helped blaze the trail. And a special appreciation to "our Jenny" who made it all possible. Loads of love to friends, old and new and to one and all. Cheers :drinking: (P.S. Don't forget Jenny's chat room is also still alive and well.)

To Laurie and Firefox give your selves a pat on the back for a job well done. It is a pity that we do not give you the credit you deserve except at times like this. It could be given a little more often I think. A pat on the back for the work you have done in resurrecting Jenny's site and for the maintenance of it as well. And congrats to Jenny herself for such an informative, and friendly site, and for choosing Laurie and Firefox as the two to maintain it. Well done all of you. Jeff

Still in the top five, yes, but I need to make some time to get the site back to #1. We could use new sponsors, new advertising... Italianheels hasn't been too co-operative in answering e-mails. Of course, I should be finding sponsors for shoes that I enjoy. Let's hope everyone takes time to visit Jenny's pages, member there or otherwise, and just enjoy that hard work she put in to make it a reality.

Laurie is correct when she says that we need to get Jenny's site back to the No. 1 position in website viewing. And, that can easily be accomplished if each of our members logged into Jenny's webpage once each day. While I don't believe in playing a "numbers" game just for ratings sake, continously occupiying first place will attract additional contributors and interest in Jenny's (Laurie's & Firefox's) efforts.

I'm writing a new article about wearing heels for public consumption on Jenny's site. I will post it here as well, probably in parts. It is a guide for people who have not really worn heels but are looking to wear them most, if not all, of the time. I have the draft done, I did it tonight in a fit of inspiration. Let's hope I can edit it up (easy) and format it for a web style page (not so easy for me). If I can't buy shoes right now for more pictures, I can rely on the one talent I do have that doesn't cost a thing. Well, if I scratch on a wall with a rock, it's totally free, otherwise I need a pen and paper, or a computer, but you get the idea. I've also seen our link on the high heel top 50, Misc site. Just a name. I need to create a banner or something to go there, to show that Jenny's site is not some porn fetish page, but a resource, a place for everyone. That should help keep it up at the top. :)

Great idea Laurie. Now wouldnt it be fabulous if we could get the comunity news papers to run your articles on a weekly basis, with maybe some pics. I have already phoned our local news paper group and the person I spoke to was very interested. However it is not his decision so I will wait till Thursday to talk to one Amelia Verendes and hopefully go on from there. You never never know if you never , never give it a go. :) Jeff

People don't care. They fail to see the effort, to really appreciate things. There are only a few of us who dare to care. It's sad, really. I could say a lot more, but this thread was to be about celebrating the fact that we've managed to keep Jenny's site around. I'll keep the cold, grim reality of the apathy on the part of the majority of the community to myself for now.

Jenny's forum will stay, because there are people who post there and not here. Yes, it might be redundant to some, but it is supposed to be a simple, easy to use means of posting. Some people prefer it to the navigation of the forums. Animations and sounds, those involve some digging for missing files. Not an easy task. We'll see what we can do. Apathy kills. People need to learn to voice their appreciation or they lose what they like. You can't take the world for granted and cry when things vanish.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi there... It's been ages, but memories are still intact. I am THE ONE who was hosting Jenny's site on a private server. In fact, Jenny's site was for quite some time hosted on a free web hosting company (netdump or something like that) but because of the capacity and speed (it was really slow and often down), I offered her to host her website onto my brand new private server and a 1meg ADSL business line, a real race horse at that time (2000-2001). I was living in Paris and paid all that equipment myself, the line was provided by my parents' company. We wanted this site to be free so we've never asked a penny from anyone... This was working fine, then I permanently moved to England in November 2001. I was doing my best to maintain the server remotely. Unfortunately, in July 2003, a critical hardware failure occured on the server. There was a RAID 5 disk array on that server, and one disk failed. During a brief visit in France, I tried to fix it but something bad happened when replacing the faulty disk: a SCSI ID conflict corrupted for good the whole volume and the backups were unusable (my mistake there, I should have made restore tests on a regular basis). So, the server was gone for good... I was so ashamed of this. So many pictures were losts especially Jane's and Debbie's galleries. I am now happy to see Jenny's site back online and feel bad that I cannot provide the missing galleries. Maybe one day, I will find them on a media that I left in France? I do visit my parents two or three times a year so there's still a chance. Unfortunately, I do not stay very long each time so I can never look thoroughly everywhere. Now, looking back, this site was a source of inspiration and an important part of my life. I've met extraordinary people such as Jenny, Bubba, Tom, Crystal, Debbie, Sacha, FireFox, Francis (forgive me if I do not mention some others) and spent hours every day communicating with them. One of them (Bubba knows who) became my girlfriend in real life for some time. We still communicate sometimes by email. There was more than heels and now, despite having a totally different life, I could never thank those people enough for what they've brought to me. Thanks for everything, all the best and Merry Christmas. Phil.

Thank you for your warm wishes, Phil. It's nice to see that you're still out there. I've wondered how you were getting along since we lost contact. Glad to see that you are still checking-in from time to time. Don't be a stranger. Email me if you have a chance. Would love to "catch-up" after all this time.

Cheers guys. It's nice to see that I'm not forgotten :) Well, I still live in London and I've been running my own little IT consulting company for 2.5 years now. The incident on my private server was a nice lesson... Always have more than one way of making data backups ! There was only one chatroom I've ever been into, that was Jenny's. I don't know what the other "regulars" are up to now but I do think about this happy time very often. Life is like this sometimes. You just happen to meet certain people at a particular time and this gives you new directions in life. Without this chatroom, my life would have been different now. I'm so glad I happened to be part of this adventure. If there was a time machine, I'd probably jump back in time, just for 5mn, just to feel again this unique humane atmosphere. Ah.... have you forgotten that I'm a nostalgic :o Thanks, Phil
