Why is it that majority affordable 6 inch heels come with somsort of platform heel...?Why can their not be a true 6 inch heel with out any sort of platform that is affordable... and why do high street stores never carry them..?:cry1:

Because the high street wouldn't sell any shoes that people couldn't really walk in! 6 inch with no platform are not everyday shoes... Whatever anyone tells you. There are many affordable 6 inch heels. There's brands like Pleaser and Ellie who sell shoes for under £50. Specialist companies like Leatherworks and Burlesque Blue sell leather shoes for well under £100.

Pretty much as benno said. To a degree, one could almost call it a marketing ploy: designers are able to advertise '6" heels' (or whatever height) - attracting all the fashion-oriented shoppers, who know that 'higher is in' - while providing a shoe that is wearable (because the rise: heel height - platform height, is bearable). It also doesn't hurt that platforms in general also appear to be in style now as well. I've seen video's of a reporter testing high heels: first was regular heels vs Louboutins, another was a new Steve Madden (I believe) 'comfort' heel. I'd like to see her do a report on two almost identical style pumps: one a regular pump with maybe a 4 1/2" heel, another with a the same rise in a platform (ie. 5 1/2" heel w/ 1" platform). I'd be curious to hear from wearers which one feels better (if they are different), and from watchers, which one they like better. Personally, I'n not a big fan of platforms. I'd much rather sure a "pure" 4 1/2" heeled pump, than a shoe with a 6" heel but a 1"-2" platform.

High heels with 6" high heels with no platform are sexy and fun to wear. I don't wear them in public anymore because I just don't walk as comfortably in them as I do in 5" high heels. I own two pair of pleaser pumps with 6" high heels that were both under $50.

Over the years of buying high heels I've discovered that when buying a shoe with a heel over five inches high is to buy the next larger size. I have a wonderful collection of six and seven inch heels but it took me awhile to realize the advantage of up-sizing when it comes to extreme heels. Another consideration is most heel heights are expressed to a size six or seven shoe. The heel increases in height for larger sizes.
