ChipsHH Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I looked on the Payless site today, at first to see their selection of Flats (since I've yet to pull through and get my first pair). But then I decided to look around the site, at the latest new styles this season and next. My eyes were from ._. to O.O in only seconds. On this page, some pairs of platform heels from "alice + olivia" brand. Another page, more platforms from alice+olivia. The platforms just kept coming, and I was amazed. Platforms seem to be hitting hard this season, straight from Payless, and I kinda like it What are you all's take on this happening? Formally "HHDude"
RonC Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Personally, I didn't like platforms in the 70's, and I don't like them now. Always looks clunky, no matter how elegant the actual shoe design. I just don't understand the attraction to having something that thick ruin the lines of a shoe. I just wish that fashion would end its fascination with those things. But hey, I know there are many lovers of platforms at this site, and more power to you!
heelma Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 See here: http://www.hhplace.org/everybody/5243-perpetual_payless_shoesource_thread-60.html#post202929 and: http://www.hhplace.org/everybody/5243-perpetual_payless_shoesource_thread-60.html#post205114 plus reports on the following pages. And attached are a couple of pictures of one of those pairs, worn with some 37" inseam bell bottom jeans from Alloy.

But hey, I know there are many lovers of platforms at this site, and more power to you! Well, I guess I'm completely on the flip side, because for me, plats offer something that's kinda hard to come by in high-heeled shoes - COMFORT! After all, what better place to hide a nice cushiony pad, and just where it's needed for the balls of the feet, I might add, than that wonderful 1/2" to 1" thick platform? Now I'll admit that some plats do present a hooker image, but nothing sez I have to buy 'em. Now that I think about it, all of my best worn shoes have plats. In some cases I've had to keep gluing and screwing them together just so I could get another mile or two out of 'em. But if anyone hates to throw out a really comfortable shoe as much as I do, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. So to my mind, if plats weren't already here, then somebody (like maybe me) would have to invent them! Keep on stepping, Guy N. Heels
