  1. I'm a 10.5 US men's size and 11 women's. My favorite high heel shoe, and the only type I wear, is a classic black 5" stiletto pump in either pu or patent leather. No platforms, slingbacks or open toes, either. I have Jantes, Pleasers, Ellies, Hollywood Heels and Frederick's of Hollywood along with Sexy Shoes. The Sexy Shoes offer a wide width 5" pump in half sizes, so I tried a pair of size 10.5 as well as 11. The 10.5s are bit snug, but they do fit. The 11s are just right even though they are just a little loose and my heels pop out when I walk in them. I have also found that Pleasers tend to be snug for their size.

  2. Looking back, my interest in high heels began in the third grade. Our classroom teacher wore heels frequently and I noticed how nice they looked on her. Most of my teachers in middle school wore heels as well. I was 13 when I really became hooked. We were visiting relatives in Chicago and my aunt would slip into pumps whenever we'd go out. They weren't extremely high - three inches, I'd say - but her high arches would wink with each step she took. The same thing happened the following spring when we visited during Easter. Her black pumps were just loose enough so that her arches would wink repeatedly. She wasn't much of a shoeplayer, but every so often she would slip one foot out, then the other.

  3. I usually sleep in 5.5" extra wide black patent stilettos. They don't pinch anywhere and are quite comfortable. OTOH they are very loose and it's as if I'm wearing high heeled flip flops when I try walking in them. They're perfect for sleeping, though.

  4. My high school and college years encompassed the 1970s. For a stiletto aficionado such as myself, it wasn't the best of decades. One of the very few times I ever saw someone in classic black stilettos was in college one day. All the girls in symphonic wind ensemble decided to dress up for rehearsal and came wearing dresses. One of the clarinet players wore 4-inch heels. Earlier that same year, one girl came to marching band practice in a skirt and heels. She was a sorority pledge and it was Hell Week. Apparently one of the rules was to dress up every day. This young lady even engaged in shoeplay. I looked over once and saw her slip her foot in and out of her shoe.

  5. I found a nice pair of 5.5" Frederick's black leather pumps on ebay. It seems that with Frederick's, the higher the heel, the tighter the fit and this was no exception. They were very snug when I first put them on, but after wearing them every day for a few hours, they've loosened up some and are actually quite comfortable. They even have good friction material in the heel cup so that my heels don't pop out when I walk. And speaking of Hollywood Heels, I picked up a third pair of black Dames in size 11. They've become my favorite shoe - a timeless 5" stiletto pump that looks and fits great. I understand Hollywood no longer makes the Dame pump - a crying shame indeed.

  6. If you love black stilettos as much as I do, this movie is a must-see. Witherspoon wears smoking hot black patent stilettos for pretty much the entire movie. I think the main reason is the significant height difference between herself and Vince Vaughn. Reese is 5' 1" and Vaughn is 6' 5"; even in those 4.5" (or possibly even 5") heels, she just comes up to his shoulder. The movie poster is cute with the two of them standing back to back and Witherspoon in those heels perched on top of four boxes. She just comes up to eye level with Vaughn.
