Interestingly, all the positive reactions i get to my clothing are when I wear women's items. I have some loafers (not bery high heels, but women's nonetheless) which always get comments like "Great shoes". Same with some bacl women's sweater I have. This goes to prove that there really is a lack of style in men's clothing. When used properly, men can really dress much nicer when mixing in items that sell only for women.

I don't think these heels are strange at all. I have worn the same height in a boot, and I was the professor in college !

Way to go TripleEEE !

I know what you are saying about finally getting boot cut pants in the guys section. I am afraid I spent too much money already on pants as there is too much selection this year. I just love to get the right pants for the right boot.

I saw my second guy in high heels two days ago. (The other one was a few years ago). I was shopping for shoes in Boston (DSW store). As I tried on a nice pair of Oxfords, some guy sat on a bench just a few feet away trying on all kinds of pumps. I ended up buying the Oxfords. As I paid, I saw him buying the pumps !

Black creates less of an outline on shoes. So as guys it is definitely easier to get away with it. I have some great brown boots, but I guess that isn't exactly a big step from black.

My favorites are ALS) (in the US). I consistently get shoes from them that I love to wear. They are rather pricy, but not excessively expensive.

Loafers. Both men's and women's. I like the lower cut on the side of women's loafers. I easily have warm feet, so the women's style actually suites me better.

Great experience. Trust me, as soon as you start browsing the women's shoes, most store assistants know exactly who you are buying for. Almost all of the store people I asked have had wome come in before to try on women's shoes. This is why they sometimes offer you to try them on. Sometimes even when just browsing I get the question whether i would like to try something on. Just this week I had a great conversation with a young sales girl at a Baker store. She told me she had 250 pairs of shoes ! When people are this much into shows, they appreciate a guy's interest in them.

It is great to welcome another professor. Hope you enjoy the board.

Getting your feet and nails done does sounds like a lot of fun. I have never done it. Though I have no problem anymore walking into a shoe store and asking to try women's shoes, I have not had the courage to go into a nail salon. Maybe because there is no men's equivalent

I get uncomfortable when I see these super pointed clown shoes. That is how ugly they are.

Partying, dancing, clubbing, getting drunk ... I need another job to make time for this ...

I think they are not bad, but there are women's boot similar that are more elegant.

Hi Hoverfly, I see you are from the same area of the US. Where did you buy the 518 jeans. I haven't seend them around. Hugging my but sounds fine.

Hi Arista, and welcome. What are hold-ups ? This English from the other side of the Atlantic is strange ...

Yes, at least here in the US, "low rise" means that the pants is shorter on the hop so that it rides more on the hip than close above it. No need to show the navel. THey still look very good with a shirt tucked in, as long as they are not super low cut. I have several women's pants. The only problem with the zipper is that it is very short. Women don't have the same need for the zipper than men...

I rather like HH for driving. I have a pair of 4 inch mules that I often wear when driving. They seem to give my feet more support on long drives. They have a block heel and fit snuggly, so it is not a safety issue.

I don't wear heels to work, so I can say anything about desks. But when I go out to a restaurant in heels, I often do have to swing my legs to the side. That often makes them come out from under the table (in those "cozy" restaurants with small tables), so that everyone can see them. Just fine with me.

Sorry. That was me above. Forgot to log in. Calv, yes the language can trip a Yank up on occasion, especially in loud pubs. Usually, I just point at the tap and give some money ...

Those boots with the side laces are awesome ! I like the look of boots with laces, though I have never had any myself. I prefer zippers over pull on boots.

You guys were definitely correct. I had a great time browsing the stores and even trying on some shoes, but hard to find a size 9. I found some nice shoes at several Dolci stores but they only carried them up to a size 8. Metro Center was definitely impressive. Sales staff at the downtown Barretts were very nice. As you can see, I did lot's of stores. And all in my HH boots. By the end of the day my feet were killing me. But I couldn't be stopped. After dinner I went to some downtown nightclub playing 70'ies music. Danced in my boots all night. As some women were leaving, one came up to me and asked if she could see raise the pants and see the boots. Fun. Simon, you were right. Lots of women in revealing outfits around on a Sunday night (with quite good weather). Overall, a fun experience.

Thanks all. I will definitely send a report when I get back.

I will be in NewCastle (UK) on Sunday and Monday. Any of the British folks on the board have advice for an American (guy) like me where to go shopping for shoes there ? Also, what would correspond to a US size 11 in British sizes ? Thanks.
Slippery Soles

I am with you. I love slippery soles. Once you figure it out, it isn't too hard to walk stably in them. Though I must admit, I did once slip and fall flat on my bum in a department store.
