  1. I'm afraid its a sad fact of life that as women adopt a more masculine style of dress and abandon heels and skirts in favour of jeans and trainers they still expect the men in their lives to be wearing a suit and tie. You have to understand that most women think in a completely different way than we do. They do not understand the fun and pleasure that we get from wearing skirts and heels, to them they are just clothes. Its ok for a woman to wear jeans and Doc Martins, but if the man in her life wears heels, he is definitely crossdressing, properly gay or even a transsexual. You can talk to them for ever about fashion, freedom of choice etc, but at best they are still going to think its a bit weird and at worst they will think that you are making excuses for your sexuality. The best way to describe it is to say that wearing heels or skirts gives you the same high as eating chocolate! As for going through a phase, yeah I thought that when I was 16 and started wearing skirts and heels, that was 40 odd years ago! All I can say is that I'm glad it was not a phase because I have had an awful lot of fun in that time!

  2. Yesterday I was home alone so I tried on my sisters knee length skirt and put some other clothes on (and heels of course)

    The problem is that i taped up the split at the back of the skirt so that it felt better when i walked in it, the only problem is that when i removed the tape the skirts material went very very bobbly where the tape had been (if you at all know what i mean)

    The skirt is obviuosly tampered with and i had no choice to put it back, i tried to use one of these to help the situation

    but it didnt work

    what should i do, let me know soon as posible

    If you had steam ironed the skirt you would have properly got rid of the bobbles, but if you do Iron it, look at the washing label on the skirt to see what temp to set the Iron at. If the skirt is made from Polyester it could melt if you Iron it too hot!

  3. The first skirt that i stole (but replaced) from my sister has been sewn, it is extreeeeeemly tight at the hem and feels fantastic when i walk, heels tight skirts and stairs are difficult, i can reason with girls on this now lol.

    I was quite embarrassed goin into the shop as the woman was asking too many questions so Im not going to go back there anytime soon, if i want my other skirt doing I'll try to find somewhere else. The ruined part of the skirt is bearly noticable now too. I wish i knew what she did to it.

    Im thinking about getting some more clothes, maybe a dress. And maybe i'll branch out and get something other than black.

    I cant wait to wear it all again

    You sound just like me when I was your age!

    Just get your self into the mind set that you are buying the skirt for your sister or girlfriend and its easy when you get into the shop. Know what waist size you are and your skirt size If you get the waist size right you won't have to worry about your hips as women's hips are bigger than men's.

    I also don't like the slit at the back of a straight skirt, I always modify my skirts. You could learn to sew like I did, or a simple way to close the hemline on a straight skirt is to buy one with an over-lapping back vent and keep it closed by sewing it together with a couple of buttons.

    If you want to know anything about straight skirts or how to modify them you can PM me for advice, I have properly worn more straight skirts in my life than most women!

  4. If I were you I would go and collect your shoes from your mothers room before she gives them to a female relative or a friend, after all they are your shoes! When I was 16 I saved for weeks to buy a straight black skirt from M & S, I remember it cost nearly £3, which was a weeks wages for me in those days. But after a few weeks my mother found the skirt and took it into her room, next thing I knew she had given it to my cousin who was two years older than me. The next time she came to tea at our house she was wearing my skirt, she even asked me if I liked it, saying that my mother had bought it for her!!! It took me ages to save up for another one which I hid inside my Hi Fi unit.

    Whilst I can see the "point" of coupling the pointy toe with the stiletto, I can see your arguement from a wearers point of view. Perhaps these days the excessively long point is there just so the shoe wears out quicker or to try and give some room in the toebox. The earlier pointies were much shorter. I was so pleased I came across these court shoes.

    Mind you they're snug and need to be broken in, but once there, joy.

    Kneehighs 1. reminds me of a James Bond film.

    That's what I call a nice court shoe, pity there not in my size :D

  6. JeffB put me onto the Pleaser range of shoes, the most comfortable 4" heel courts I have ever worn. I was only wondering the other day what had happend to him. While we are on the subject of missing persons, What has happend to Laurie Heels and Anita-C?

  7. Have you actually contacted a US company about buying from them? Its sometimes to do with their website set up. I contacted this company about buying this skirt, http://www.shopnational.com/product.cfm/wc/903000/sgid/4643_ They said no problem, just fax your order and credit card details and we will send it. I also had the same response from a shoe company.

    If you want to buy shoes from the US on the Internet, try this company. I have bought 2 pairs from them and their service is excellent. http://www.funkypair.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=240

  8. Why are humans programmed to regard tall people as more desirable ?

    It pisses me off being 5'9" and being regarded as somehow less of a person.

    I was thinking a while back of the time I was invited to a yachting friend's wedding. Nigel knew me as this character who single hands 32 foot sailing boats, repairs leaking toilets in force 8 gales without throwing up, can hoick out anchors which bigger guys can't, a half-decent navigator, a bon viveur in some respects, can cook and likes his wine. Some of this aura had preceeded my arrival at his reception (his parents had never met me).

    I was introduced as 'this is Xaphod' and got the comment 'oh, I thought you would be taller !'

    GRRRRRR

    Xa

    Gosh, I thought you were at least 6 foot! Another one of my illusions shattered. :D

  9. Its the usual predictable stuff that you get from the tabloids when high heels or tight skirts come back into fashion. The fashion editor shoves a dolly bird reporter out of the door in high heels or a tight skirt to report on the down side of this latest fashion in the hope that it will not catch on so she won't have to wear it!

  10. Actually high heels and skirts are no longer the main items of women's clothing, in fact a lot of women don't own a skirt or high heel shoes and are strongly opposed to wearing them. If you look on some of the women's forums you will find a lot of discussions on this subject.

    In the link below several women are discussing whether to wear a skirt and high heels to work in the office, but are worried what the other women will say!!!

    I was surprised how many women were anti skirts and heels, look at the link below, if you didn't know that it was women it could be straight out of the HH/place Forum!

  11. I seldom run in heels as I nearly always wear them with a long straight skirt, which discourages you from running anyway. In the fifties when I was at school, I used to watch the older girls running for the Bus in their straight skirts and high heels. They used a delightful hopping, skipping trot when they were in a hurry, but having tried it myself I must say that its very risky and tricky to do. If you stumble in the heels the hemline of skirt catches around your legs and trips you up. I never run in a skirt and heels unless I really have too.

  12. Jeff, Just a few pointers. If you are going to go out in a skirt and heels wear black, it makes you look smaller. Most important ditch the beard, you see loads of big women in black skirts and stilettos, but with a beard?! If you go out in a skirt you don't need to try and look like a woman you just need to suggest it. If anybody sees you in poor light they will note your skirt, heels and great legs and will automatically think that you are a woman. When they see your beard, its really going to set alarm bells ringing in their head! I always wear dark colours, mostly black and dark Navy and never anything with a pattern. Look for straight skirts that are fully lined, they are much more comfortable to wear and feel great. I never wear straight skirts that are slit, as the top of the slit is always a weak point and the stitches break there if you over stress the skirt. Besides I don't like the feel of a skirt which is open halfway up the back. I either sew up the back seam right down to the hemline or convert the overlapping back vent into a knife pleat which gives me more than enough room for walking. If you wear 4" heels with a straight skirt it makes it easer to walk in the skirt. I personly don't like wearing knee lengh boots with a straight skirt as you can't feel the hemline on your calves which warns you when you are getting near the limit of the skirt, little things like this make a tight skirt easer to wear. If you wear a black roll neck sweater with a black skirt and some of these great Pleaser pumps that you have, with a jacket with a hood, no one will notice you at night.

  13. A problem I have noticed with these long knit skirts is that they cling to hose. Most leather skirts have a built in lining and my other cloth skirt is knee length and made of a smooth material that does not cling. It never occurred to me that I would soon be shopping for a slip.

    If you are going to get a slip make sure that it is cling resistant as some slips can be worse than an unlined skirt for clinging to hose and bare legs.

    Its always best to buy a fully lined skirt, especialy when it comes to straight skirts as it makes all the difference to the feel and comfort of the skirt.

    Long straight skirts are tricky to wear at the best of times, the last thing you want is a skirt that's clinging to your legs all the time. Chose one that's got a rich satin lining and feel the difference!

  14. Its interesting reading this forum about men debating about wearing a skirt. There is a similar forum at http://chat.dailymail.co.uk/dailymail/forum.jsp?forum=296 in which several women are discussing whether they can wear a skirt at work. A couple of them say that all the women in their office now wear trousers all the time and they would feel out of place in a skirt and high heels and are afraid of being ridiculed by the other women, makes interesting reading.

  15. So I think that this can be the start of nice discussion...

    I had a PU shoe from The Highest Heel but I used to wear them barefeet and just for short periods, so I never had problems with sweat or nilons.

    One thing I noticed at that time (I don't have these shoes today) is that the shoes never got ruined even after a long time beeing worn and worn again. They had the same looking as they had when new.

    So, I think that PU shoes has some advantages:

    - they don't deform so they can stay looking as new;

    - they are shiny;

    - they are cheaper then leather made shoes.

    And the disadvantages:

    - they don't deform so they can hurt your feet;

    - the leather look is nice because of the texture;

    - they tend to be made just for fun (aka wear at bed or for short periods).

    Anyone wants to put some points?

    Heels for all!

    Flavio. (taking a tea for the cold)

    I agree, all my shoes are PU now, they last ok and when they wear out you just buy a new pair. I have just bought a pair of Pleaser PU 4" stilettos from

    www.funkypair.com for $50, you can't knock that can you?

  16. A question regarding this topic: When out and about in a skirt, what do you keep your wallet, keys, loose change and other little items in? I mean, the tiny pockets of a skirt can only hold so much. What are our options? A small backpack? A man purse? A woman's purse? What can we use that would work best for us? Any suggestions?

    ;)

    I fit a "D" ring on the front right-hand side of the waistband of some of my straight skirts to keep my keys on when I go out. I got the idea from the women at my local bank who wear straight skirts which are too slim to be able to have pockets.
