  1. You're quite right.  I must compliment you, too, on your use of initials.  How else would I have got the image of JR played by Larry Hagman singing The Power of Love.  Worthy of Shatner!

What about this?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTeGwNHEEFk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlrR66WX74g

I'm not quite sure how to respond to the image you've conjured up :-?.  Perhaps Leonard Nimoy reciting Shakespeare from the Spitting Image sketch?

Turning to your submissions, what a joy.  I'd consider these to be cat 1.  I don't think either is notably better; just different.  I appreciate the simplicity of LS but the M version is the first I heard.

I have two further offerings with roots in the '70s.  The first is:

    and
    or

    And then there's:

    and

I'll let you all find the MC version for additional consideration, should you be so inclined.

(I'm not sure how to post links without embedding the YouTube preview for these.)

  2. It's hard with the first one, could be category one or three. Without doubt the second is category 3. Dolly Parton's is heartbreaking while Whitney Houston's is ear-rending

In both cases I don't think the original has been bettered, so neither fit category 2, IMO. I concur with your comment about WH's overpowering bellows in place of DP's subtlety and fragility; thus it falls into category 3.

I think similarly about CD's version of the first song; over-produced, overpowered and missing integrity; so definitely category 3. I only found HF's version when looking for the original and was impressed; I had thought I wouldn't ever want to hear a cover of JR, but I felt it worthy of category 1 - a fine rendition and tribute with its own merits.

Maybe the commonality here with CD/WH is the big money record companies behind "A" list stars at the height of their earning powers?

  3. I don't think anyone should be expected to sit through one of these twice.  Probably against the Geneva Convention.  A plea to all to do your homework, which means we expect you to listen to all these soul destroying songs too.  Like a club where initiation never ends.

Apologies to all for having missed your earlier posting of this assault on the ears; the links don't seem to embed the video on my browser so I have to look at each separately to see the daily offerings.

  4. That means excluding Value Added Tax in the UK. i.e. If it is sold to a UK/EU resident the VAT is charged and the total cost is £160, but if shipped outside UK/EU then only £133.33 is charged. To ship to the USA would then attract whatever import duty/tax is levied by US Customs. Hope this helps.

  5. Not sure if you've ventured out yet. Never been to the WOC so can't comment, but it seems to still be active from a quick Google. You might also consider somewhere like Torture Garden. I have been there and had a great time. I was a newbie, but felt the whole night was one of the best (although tiring) I'd had in ages.

  6. Wow you really have got bottle

I wouldn't call it bottle; more that following the breakup of my marriage, for which I pretty much capitulated my personality, I decided to live my life by my rules, not by social "rules" that have no intelligent foundation. So, for the past year I've been freestyling.

I said I rarely get any comments, but I'd be lying if I said it had all been plain sailing, though. You will be noticed if you venture out; it's just that most people don't comment.

ive just moved down this way from London and just getting to know these places you mention like reflex and its ok here, are you from near here or just come for nights out?

I've lived within a 25 mile radius of the area for most of my life. I don't go to those places as often as I used to, though. Guess I'm just getting older.

  7. Welcome to the forum from another 40 something heel wearing bloke in the South East Essex area. It's been a while since I posted, but as you are relatively local I had to say hello. Just for encouragement, I have worn heels in and around various pubs and clubs in the Southend area - O'Neills, Reflex, Hamlet Court, The Cricketers, and Mariners Court to name but a few (I can't remember them all). Also, while shopping, eating out, etc, and not just locally. Rarely any comments. I believe in full fashion freedom for men (similar to JeffB, of whose jaunts I regularly read) and so can been seen in knee high boots with 2 to 3 inch heels and mostly worn with a skirt. Hope you enjoy the forum.

  8. Only time I've seen a guy wearing heels was in April 2007 in a London fitting room for a boot retailer. I was the only customer in the shop, getting my first heels and chatting to the sales girl: Me - "Do you get many men here buying for themselves?" Her - "A few, but not many" The next customer through the door was a guy, already wearing heels, jeans and jacket. I though it was funny, and so did the sales girl. Can't recall the style or height of his shoes/boots as I was too engrossed in my own fitting.

  9. Looking at those pictures, you put together a sharp professional look and pull it off well. Do you wear the skirt suit look for work, or just out and about? I concur with your experiences meeting women; although I'm usually in a denim mini and boots. I have more success when wearing skirt and boots than ever in just jeans and t-shirt.

  10. Hi All, I was linked here from a post on a like minded forum for skirt wearing men, thus the username. I am a 40something male and my interest in heels developed in very recent years as an extension of my desire to wear other items of clothing more traditionally associated as female attire. I briefly tried the TV thing but found that I have no desire to present as a woman; just the freedom to wear whatever I choose as long as I am covering the bits that should be covered in the interests of decency. My real interest is in calf/knee boots and I have three pairs with 2 to 3 inch heels. This was brought about from my skirt wearing; I don't like the look of traditional mens dress shoes with a skirt - heels look so much better.
