well, I hope to have a prototype ready early april - we'll take it from there. and folks - with that heel height the ball of the foot always gets elevated - the only question is how far you bend the toe back. those sharp angled oxfords actuially ahve the same curve inside and just fake the sharp angle on the outside. and yes we will beoffering court shoes, ankle straps, locking , boots, etc. I am just a fan of Oxfords, that's why I used them for an example :-) Price is still wide open, expect maybe 200 EUR for an Oxford. we are also debating using the same piece of leather that makes the shoe to cover the heel - looks very elegant! cheers Bernhard

absolutely - details are still being argued - but we will do them - and the heel height will consistently be 69% og foot length - do your own math

Hi Rob, gimme about another 2-3 months and I am going to attempt to do exactly that - style and high heels in the 50's style. And my website won't be sleazy, I can promise you that. cheers Bernhard

like your avatar, the boatshoe? hmm, we can still change that, mind you, they will be as steep, just with a more pronounced arch.
-
Hi folks, quite a while ago I posted about my intent to sell 50's style high heels online and we are currently working on lasts. the model would be this one:
heel height would be around 18cm for size 39 (EU, not China!) and price would be around 200 EUR (very tentative, can still vary a lot).
who would be interested in shoes made from this last? be they court shoes, oxfords, boots, sandals? What do you think the market chances are? Platforms will be available, as will be diferent heel shapes (eventually).
cheers

Do any of you wear boots with shorts? Not Bermudas I mean? cheers Bernhard

hmm folks that wasn't actually my question. my question was more whether my calculations are indeed correct. that maost manufacturers don't do it that way is a sad truth ... cheers Bernhard
-
Folks, especially Dr.Shoe
I ahev been wondering about the way heel height scales with foot size becuase the way most manufacturer seem to ncrease heel height disproportionally less than foot size. Have a look at and whether I am right or wrong?
cheers

excellent article gene! thanks. Bernhard

any of you wearing thigh boots with shorts or skirts? cheers Bernhard

Anita: I am getting a bit worried about Achilles tendong shortening - you still able to walk around barefoot without pain? Maybe doing some stretching exercises? Achilles tendeon shortening seems to be a rathe permament thing and could confine you to a wheelchair in your old age. Apart from that> More power to you and your training! Take it easy Bernhard

also looking at the design of the shoe from the picture: they are ultraheels with the ball of the foot is off the ground, which really only may work if one is a very lithe lady?
-
I like them but they are only available in women's 10 to 11. I have 13, sometimes even 15 (EU 45) ... :-( Bernhard
-
Hi I remember a post in a different thread that mentioned that male heels were available in the 1890s. Does anybody have pictures? thanks Bernhard
-
hmm. I like the top 2 actually. Ellie? where are they (on the net) and do they do EU 45? cheers Bernhard

Hmm: all time favourites are Oxfords. Shoes need an arch, if they just go straight up, they are ugly. Thin stilettoes can be very dodgy, I quite like louis heels, also the chunky look with platforms. A lot depends on the combination. Platforms, like in those stripper shoes that one sees everywhere at the mom are ugly. The re are nicer versions around. Also platforms should be around 3 cm to look good. And they should not be used to reduce the instep! 15 (6 in) cm instep + 3 cm platform = 18 cm heel! 2nd favourite are knee boots, or locking ankle ones. cheers Bernhard

anybody got a webpage for Barrets? And trolldeg: what do you mean, I do not see a picture linked? thanks Bernhard
-
Hi guys :-) what I don't see at all is knee-high lace-up boots that aren't fetish. My ideal would be something like a sturdy round-toed boot with a thick sole and a chunky heel and a profile sole with let's say a 4.5" instep. Or even a slightly daintier version. But lace-up boots! There were some pretty ones about but they are gone :-(
-
well, I like certain platforms and I actually feel that for a given lift they make walking easier in a well designed shoe. Mainly because I don't get the deformation of my feet by the very thin soles when walking on the street but also generally speaking. I agree that most platform shoes that come out of the US at the moment are exceedingly ugly, but there are nice ones around. will post link later. cheers Bernhard

well, they certainly are pony boots and if I had a pony, that's what she would be wearing. Looks a lot nicer and safer that anything else I have seen. Bernhard

Hi, does anybody know what actual sizes the boat shoes are (as stocked by arch enemys)? I have seen a conversion chart on the web specifically for them where they come out as US women's 13 being 43.5 EU. Anybody have experinece with them? Thanks Bernhard
-
Now I am envious! That's exactly the kind of shoes I am looking for!
also what sizes does steve madden use? UK or US? and if it is UK they stop at size 10 - I have 10 1/2. But nice boots! http://www.stevemadden.com/PRODUCT_IMAGES/FULLTON207.jpg

hmm. that is doable if you lace regularly but not the way you did it. just wear your corset more and get used to it
Advice is available on the web - for instance at www.staylace.org.

does anybody have experience with www.fantasiawear.com and their thigh-highs? I adore the one with the 2.5" heel.

absolutely - no plastic will be used - price difference is irrelevant anyway. BTW what is people's opinion: dye leather sole black or leave in natural colour? I am all for the latter. Bernhard
