  1. I love the eyelet lacing especially on vintage boots but for the opposite reason: The fun of lacing boots up! It seems that this isn't fun for you. at9 gave you the easiest method. The problem with changeing fast lace hooks with eyelets would be the removement of the hooks. You have to take care not tearing the leather by removing the hooks. Inserting the eyelets would not be a problem with the right sized eyelets and the right tool. By the way: How do you lace your boots up? Hook by hook? There is a really quick method by grabbing both ends of the laces and lace the up together.

  2. From time to time there is a little gem popping up on ebay and you got to be at the right place on time. These one seem to be made in the late 30s maybe. They are unmarked but I expect them being from Regent Shoe Stores. I love the vintage lace up style that would hug the ladies legs perfectly. And the full eyelet lacing is a celebration of putting boots on and off. :) Does anyone have some vintage heels from Regent? A pair of them was sold on ebay lately.

  3. Sounds interesting to me at least and also heard of that style in events/parties in the London area. Don't think that here in Austria/Germany are any ... 40/50s are not a time to bring back to life here ... strange touch, cause of the fascist regime. Maybe one needs to fly over to England to join such a party.

    There are some events.

If you are interested in this time try www.return2style.de

They also have a forum where you can find hint sto such events or parties.

  4. So the price range seems to be nearly the same. I once had two pairs of Jean Gaborit boots (or Glamourboots) and have to say that they make boots in very fine quality: The leathers, the stitching and everything else. But I also can assure you that they run one size small with high heels (flats are nearly true to size). That is the only recommendation I can make about the three makers you named. Good luck with your choice!

  5. Heads up, Gina, life can be rude sometimes! For what reason do you think your family played the roles they usually do not like? Don't you think they did it because they love you? Maybe you should tell them what you told us. People can mak mistakes sometimes becasue we are human. What would Oli think about it? I think you have managed much worse situations. TV is just a factory of illusions... All the best  manoleat

  6. If they are not made to order they would take the boots back for sure and send you the next size. But you still have to pay the postage so you better avoid that. I assure you that if you are wearing a size 42EU in flat shoes a size 9UK Leatherworks high heel boot will fit. You should not try to compare your fit in Rimba boots with the possible fit in Leatherworks boots.

  7. Hi Mike, I made the experience both with the now defunct Little Shoe Box and Leatherworks boots that they generally run one size small. Usually a size 38EU relates to a size 5UK. In this case you should buy a size 6UK from Leatherworks and you will be fine. If you are wearing a size 43EU which should be a 9UK, order a 10UK instead. Sandals can have another fit but for boots the height of the heel in conjunction with the style of the toe box requires one size larger. Good luck with Leatherworks. Have fun, manoleat P.S.: If you would like to have a german version of this statement send me a PM.
