  1. So I took my first tiny step toward public heeling today...and when I say tiny, I mean TINY!

This is going to sound ridiculous to all you public heelers, but it's as much as I've been able to manage so far:

I had to go to the supermarket and then to get some petrol. While I didn't have the guts to wear my heels into the supermarket  I put my heels on before going to the petrol station. I knew it was a pay at pump station, and thought "OK I won't have to walk ANYWHERE, just stand there and fill the tank". I thought I'd probably bottle out like I have done before, but this time I didn't. I parked with the filler cap close to the pump so I'd be hidden between the pump and the car, but that meant I had to walk round the car to get there (it's on the passenger side).

It was a great feeling standing there in my heels filling the car. A guy in a Sky TV van at the pump in front noticed my shoes as he walked round his van to the driver's side, but just had a quick look and then got into his van. I watched out of the corner of my eye to see if he watched me as he drove off but he didn't, he just drove off.

The shoes I was wearing were my New Look black glitter pumps with a 5" heel with my dark men's skinny jeans over black tights. The shoes are these ones, but in black (they don't seem to have the black ones on the site anymore).

I know this is a tiny step, but for me it was pretty big!

Thanks everyone on this site for their encouragement :cry1:

  2. Greetings Spiker :-)

It was a pleasure: I always like to try new shoes ! (And it is a plus if It may help someone else...)

So did you receive the gray ones ? I'm sure they will look good with your skinny jeans.

I did thanks! I've been meaning to take some pictures. I bought the grey ones and was disappointed when they arrived they had a black mark on them that stood out like a sore thumb. Eventually figured out how to return them and bought another pair, and this time I added the black and white snakeskin ones as well!

You were right about the toebox being tight, although strangely it affects me more in the snakeskin ones than it does the grey ones.

Thanks again for your help, I need to do a picture taking session as I've bought a good few pairs recently!

  3. Tanya, Thanks for the quick reply - I'm looking forward to the photos (although with shoes that nice I can't see me being able to resist buying a pair of my own for very long!). Thanks again. Spiker.

  4. Hi everyone, thought I would share with you my latest purchase. Not quite the brand name I would normally hark on about..but I love the colour and chuffed that 5inch heels are 'high street' now. I found them in the 'most popular' section, so expect to see many real life sightings of these in the UK:smile:

Cant wait for them to be delivered...

They look very similar to my own personal faves - "Hottie" by The Highest Heel - which in turn look very like a certain Louboutin shoe. I think the Schuh ones look a more satisfying red though.

I think I may be purchasing a pair...

Thanks for the heads up! Any review you feel like giving when you receive them will be gratefully received.

  5. At one point in time, many catalogs would have considered those to be 5 inch heels. I remember the Montgomery Ward catalog showing how they measured the height of the heel by measuring from the floor, up the inside of the heel until it met the sole of the shoe. Now, it seems, it is as shown in this photo.

That seems crazy to me...how would you measure wedges for example?!

    :cry1:

  6. danielp6406, Thank you so much for making this trip just for me! I had a feeling they might be quite narrow at the toe box. I've decided to order the grey for now and see how I go! I'll post some pictures when they arrive - perhaps with my skinny jeans as suggested! Thanks again. Spiker.

  7. no, no, no, no. You are all wrong, except denisegurl2. No. 2 is the best look. :chuckle:

Of course, I'm very partial to black, so I'm probably a bit biased.

Put the skirt from number 2 with the shoes from number 4 - THEN you've got something!

  8. Jeff, As I started reading about your latest jaunt (after the first outfit) I thought "He looks good as always, but maybe needs to expand his skirt collection" - and then I got to the second jaunt and WOW! That blew me away! It's criminal we're not "allowed" to dress like this as a norm, because as you've shown a man in a skirt can look DAMN GOOD! Thanks as always. Spiker.

  9. danielp6406, That would be perfect, thanks. The Ledec aren't available here in the UK so it is the Franchettes I would be looking at. I can't decide whether to go for the grey or the black patterned ones. I think I'll probably end up buying both! Thanks again. Spiker.

  10. danielp6406,

I did know I'm lucky yes thanks! I see all the posts on here about guys who struggle to find their size anywhere and am very grateful I don't have that problem. It gets a little embarrassing sometimes when buying men's shoes but that's a small price to pay!

BTW, the question was "Are your feet normal or narrow ?" (not normal or wide)

My mistake yes, the previous post was made from my iPhone so I couldn't see your post properly. I guess you're probably right - they're probably about normal (for a man).

So, do you want me to "investigate" those Aldo's shoes for you ?

If you're in the area that would be fantastic, thanks very much! Don't go to any trouble though, I can always return them to Aldo if they don't fit.

    Thanks again.

  11. danielp6406, That's a kind offer, thanks...to be honest I don't know if my feet are wide or normal. I wear a US women's size 9 (small feet run in my family). I find most of my Pleaser heels to be tight in the toe area, but my Highest Heel Hotties are pretty comfy. Thanks again. Spiker.

  12. For example, my twinkletoes fit in anything from a square-toed EU 38 to a narrow pointy EU 40, but when I used to buy guy's shoes, it was always UK size 6.

    Xa

Talking about buying guy's shoes in the past tense - how cool is that!:chuckle:

I would love to be able to do that!

    Congrats Xaphod.

  13. I figured everyone would notice, but they don't! Picture yourself when you go into a public place, a grocery store for instance. When you have a task to focus on, you really don't pay much attention to anybody else in the store.

Of course you're right, but I think the thing that makes it harder is I bet everyone on this board would notice what kind of heels everyone in the store was wearing as we're constantly scouting for them (I know I am anyway). So we just imagine that everyone else is doing the same.

  14. Spiker... Good point but when it comes to design I think YSL are way ahead of Leatherworks. Have you seen some of the horrific corset lace platforms they make?

Yes - I've not actually bought from Leatherworks, I just thought they had a pretty good reputation on here for quality. Looks like I may be wrong on that front. The YSL Tributes are fantastic - I just can't justify spending £300-£400 for a pair of shoes that will likely never see the light of day!

Leatherworks aren't a patch on the Laboutines at Dagenham, if you put them side by side you'll see how crude the leatherworks shoes really are. I mean they're fine for the price but they aren't that special.

Thanks for that Dr Shoe, if anyone knows about quality it's you. I've just looked back through the whole "Fake Louboutin funds global terrorism" debate and noticed that you paid £70 for some fake Louboutins so maybe £100 isn't too OTT.

I wonder what my local equivalent of Dagenham market would be?
