  1. I have to agree. And I think the female populace is more open then the men are. girls are so cool about it when they see me in lipstick or heels.

Just don't believe everything you read after news stories about us guys in skirts, heels, hose/tights, make-up, (I'm all of the above by the way) those commenters are just the noisy ones. I've been who I am for years and my girls can attest that I'm considered the "cool" dad, the one their friends wish they had.

  2. And now for some sad news from Eggnog's dad (Aka tightsnheels :).)

Eggnog is back home in St. Louis as of Friday Sept. 16, the school messed up her financial aid and wouldn't wait for the loans to disperse (on the 23rd.) They cut off her meal plan and basically told her to get lost. So it was one third of the fortune they wanted for her to stay to bring her home than to leave her there, homeless and hungry.

  3. Of course, there was a time, way back in the deep, dark recesses of long-forgotten history, when one did not *need* a manual to use a phone! (Just imagine!) But then, that was back in the days when phones were heavy, clumsy instruments that were screwed to walls or sat on tables or desks and had to be attached to the network by means of long filaments of copper commonly called "wires". But in those days, you never had to even think about how many "bars" you had, or how much juice was left in your battery or where you left your charger!

Hey I still have one of those! It even has a round *dial* with ten holes in it that you place a finger in and spin to input the number you wish to dial. Seems archaic but it still functions and as you said no manual needed.

  4. As horrible as this sounds, my take is, the manual is on the phone, and if your not smart enough to find it, you shouldn't be using the phone in the first place lol.... :)

According to Verizon Google is my friend just type what you need to know about the phone and wa-la there's your answer. Ha, ha, ha, the problem is which of the gazillion pages has the right answer and of course with my luck anytime I have done that I must be the only one to have ever had that question.

I think these days, it would be crazy not to password or pin protect your device if you have anything more than just a phonebook in it.

One of the attractions of the iphone for me was the remote wipe/lock facility, so "if" I were to loose it, or more importantly, should it get nicked, I can wipe it remotely too

I agree whole heartedly, we carry way too much info in our phones these days especially people like me who have multiple novels and short stories going at once and believe it or not I do a lot of my typing in mine.

Is the wipe/lock function a built in, or a separate app? Just curious as it sounds like a phenomenal idea.

  5. My phone is better than your iPhone or Droid because you don't have to worry about all the apps getting in the way of making a call! It's simple and easy to use. You don't have to worry about "There being an app for that" you just make your call.

And randomly calls your father while you are not looking.:) Like it did today.

Several people at work try to use I-phones, please note try. Phones look good, probably made well except for that whole antenna thing but service sucks and now that the only provider does not offer unlimited data it really hurts those that are now buying. In full discloser though Verizon no longer offers the unlimited plan either (some of us managed to get that plan though and don't plan to lose it.:lmao:)

As much as I love my Droid I can see where I-phone people get their attachments as well, especially since my last phone was a Windoze 5 model that would only sync with a couple older versions of Windoze and then would scramble your documents internally with a large helping of delete added for fun. I love the fact that the Droid syncs my contacts with my Google account (even if this does mean storing them in the cloud) so they are much harder to loose, and that it will work with both my Linux system and two out of date Windoze systems.

With any new smart phone though their seems to be a myriad of apps, so many in fact that it seems that most really have no purpose. (Although I'd like to know where Doc found the metal detector app.)

Curious is it just the Droid or do all of the new smart phones come with no user manual?

  6. Like you tech I can't stand apple stuff, (bad experiences here to) not that the modern stuff isn't well built, it's just too pricey.

I have accessed the site on my Droid (which works well with my Linux OS:silly:) and have had no issues apart from zooming in and out.

I hope you enjoy your new gadget and get many good years of service.

  7. Glad you liked the coil over idea, as to the hesitation if the filter doesn't fix it you may consider the accelerator pump, its a small rubber diaphragm on the carburetor and they get stiff and perforated from sitting too long.

Also if it were to need a carburetor consider finding a local mechanic that can rebuild it for you as my local parts suppliers have warned me that the store bought rebuilts aren't worth the money.

  8. I wouldn't read to much into it... It's far more unusual for a guy to walk out of a store wearing heels than for a gal to do the same thing and unusual stories attract more readers.

    Charlie

It's also just as unusual for a guy to walk in, in heels. I agree unusual stories do attract attention but I do agree with Al only go in with obvious wear on the soles (maybe good advice for all actually.) As for me haven't bought any new shoes in awhile so mine are all several seasons old.

  9. The rear end is a bit low, but I can't afford to replace the springs in it, so I'll have to get creative for a solution in the meantime.

May I suggest coil over helper springs, they go over the rear shocks to increase payload capacity but also do wonders for sagging rears.

My 80 chev silverado. Built it from the ground up. Now has a 402 big block fully blown with a shift kit and possy. ETC :)

Blown and completely under the hood, sweet. The proverbial sleeper sure hope you enjoy that bad boy (or girl depending on the trucks personality.)
