  1. Did you also notice, when looking from behind, that many women do not really walk properly with those heels in the sense

that their right foot is not straight, but instead of 90 degrees, the heel makes an angle that is more like 70 degrees or less?

It is always the right foot. Nobody could explain this to me.

I do think that's because they are sitting cross-legged most of the time since childhood (at home working or eating, at the restaurant, in bars "izakaya"...).

Such "abuse" of this position make their knees turn inside, maybe more for the right leg because cross-legged sitting position is not symmetrical : the right foot is more bent when above the left knee, whereas the left foot is less bent under the right knee.

I hope you see what I mean.

  2. Well I got told off by one of the men at work yesterday evening.

"why aren't you wearing your boots" he said in a quite stern manner implying almost that he expected me to wear my heels every day. I told him not to worry I would be wearing them regularly just had a change to shoes on this particular day.

Just goes to show that once people get used to the idea they don't only accept us in heels but they actually expect it.

This is my experience as well.

    +1

  3. I threw up some heels when I was around 20 years old, because of guilt. Now, either I sell them if they are still wearable, either they are completely worn-out and it takes ages before I decide to throw them up...

  4. Technically, I found it not so bad. And certainly not worse than a flash-powered website. The very problem is that the pictures are way too heavy. They should at least have made them progressive. Oh, and about the shoes shown here, these styles are not my taste.

  5. There will be a shift in your center of gravity (forward) that is probably greater than this test shows. The difficult thing with a simple test like this is that it doesn't just show the shift imparted by the heels, but the wearer's ability to under/over correct for the shift. Pretty sure the results would be found to be unreliable if you sampled a larger group of people because everyone's corrective response will be different.

That's exactly why I'm asking if anyone has similar test results !

  6. We all know the influence of heels on our gravity center, but here is a test that proves it ! I used my Wii balance board and I found this (sorry Wii fit is in French as it is my native language, but words aren't really important here) : Here is the first result when I am barefooted on the balance board : post-1845-0-51625900-1348861022_thumb.jp Then when I wear 2" heels (5cm) : post-1845-0-71590500-1348861038_thumb.jp Then when I switch to 3.5" heels (8cm) : post-1845-0-43251800-1348861054_thumb.jp And finally when I wear 4.5" heels (11cm) : post-1845-0-27501000-1348861068_thumb.jp As you can see, my gravity center is far from where it should be when I'm barefooted, and gets better as I wear higher heels. It seems that the best heel height for me would be around 4" (10cm). Now I am curious and I would know if any of you have already done that test ?

  7. They look great especially with the tops turned down and would look awesome with skinny jeans and a sheepskin jacket/coat. Those boots with bare legs and a denim skirt/shorts is a trendy look if you have the legs and confidence for it.

Thanks for the advice. I don't like shorts much, but I should give a try with skinny jeans.

  8. All, I'm quite a fan of wedges for sure. There is no better shoe for stability in someone's back yard on the grass or walking on trails but still wanting some sort of high heel. One can show off the pedicure and get some sense of reasonable stability. If you're ever invited to an outdoor wedding and want to wear some heels then wedges are the choice! HappyinHeels

That matches my opinion quite well !

I own several wedges and I love them !

  9. Yes, I often drive in heels but if I wear high heels (more than 3"), I switch to a pair of old ballerina flats that always stay in my car for that purpose, and switch back to heels once I park. I like to drive in high heels, but I think that's not safe. And could I honestly pretend to be serious if I had an accident with 5" heels on my feet ?
