  1. A few random tips. Patience. You might not get there as fast, but that's just more time to be seen. The higher the heel the shorter the stride, it's just physics of the foot and ankle. Keep your shoulders back and don't hunch over. Relax your buttocks, let them sink down onto your thighs, loosen up and roll naturally. This requires faith that the landing heel will catch and hold. If you walk gingerly, like you would on ice, it always looks bad. The way to learn to walk glacefully, confidently and naturally in high heels is to practice in even higher heels. When you go back to slightly lower heels, they will feel great.

  2. As someone who has lived with lower grade symptoms of Aspergers all my life, I can tell you that your syndrome likely carries some obsession or at least fascination with tactile stimulous and textures. The "feel" of the clothes may be stimulating or relaxing to you on a level most people don't experience. It may help to explain this to your parents.

I agree that honesty is the only policy. In your situation you can probably just be open about your "thing" and expect people to accept that. Be a responsible and reliable adult in the important things and this quirk should be no big thing.

Don't pressure yourself or let others pressure you to be gay or full crossdresser, if your thing is just shoes. I experimented and pushed the edge and came back again.

  3. electromechanical counting relays.

I remember them. Early in my career (1980's) I worked for a company that maintained a then-ancient mechanical hotel PBX system. The relays stepped through contacts for each pulse of the rotary dial. What a glorious clatter this closet sized box made while people made calls.

I dig wanting to stay close to the pinball machine's roots.

My current hobby project is a tube guitar amp, based on an old bogen 35Watt PA amp. The unusual part of it is an even harmonics generator based on a variable Mu pentode normally used for hetrodyne mixing in radio circuits. The odd harmonics come from the mainly symmetrical clipping of the push-pull output. They are controllable separately. Unfortunately between the cold workshop and being busy at the real job, I haven't been at it very much.

  4. I've found myself intrigued by these new pumps from Pleaser, the pointy toed "Classique".

Great shoe, Jeff. I may need to get them. My Nine West pumps that style are getting worn out. (Qouted just to put up that picture again)

I have 10 or 15 pounds on you and i've had very little trouble with heels breaking. Some really cheap heels will loosen up and wobble, especially after getting too wet, and I've had a few bend a slight bit but they can be carefully bent back. Mind you, I'm often deliberately hard on heels when the fetish interests overtake the fashion ones.

In short, go for it. Don't let this fear hold you back. For the most part, heels are a lot stronger than they look. Just mind the tips.

  5. Nice collection, all of which i'd wear publicly. I recently got this pair from the Nine West outlet.

Have you ever gone through airport screening with your filled hollow heels? I imagine they might get curious.

  6. I'm a political junkie and i've gotten all the election details i need from various websites - except one. I'm interested in the results of the race for town council of a little farm country village somewhere in western New York state. How about it, ILikeKicks, did Tuesday bring you a new gig?

  7. Awesome shoes, HiSti. I'm a big fan of needle heels, micro stilletoes, or whatever they are called. My budget is grateful those aren't available in 12W.

    Tips:

1.I have a pair of needle heels from JRenee, and I can tell you you pretty much need metal tips. Nothing else will hold up.

    2. I once left a heel tip in the caulk expansion joint of a sidewalk. Fortunately I was able to go back and find it, and the heel end wasn't damaged.

    3. Consider carefully the mileage you put on. They won't last forever. I foolishly wore mine to a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. I wish I had that mile back.

  8. In spite of the red shoes, the total look is classy, elegant and understated, as i'm sure is your objective. If you want to turn heads try bright red boots. (Dang, TBG is getting inside my head).

I loved the red heels in my profile pic. Bet then i missed a step on concrete stairs at a highway rest area, and ripped a heel clean off. I had the handrail or i could have been seriously hurt. The shoes were cheap and well worn, not worth repairing.

  9. If you go where people are hanging out because they're bored, you'll get more negative reaction. Try grocery shopping at a distant store away from your normal circles of aquaintence. People there are busy and preoccupied, it's unlikely you'll encounter someone you know.

I've done stilleto pumps with jeans and a tee in malls, home centers, hardware stores and restuarants, and I never had as much negative reaction as you've gotten. Keep trying, your confidence will grow, and you may find this outing was an anomaly.

  10. I have a very similar pair from Lane Bryant. I've worn them everywhere, church, work, shopping, and only once was called out by an outgoing southern belle who it turned out also had the heel gene. I can't really say what reaction people in your area may have, but my experience here would be 3 and 4.

Honestly if you are asked about it you can explain about the back pain. Cheapest orthopedic footwear you can get. Where are they available? They would be a good addition to my androgynous collection.

  11. Ditto, Bassheels. I don't feel feminine in heels, in fact i dig doing guy things, yard work, construction in my heels. I've worn my 4" heel boots on all sorts of jobsites and will continue to do so. I like the sound of a hard heel on a hard floor. I like the punishing pressure a stiletto can apply. I'm not an exhibitionist and don't just wear to be seen, but i don't care much who sees me either. I've worn more androgynous heels in front of clients, including churches.

My wife knows some of what i do and doesn't want to see me in heels, so i respect that.

  12. Pennsylvania is big place but you can try Nordstrom Rack, I just picked up a pair of 4.5 inch stiletto pumps patent black size13 there. If you want more casual or androgynus styles, Easy Spirit has plenty of shoes to size 12 that are usually wide enough to be comfy. Nine West also has a fair selection of 12s. Alot of other places you spend all your time looking for a 12 rather than selecting a cute style, or you find 12s that are narrow or undersized.

  13. Well, a few years ago i would have been the one seen in various malls, hardware and home stores in the area, wearing tee shirt, jeans, and patent black or red stiletto pumps. It's 98% didn't see or no reaction. The remainder do double- takes, look up down up down trying to resolve the incongruity or just smile and, rarely, comment, almost always nicely.

Now i'm in more androgynous styles, like my 3" chunky heel boots that pass for motorcycle boots and show enough dirt and wear to not really stand out as a fashion statement. No one visably reacts.

My wife still dislikes them, stating " You walk like a girl." Has anyone else been outed by their gait?

  14. but my son is already turning into a handful. I have been worried that my son could very well throw it back in my face in some way to get his way. He is already very challenging and is getting quite good at turning situations around when he doesn't want to do something, so yes, I can see this eventually coming into his usable toolkit .

That tool only has the power you give it. If you don't care who knows, he can't do anything with it.

  15. I came here via the forums at crossdressers.com. At the time they were mainly interested in "passing" as a woman. Man-in-a-skirt mode was somewhat frowned upon. I dabbled in that, but it really wasn't me, I was just there for the heels.

Since coming here i've become much more interested in androgynus borderline women's shoes, and wearing them openly. Before i was all about sexy stilettos but closet wearing only. This is progress in my book. There is no shame. I still have the patent pumps but rarely dig them out.

Not sure yet where it's headed, but thanks for the ride.

  16. Let me guess, Miguel Jones? There is the issue of a language barrier and a really lousy web interface. They normally do not charge for custom measurement but they do charge for extra height. If you did not pay extra for additional height the first time then i'd say the extra charge is acceptable. They are making a whole new pair for you. FWIW, they did the same for me when they didn't follow my directions.
