    Kneebooted,

Firstly, you are in SF don't worry about trying on shoes in a store. Wear the shoes of your choice and enjoy the experience. Paint your toes and get to it dude! I would wear wedges because of the variety of the terrain in SF. One suggestion is to head to the Haight-Ashbury section of SF. We visited the Amoeba record store at 1855 Haight Street which reminded me of the old Sam the Record Man store in Toronto from years ago and seemingly had everything ever put on vinyl. We parked on Haight Street and walked several blocks to the store. All along the street were thrift shops with all manner of clothes, shoes, wigs, and accessories at reasonable prices. SF has one of the highest ratios of thrift stores per population I have ever seen. My point: SF is a welcoming city so wear what you want and also offers lots of thrift chances to score some nice heels.

We also went to a Sharks game, a Giants game, and a 49ers game but we're big sports fans.

I drove all around SF but know the city. It can be challenging for the uninitiated. Better try the ample public transit.   Get out there and be yourself and forget about the normal self-imposed mind controls. Whatever you wear or do out there ensure it is done with confidence which tells the world " He owns it." HappyinHeels

I certainly found SF a better place than LA to wear heels as a guy, when it comes to reactions.

  2. I'm in Los Angeles right now and I'm surprised about the difference in selections in the various stores. On store didn't even have any womens shoes in size 12, while others just have sad selection. I made the journey out to Westfield in Culver City and that was   the best I'd been too. Bought 3 pairs as I have no more room in my suitcase for more than that. Male salesclerk was pretty cool about it .

I'll be leaving for Paris in about 2 months.I'll stay for probably 1 week.

Should I bring a pair of high heeled boots and walk around the town?

Are the Parisians openminded for something like that of should I expect a lot of stares?

I thought about bringing these (same model, but these are not mine: van-haren-boots-laarzen-enkellaarzen-6.j

I had no issues wearing 4" stiletto heels seversl occasions in Paris.

  4. By the way, the respons on Twitter for the commercial is really good

-There is just something in seeing men in heels. Yes. Looovely.

    - I agree! And I have a bit of a thing for men in heels, so here's hoping dudes get into it

-I am so here for the death-dropping/men in heels in the Axe commercials

-an axe commercial supporting men in heels? ? ? ? nice

-MEN IN HEELS IS MY FAVE THING OMG HELP

-The AXE commercial with the men in heels gives me life!

-Men in heels literally give me so much life

-I love men in heels. Fuck.

-just saw an axe commercial featuring men in heels and drag queens we are progressing people!!!!!

-CAN WE PLEASE MAKE MEN IN HEELS A THING

-Something about men in heels... why do I like this so much?

There's a few negative, but mostly positive

It gets easier every time. The demons are in our heads. Most people don't notice and those who do, don't care. Teenage girls in a group will giggle. That's mostly it.

    Steve

No sure I agree with that. People notice and people care, but very few of them will do it to your face and rarely you a hard time. I wear both pumps and boots a lot and while people DO notice, I rarely get any response. I think most people think it's a bit embarrasing, that a man would go around in heels, so you need to not care what people think and that's easier said than done.

    pumps,

Am curious if you have worn these pumps anywhere else? It was good you wore them to work. I'd certainly wear such pumps on shopping trips or such but I don't wear anything that low which backs up HiStiletto's point of them being a sensible height and style. I wear wedges and pumps in the warmer months and ankle/knee boots in the colder months. I have been known to wear Jessica Simpson "Carlow" sandals with stiletto heels in any month of the year if I was really determined. Which brings us to your desire to wear these pumps you have. Keep showing that determination and keep wearing them! All the best to you in 2016.   HappyinHeels

Yes, I bought them in NYC in november and wore them to a show the same evening meeting a lot of people I knew, out to dinner the day after and shopping the next day, where I received a few "nice shoes". I have also been wearing them shopping around here and when I went to vote last month. I like them so much that I have a hard time keeping them off my feet. I bough the same style in black patent earlier this year in San Francisco and liked the fit so much I wore them all the way home.. I'm not crazy about black patent, though, so I was happy to get these, too.

  7. They're 3" and they match pretty well with what I normally wear, so in that sense they're a pretty good choice. It doesn't look half bad.My coworkers know about my passion for heels and one of them have been wearing pumps a lot because I appreciate it, but I don't think any of them have any idea that I like to wear them too.One of the coworker told one of our new employees about my passion and hurried to add "... not in the sense that he wears them himself,". I was so close to say "how do you know that ?".

  8. I have been wondering whether or not I would like to wear heels to work, so today, when the company was supposed to be closed, I did just that. I was counting on nobody else being there but I could not be sure, so it was a bit nerve wrecking. I had to change briefly for the TNT guy, but other than that I did the whole day in these:

They're so comfortable and I'm sure now that if I could I WOULD wear these to work, but I'm just not sure of the reaction.

  9. the problem here in the uk, is that, the only biggest size is 8 uk, I mean heel shops here have missed the buck, and would double there money and sale, if they increase the size to 10 uk,
Funny. I used to think the UK was the place to get shoes bigger than 8, as Evans and Barratts would have them. We use to have very few places to get them, but ofcourse now we have Deichmann.
  10. @LuvyourShoes I briefly described my initial excitement of heeling (and skirting) in my thread, but looking back I got kinda carried away with my new lifestyle. I was bold enough to go dressed as I felt to work, the Personnel dept at first didn't seem to mind (similar to JeffB's ensembles, but a smarter pencil skirt for the office, and not denim). No worries about using transportation and everyone else around me didn't seem to bat an eyelid. (I wonder if they were trying to 'unsee' me :P ) but those closest to me caused the biggest issues. I see a parallel with Bruce Jenner in getting too carried away too quickly and once people stop liking or caring you just have to get on with your life on your own. I think I could have done things better and not been so arrogant but it seems anything that doesn't fall into the typical male template makes some partners uncomfortable or even hostile. At one point I was thinking I could have been TG / TS and looked into surgery (all bootleg stuff from Internet but the hormones didn't work as quickly as I had hoped). I decided just to keep to my clothing choices but Jenner showed me how things can go so wrong. I still love my heels (I love boots) but it was at a price. I think very few here have the backing of a supportive partner. Another issue is heeling is an expensive hobby so I have to save up to buy some more. As for the name calling yes it hurt but that's the way some people are
Would you mind telling me what wrong with Jenner and why you think she's a fool? It took a huge amount if courage to come out as transgender as a celebrity. Wearing heels and skirts does NOT make anyone transgender. I hope the women mentioned in this thread, who want their men masculine, are girly girls themselves or else I would call them hypocrates.
  11. Boris has returned to Parliament, but for the meantime, Eddie is wrapped up in his tour promotion in Europe, but we'll see what other outfits he comes up with. Last time he went back into male mode and was in regular guys clothing for a few years. He might forget politics for now. Interestingly there was a law passed that gave boys the option of skirts for uniform in school, and more teaching of LGBT issues as part of normal education. I assume boys will have to wear flats and sensible shoes with their skirts, but no heels  Eddie certainly introduced fashion freestyling to a very reserved UK public, but surprisingly no backlash for his fashion choices :)
Check out Twitter. People are making fun of him there.
