  1. It truly amazes me how much trouble some women have walking in high heels. And it also amazes me how easy it is for many men to walk in high heels. Not bragging by any means, but I've never had any problems walking in any type of high heeled footwear. And I know many women personally who can't walk or won't walk in high heels.

I couldn't agree more. I've had women tell me flat out that I walk in high heels better than they do, quite a compliment indeed. What I find humorous is when they ask how I manage that feat and I tell them, "Practice", their heads explode, as if that concept simply hadn't occurred to them. That makes me chuckle.

  2. I get my high heels repaired all over the place. I often 'steal the thunder' from the issue by wearing another pair of heels when I take shoes in for repair....and I have some pretty girly shoes to take in... and I never have had a bad experience yet.

And I'm guessing you wear a skirt as well. Am I right?

  3. 2) How do take thigh high boots, with stilletto heels, in a size 11 and ask the cobbler to resole them? Any good ideas on ways to approach the cobbler and see if he'll help a male who wears heels without causing emabarrasment to both parties?

    Cheers

Easy. Go into a repair shop with your boots and tell the cobbler that you need to have them resoled. Nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't need to know the boots are yours and that you wear them, frankly speaking, that's none of his damn business. Trust me, there won't be any embarrassment, I've done that very thing with my own thigh boots when I needed new tips, I simply go into a shop, tell the owner what I need done, period. Why explain something that doesn't need explaining, the only thing the cobbler should care about is doing the work for which you're willing to pay good money to have done. End of story.

  4. I agree with Heel-Lover fully. You don't want the top to overwhelm the skirt because of it's size. I also prefer snug tops like mock necks and turtlenecks which work very well with skirts of practically all styles and lengths. I alo agree with TBG, when you wear a shirt, you definitely want to have it neatly tucked into a skirt as so to present a clean line and profile. These things require time and practice and experimentation to find and discover what will work best.

  5. Bluejay: Many thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it! Scrappycoco: Boldness is purely in the eye of the beholder. Case in point, there are members here who are bolder than even me and have done things on their outings that I wouldn't dream of doing. I simply do the very best I can while on my little adventures, and, more importantly, have fun. Thanks for the compliment!

  6. Jaunt #137, 12/4/2011:

With the Eagles having played (and laid a colossal egg) Thursday night, the 1 p.m. games less than attractive and the weather delightfully pleasant, I headed off around 10 a.m. for a jaunt, garbed in my black faux leather jacket over a navy mockneck, the Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans in denim tucked into the Pleaser "Legend" thigh high boots and a black handbag. I headed to the Starbucks in the University City area with a book I had been reading, after waiting in line for a good fifteen minutes, I finally got my order of a large iced tea and headed off to find a chair, the store was packed with plenty of college twenty-somethings, yet no one paid me any attention, no one looked my way, admittedly, that surprised me a little. Finding a chair, I relaxed with my book and my drink, my legs primly crossed like a woman and spent a solid hour there, again, no one gave me so much as a glance the whole time, interesting to say the least. With five minutes before my time on the meter expired, I packed up and left.

My next stop was in Springfield and Red Lobster for lunch, I hadn't been there in years, and I wanted to try something different, so I went there. After arriving, I hopped right out and headed in, as I was being led to my table, I passed by two twenty-something black women, one of whom gave me a quick look and said "Nice boots", I smiled back and thanked her. After a very filling lunch of peppercorn steak (well done) and sauteed shrimp with ginger ale, a salad and rolls, I paid my bill and left, but, on my way out, I passed a trio of older black women and one of them said she liked my boots. Got a compliment coming and going in the same place. WHOO! Not bad, not bad at all! My third and last stop of the day was to the strip mall where the Borders bookstore used to be, but now, it was an empty shell, I'll admit to feeling a small pang because I missed the place, anyhoo, I went to the Hallmark store to buy some Christmas cards, there were a goodly number of shoppers there and no one noticed me there either.

It's a shame I'm such a fool for football and was eager to watch the New York Giants-Green Bay Packers 4 p.m. matchup, otherwise, I would've stayed out longer as I was having fun in my tight jeans and thigh boots. No matter, I'll have plenty more opportunities in the weeks to come.

  7. Back by popular demand----THE SUNDAY DOUBLEHEADER!!

    Jaunt #136, 12/4/2011:

In the morning, I headed off to the supermarket for my weekly grocery run, garbed in my brown faux leather jacket over a brown mockneck, the Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans in black, the Payless "Kylie wedge pumps and a short strap handbag. It was around quarter past seven a.m. when I arrived at the market, not much in the way of a crowd because of the early hour, so I hopped out and headed in the store. As often the case when I do a jaunt in the market, I made a note to take my time while shopping, and what few people that were in the store paid me no attention whatsoever, I guess that the Kylie shoes, whisper quiet on the floor had something to do with the lack of attention I got, and just like the first time I wore these wedges, it was great fun to have them on my feet. After some twenty-five minutes, I was out the door, back in my car and headed back to the house, pretty as you please.

    Next up, the afternoon jaunt!

  8. Jeff, you nailed it! I just recently spent a day out-and-about in high heels, and there were virtually little or no reactions. And the reactions I received were totally positive. When you get so used to wearing high heels in public, even you yourself sometimes don't even realize you're wearing high heels. Confidence and expereince are definitely the keys!

Oh, yes! I feel the exact same way. Once I've been out and about for awhile, I tend to forget I'm wearing heels as my comfort level is high and I focus more on where I am and what I'm doing instead of what I'm wearing.

When it comes to that all important confidence, it can come slowly or envelop you all at once, nevertheless, you have to embrace that confidence and nurture it so you can feel better about all your future outings, thus gaining experience.

  9. FreshinHeels & Shafted: Thanks plenty for the kind words! Much appreciated! roniheels: Well, I'm very honored to be looked upon as an inspiration to others here like yourself. I simply do the best I can to present a stylish and tasteful image for my little adventures, and if I can give you ideas for your own expeditions, then I'm glad to know I'm doing things right. Heel-Lover: As someone who regularly ventures out in skirts and heels, I was surprised to read that you haven't the courage to wear thigh high boots. To be honest, in the beginning, I was skittish and nervous about wearing them too, but, I just went out and did it, and found it to be great fun. I'm sure you will too!

  10. Well, I went out for breakfast at McDonald's this morning. I strode up to the counter in my skinny jeans and Restricted Barberella boots. While I was in line to place an order I got a few chuckles from a bunch of guys wearing clothing of some home improvement business.

I took it in stride and just chose to ignore them. If they found me amusing, I am only too happy to have entertained them. I'll never blame anyone for getting a good chuckle out of the way I dress. It kind of goes with the territory.

I couldn't agree more. If one can't handle that particular territory, then going out in public in heels is most definitely a non-starter. To anyone unaccustomed with being out in public, the important thing is to not let the occasional chuckle, giggle or laugh get to you when out and about, heck, if you choose, you can look at those people as being beneath you for not understanding or appreciating the unique way you choose to dress.

  11. Jaunt #135, 12/2/2011:

With a day off from work and the weather sunny though chilly, I headed out on a jaunt, and because it was chilly, I decided it was thigh boot time! So I headed out in my black leather jacket over a black turtleneck, my a.n.a. jeans tucked into the Pleaser "Legend 8868" thigh high boots and my faux croc print handbag which I haven't used in a while. What I also haven't done in awhile was head west, so I went out into Springfield, my first stop was to my bank to use the ATM (thus avoiding those annoying fees), I had to stand in line behind two other people for a good five minutes while someone stood behind me, but no one said anything, no bid deal. Stop number two was to Pizza Hut for lunch, and lunch there is always a good deal. There was only a couple of people in the store, so there was no one to stare at me like the last time I had been there, but as I enjoyed my lunch, a family of five, featuring three young kids came in, but they paid no attention to me either.

After lunch, I headed further down the road to Best Buy to see what was new, it was about quarter after twelve when I entered the store, pretty as you please and there was a decent crowd, not huge because it was midday, but hardly empty. I simply went about my business of gazing at all the gadgets and gizmos while a shopper here and there glanced at me, but no one said a thing during the entire thirty minutes I had been in the store, can't say I was disappointed or anything like that, though I do wish I had gotten a compliment, which I often got when I wore my thigh boots. From there, I headed east and went downtown as I wanted to be seen and gauge the opinions of people around me in a more crowded environment, I parked near Rittenhouse Square and casually walked little over a block to the Barnes & Noble across from the park, I made a note to put some sway in my hips as I walked, something that's a natural consequence that comes from wearing four inch heels, I got a couple of turned heads, but that was it.

In the store, I spent a good twenty minutes there, I did get into a conversation with a lady about the B & N nook e-reader which she seemed interested in, I told her that I had one and that it was easy to use, easy to read and easy to upload e-books, she took it all in with considerable interest, but paid no attention to my footwear. My final stop of the day was to my local comic book shop to snatch up the newest offerings, as usual, the staff paid no attention to what I wore as we discussed last night's powerfully putrid Eagles loss to Seattle before heading home. It was another good outing that I enjoyed, I felt perfectly at ease in my tight jeans and thigh boots along with the comfortable heft of the handbag on my shoulder, it all felt very natural to me, and that made it fun!

  12. Hi folks,

I would agree with the sentiments re bags. I wear skirts almost all the time I wear heels and I have been carrying a handbag (different styles) for 2-3 years. They are so practical and I carry the handbag whenever I wear heels now, even with jeans/ shorts. You can accessorize with a handbag and heels, and it adds another dimension to an outfit.

The only things I would say re carrying a bag are:

1.get a light lining so you can find stuff

2.look for internal pockets/ shape etc (which is why I prefer short strapped hand-bags)

    Have fun

    Cheers

    Heel-Lover

Bravo to you, my friend! I look at you as an advocate of men carrying handbags, you carry the torch very well for us, bringing to the fore the practicality, functionality, and the fun that comes from using a purse. Like you, I wouldn't be caught dead on a jaunt without a handbag these days, and I enjoy that immensely.

  13. To add my two cents worth (adjusted for inflation), it's important to act calm, cool and collected, as if wearing high heels is no big deal. That way you don't attract any undue attention than you would by acting shy, nervous or furtive, giving people cause to wonder just what you're up to. And yes, by all means, act and look confident as if you own the world, radiate a sense of boldness in your demeanor. Something to take into consideration, and I've said this numerous times before is that ninety-nine percent of the people you encounter while out and about in heels are too wrapped up in their own lives and affairs to worry about or care about a guy strutting about in women's shoes. And at this time of year with everyone rushing about shopping for Christmas gifts, chances are you'll be even more ignored. Be sure to dress tastefully and appropriately for your surroundings and you should do well.

  14. Very nice shoes indeed ! They are comfortable and quiet isnt-it ?

Glad to see you are now a wedge heel addict !

I agree they will look good with a skirt but temperature is getting quite cold.

What about wearing a nice pair of wedge heel tall boots with your skirt ?

(Please do not look at my lastest purchase here)

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a wedge heel addict, but I'm coming around to understanding their unique appeal! As for the weather, I was fortunate in that temps reached into the mid 60's today which made wearing a skirt with the new shoes a breeze. I did see the boots and they are sharp! I wear those in a New York minute if they came in my size!
