  1. Ii am able to wear only my left shoe. They are arranged on shelves and the right shois are two to a box in a corner. Each pair of shoes has a number on the bottom of the sole near where it meets the heel. These numbers are also on the shoe boxes. Now and then one of my staff or friend needs shoes for a special occassion but does not want to buy them for one night, so I loan them out. With all of my shoes except for 3 or 4 pairs, the rightshoe has never been worn so I caution them to wear the pair in advance to sort of break in the right shoe.

  2. I love slings for the way it shows more of my foot, like a trade-off with toes being closed. And, at times it feels like I am about to wallk out of it but the strap finally tightens and it stays on. Wallking out of it may or may not be an issue, but I have one leg and use crutches most of the time so there is some risk involved which gives a feeling of accomplishment. Several times at home and at work I have worn a sling with the heel strap not in place to see if I might walk out of it but it remained on and the slapping sound turned heads. As far back as I can remember, I have had the habit of dangling a shoe off of my toes and fortunately, I still am able to do so with great pleasure.

  3. Anybody here wear a heel while you were on crutches? When I had a full leg cast it was easier in a heel as the added height kept my cast clear of the floor. And now still on crutches, I still wear a heel every day to work.

  4. As I recall in the book, she and her parents lived in Chicago and were going to a family reunion in Racine where her mother's family lived. At the time, her mother was pregnant with Racine and athey could not decide on a name. Her dad noticed a sing, "Welcome to Racine" and suggested that the baby, if a girl be named Racine.

  5. Just before I lost my leg, a friend gave me "Racine on One Good Leg" about a highschool senioir with a crippled leg. She had a passion for heels and the book tells about her romance and life on crutches ad in a heel. She takes us wlong as she and her date go shoe shopping and other events like their prom which she attends on her crutches and a stiletto sandal on her good foot. The last time I l ooked it could be accessed on Barnes & Noble web sight just type the title in the search box

  6. How many of you women are ok going out in public on a date with a man in heels?

( in moderator mode) good question,

    girls only to reply please.

I think that I would be ok with it, especially since I am able to wear only one shoe, he can make up for my missing shoe. This rationale is probably silly, but I am sure that some nice people here would agree.
  7. I have not posted in a long time. I am a recent leg amputee that loves to wear a HH. I have found the height of the heel has very little effect on my ability to crutch and I do get a lot of attention from the opposite sex. Am I the only amputee here.

I wore a 4" heel when my leg was in a very long cast and I did very well after two weeks on crutches. After losing my leg I have continued to enjoy a heel of four to five inches all day at work and often into the evening with crutches.
  8. With my right leg in a very long leg cast, I became very good on my cruthches and it was like they were a part of me. While looking through a closet, a pair of mules with four-inch stiletto heels and a small vamp that allowed all of my toes to be seen caught my eye. I debated for several minutes, then agreed to an unresistable urge to wear one on my good left foot. In the mule I stood with crutches in place and looked down at my feet. The toes in the mule complimented my casted toes and the opposite was also true. I took a few steps in the mule and on crutches knowing that this is frowned by the medical community. I can't begin to describe the thrill from wearing a heel on crutches, and the trhill deepened knowing that I was pushing the envelope of safety. I still use crutches and wear only one shoe and each morning I dress for work and slip into a heel the thrill returns.

  9. Maybe. I lost a leg a little while back and use crutches about 90% of the time. I have continued my love of heels and wear a 4" stiletto, and sometimes 5". I have given many presentations to prospective and current clients in a stiletto and on crutches and from the look on some of their faces feel that I have at least an edge over the competition.

  10. We were on a girls night out and stopped at an intimate aperal store. I was wearing a pump with a four-inch stiletto heel. One girl held up a platform sandal and dared me to try it with my crutches. The clerk got it on for me; it looked like a 3" platform and about 7 - 8" heel. I lengthened my crutches as far as they would go and got up in the sandal which showed all of my toes. Two careful steps and I acclimated to the platform and took a walking tour of the store, then about 5 more laps. Having mastered that, I am going to look as some pumps that are chic now, with a one inch or so platform and peep toes.

  11. At first I thought that they were silly, but the more I see of them, I am curious about them and might give one a try. I am able to wear only one shoe and use crutches, which is holding me back. I will appreciate any advice from those who have worn them. E
