  1. Good to hear from you asdf174 - FYI I've recently posted some pics of me wearing my platform spikes under the topic 'My Latest Pictures' in the 'For Everybody' forum. Please let me know what you think. Also good to hear from you w_6_i_s_h - we 'plat' fans have got to stick together! SP

  2. Chris, Thanks for the welcome and your comments. It's interesting what you say about the 'chunkiness' of platform heels higher than 6" - I'd never thought of them in that way as, for me at least, the long slender heel offsets the bold shape of the platform. Actually, on this basis, I'm looking for designs of 8.5" platforms with thinner heels than the two pairs of this height I already own - typically, the higher the platform, the chunkier the heel tends to be, and it's not proving easy to find what I'm after! As ever though, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and it's great to hear from another enthusiast. SP

  4. When I'm going out in my heels in public I drive my car whilst wearing 7.5" platform heels. It took me quite a while to get used to clutch and throttle control whilst wearing these shoes, but I practiced on a deserted country road until I felt comfortable (and safe!). The technique I discovered involves getting your feet in the right position in the footwell so that you can pivot on the end of the spike heels to 'rotate' your feet onto and off the pedals. I really enjoy the challenge and the feeling of driving in my platforms! SexyPlatforms.

  5. Hi Zaphod, I'm inspired by your username to appropriate the wisdom of the late great Douglas Adams: I feel that the answer to life the universe and everything is indeed 42 - a size 42 pair of platform heels (coincidentally my European size) or 42 pairs of heels! 'Vive le difference' I say! I respect the heel preferences of others and, as always, am keen to learn from others. I look forward to hearing more details of a heel meet and to championing the cause of the spike-heeled platform sandal. Sexyplatforms.

  6. When I put on my first pair of 6" platforms I felt unstable at first but soon managed to become adept at walking in them. However, even now, as an experienced platform-wearer, I note how they can easily lure you into a false sense of security! Their comfort can easily make you forget the perils of loose or uneven surfaces. I've had a few close calls through being too casual in this respect - though thankfully nothing as painful as Bubba136's experience. Personally, I think is takes bravery for men to wear any kind of high heels and face the challenge of social prejudice (and gravity!). Sexyplatforms.

  8. Dear all, What are your favourite scenes in films that feature high heels? Some of my faves include the following: The several scenes in David Lynch's film Lost Highway which feature the beautiful Patricia Arquette in superb platform heels: near the beginning she slinks down and back up the steps of a house wearing a lovely flowing black satin robe. Later (as another character in the film) she gets out of a cab wearing another pair of sexy heels and captures the rapt attention of her 'audience'. There are two memorable moments in the film Bad Boys: early on, Will Smith's character (Mike Lowry?) is distracted by a very pretty woman wearing platform spikes and again, later on in the film, in a scene at a night club he is seen to be mesmerised by a dancer who seductively twirls her lovely platform shod feet for him. I think the director must have shared my aesthetic sensibilities! Although the shoes aren't as perfectly tailored to my preferences as in the previous examples, the opening of The Mask is pretty remarkable too: Cameron Diaz makes a notable movie debut here, being introduced in a shot that shows her adjusting the alluring up-the-leg straps of her sandals whilst she's marvelled at by smitten onlookers. Please let me know which film/footage of high heel interest you find especially memorable. Sexyplatforms.

  9. Dear BobHH, Thanks for the welcome Shafted, and thanks to you BobHH for the interesting info. I have platforms made by some of the companies mentioned by BobHH (Ellie, Luscious and Pleaser) as well as shoes made and/or labelled by Maya shoes, Tony shoes, and Icon. Icon shoes and Doreenfashions are the only online suppliers I can find who offer 7.5" spike-heels with the 2.75" platform above a (UK) 9 (I'm a size 10). This style, with the classic wrap-around ankle strap and the single vamp, is my current favourite, so when I discovered them I bought pairs in Red, White and Black! Do you have any pictures of your Else Anita platform slides? I'd love to see them - they sound very desirable. Love, Sexyplatforms

  10. Dear All, Hello everyone! I've just recently discovered this excellent forum and very much look forward to taking part in it. I've provided a more detailed introduction of myself and my heel preferences in the 'For the Guys section' so, even though I should perhaps have done that here, I won't take up space by repeating what I've already posted. Anyway, I was hoping I could draw on the collective specialist knowledge of you heel connosieurs and ask if any of you know the definitive history of the spike-heeled 'American'-style platform sandal? This particular shoe (the one which has a one-piece moulded platform unit, that's oval at the front of the footbed and nearly square at its rear with a smooth tapered spike-heel - sometimes flat on the inside of the heel arch) is my greatest love and I'd like to know more about where the original design came from and how/when it became standardized across such a wide range of manufacturers and nations. I've been trying for a while to find out the answers to some of these questions but I've not been very successful. Can anyone out there help? Many thanks, Love, sexyplatforms

  11. Dear all, Firstly, as I'm new here, let me introduce myself. I'm a straight male, 32 years old, TV, and a devoted lover of spike-heeled platform sandals. It's so exciting to have discovered a forum like this! I really look forward to sharing my love (and experiences) of wearing spike-heeled platform sandals with you. My heel fetish is very selective and I get a great deal of pleasure and excitement by wearing the 6", 7" and 8" platform spikes in my collection as often and wherever possible! I've been wearing sexy spike heels for seven years now and my first pair were Black 6'" heels with 2" platforms and a wrap-around ankle strap which I bought from Wild Syde on an impulse. Since then I've remained fascinated by the curvaceous and erotic looks of the classic 'American' platform style and have become well and truly addicted! I've only recently started wearing my heels in semi-public places but I've found it so exciting that I want to do more. Watch this space! I'll include some pictures of me modelling my shoes in future posts but, until then, I look forward to hearing your views on platform stilettoes. Love, Sexyplatforms
