PetePete
Well, I managed to buy some shoes and boots yesterday from a specialist shop near Manchester, Eng - Alternative Footwear, rather than mail order. Still seems a bit surreal really. I just thought what then heck, do it. Obviously for the staff there, who were great by the way, see people like me most days and thought nothing of it. I was the only customer at the time, but actually I'd rather it had been busy. I think the most important thing I learnt was that it's only embarrassing if you look embarrassed. Otherwise, it's no problem. Might not seem much to some, but it was a significant step for me. I'm already planning a return visit
JNR
Did you try them on before you bought them?
PetePete
Did you try them on before you bought them? Sure did, but no one was around to see, apart from the staff.
fastfreddy2
During the January sales, I practically had my own staff at Fenwicks (Brent Cross.) One chap used to follow me around offering help. I never picked up a mans shoe BTW. I did try on womens shoes (once), and got offered the opportunity to try on a couple of pairs on another occasion by a young female assistant, but .... I prefer to walk about for a couple of minutes working out if the shoes have any vices my feet won't like. I enjoy taking them away, and trying them on at my leisure while at home. Taking them back can be a PITA, but it gives me the chance to have another browse around. Fortunately, B/C is only a 20 minute drive away, and has a good selection of shoe shops. roniheels
I have bought and tried on shoes at wal-mart, Payless, and Shoe Heaven. I get some looks, but mostly I'm ignored. The most fun place to try them on is at an exotic boutique. Usually there are other guys in there trying on and buying high heels. The one's I buy there, I always wear out of the store. I always try to get the guys to talk about the high heels they are trying on. Some will visit with me. Others just get a little flustered. Have fun on your future shopping. derf
I wore a pair of ballet boots out of a lingerie store after my purchase. While in the store wearing them I thought the ladies were going to try to rape me. They were coming on to me big time. The couple of men in the store didn't say anything except one man who said that's impressive.
