rubberheel Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I live in a European country with a very limited selection of stilettos (or high heeled shoes in general), so I am tempted to buy online. Could you perhaps suggest some good online shops? What are your experiences with online shopping for heels? What about sizes - isn't that a problem? I'll be grateful for any input!
rubberheel Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 Is this a no - no question, or is it just very stupid?
rubberheel Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 Perhaps the moderator could move this thread to the Forum for Everybody?
Adeana Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 You can go with some off-the-wall online shops or you can go with some big ones like Fredrick's. I have got lucky and got a few pair off Ebay before, but you got to watch the feedback and never know how 'used'....used is! Have to watch the size conversion too Does anyone ever Email anymore? Send me one! I like to chat!
rubberheel Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 Thanks for the suggestions! I've just ordered a pair from Silhouette. I hope it all works out - that they arrive safe and sound, and that they FIT.
BlondeBimbo Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi, Happy they fit you! What's the quality and service like? they have a great selection - and they appear to describe each shoe correctly - I have had places in the past describe a heel as having a 5 1/2" heel - and it's just over 4" - was the heel etc on your shoe as described? BB
Rob Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 What's the quality and service like? We have brought from Fredericks. Over all I felt their customer service was good, despite some problems: Delivery (to the UK) was slow. When I contacted them after the standard deli every time had expired, they said that if they didn't come in the next two weeks, they would give a full refund - but the shoes then arrived. However the wrong shoes arrived (also in the wrong size) although the box was marked with the details of the correct shoe. When I contacted them about this they said to just keep the incorrect shoes, and gave us a full refund - plus a credit of the additional customs/duty that we had to pay the carrier when they arrived. You can't complain about that. So we ordered another pair, which took a similar time to come, which this time were correct. The shoes weren't the best quality, but were only $20, and were a better quality than you would expect for that price. They were advertised as being a five inch heel, but measured nearer five an a half inches (in around a US size 9).
polkadot Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Almost all ready-made Internet high heel shoe shops believe that one shoe width fits all: http://www.bananashoes.com/ http://www.leatherworks.org.uk/ http://www.pierresilber.com/ http://www.sky-scrapers.com/ Archenemys make high heel shoes in two widths only: medium and wide. There is no explanation how wide these shoes are and their customer service is bad. http://www.archenemys.com/Service/Stilettos.htm http://www.shoesusa.com/ make up to 5.5 inch (medium heel height) shoes in three widths, but the choice of styles is limited - they sell mostly sandals. http://www.zappos.com/ sell up to 4 inches high heel shoes (low heel height). Their low heel shoes are available in one width only: medium. ____________________________________________________ "6 Inch Heels Forever" makes custom high heel shoes and they seem to have more experience than the competition. I have not bought shoes from them, but I suggest that you try them first. http://www.orientvisual.com/6inchforever/ If you have money to burn, try Grisha's Custom Shoes: http://www.customshoes.net/
rubberheel Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 Thanks for all responses and suggestions! My boots from Silhouette arrived yesterday. The quality was fine, so was the service and the shipping was fast. They were a little higher than I'd expected. It said 11 cm on their site, but that must have been measured in the middle of the heel, because they are a little more than 12 cm in the back. Maybe it also has to do with the size... Well, great they are!
viviansboots Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I love buying boots and heels from Ebay. There are so many there and the prices are great. Many of the boots I bought are around $5 - $50.
