Kinky Boots Film

Whilst Trawling for stories about the Kinky Boot film I came across a story on BBC Leicester about another UK firm that makes Kinky Boots - Leicester based Hayway.

The story also covers a radio report of a male reporter who tries on some of the boots (look for the Realplay link that says Philip at Hayway) and a small photo gallery which is a bit dissapointing as the boots are not as prominant as they could have been.

Enjoy!

I remember that scene in Revolutions, best part of the movie. I'll have to try and borrow the DVD from someone and watch it again. Kinky Boots should definately be a good watch. Interesting that they made it at a real factory in Northampton. Also interesting that they've changed the focus of the story to making high heels for drag queens, keeping the mention of fetish out of it.

i think it is great that this movie may "mainstream" our love of heels - and best of all because of the power of cinema it will hopefully result in a surge in women buying high heels - brilliant!!!!! ;):D:lol:

Anyone in the UK see the Premier to Kinky Boots on ITV2 this evening 8.00PM. Very interesting behind the scenes footage. Also Celebrities were invited to design their own boots which were modelled at a fashion show to auction for charity. Like to see what the boots looked like and what they went for.

Just found this article:

Celebrities have designed their own version of kinky boots to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS foundation.

Sophie Anderton modelled a pair of thigh high red and black boots designed by Jaquetta Wheeler to promote the auction.

The auction will be held at the premiere of new movie Kinky Boots in London this week.

Fashion designer Sadie Frost, Cher and supermodel Elle Mc Pherson are among the stars who have designed their own creations.

Other celebrities who have taken part include Sting and wife Trudi Styler, Jemima Khan, celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli and veteran actress Joan Collins.

The collection has been handmade by a bespoke shoemaker and will be on display in the windows of Selfridges Oxford Street in London from October 6th- October 20th.

Might be of interest to any heel meets in london during those dates.

Some of the boots are up for sale on Ebay UK!!!

I thought most of them were horrible, The only one I would be interested in were the ones by Claudia Schiffer

Agreed and the Joan Collins ones - not keen on platforms.

I'm not a platform fan either. I'm more into pumps and boots, but not some of the wild ones that I have seen lately. Cheers--- Dawn HH

I just thought I would provide some feedback, having seen the film. Overall the review by from thezreview.co.uk was quite accurate, there are some funny bits – if you have seen the adverts – you have pretty much seen them. The acting is generally good - Chiwetel Ejiofor is very good, but the plot is a bit obvious, and to be honest rather boring. (I went to check my email & what was new on this site at one point during the film!):lol: I too saw the original documentary – following the events at the time, this story has a very tentative link to that true® report. For anyone grasping at seeing “Drag-queens” on TV (no pun intended!) it has it moments, but really that is mainly during the musical numbers. So far as high heel stuff goes, again it is just there if you are grasping to see it. Had I paid to see it at the cinema I would have been really disappointed! – As it was it was worth the download and writing to DVD time, “Eye Candy” at most. I think they could have improved it soooo.. much if they would have kept the “Kinky” side – there is nothing kinky about the boots in the film – a better title would be “Boots for Drag-Queens”. :D Perhaps I had hoped for too much, but they played it a bit too safe and “traditional - view”, all the way through the film is the premise that in London one may find TVs etc. – but in Northampton – it’s cloth caps, ferrets, and they have never heard of transvestites! – Pity because Northampton has quite vibrant TV/BDSM/Swinging scenes. If they would have taken the title of the film to heart and included a bit of “Kink” it could have opened out the story-line and provided much more humour, and shock whilst remaining PG rated – after all even films like Mr & Mrs Smith had more kink! :D I think the rating of 2/5 is a fair reflection, that’s about my rating (although my partner rated it at 2 ½ - 3 out of 5 – there again he has no taste – after all he goes out with me …oops! ;) ). ATTENTION: ATTENTION: The US release date has been set for Kinky Boots. It will be a limited release on April 14, 2006. This means that mainstream theatres probably won't be running it. You will need to check the movie schedules of the independant/foreign films venues in your area. Call and ask if they are going to get it, as this may influence them into adding it to their schedules.

Just read this post! Sorry. ;)

We went to see it as I said. We both thought it was an enjoyable film, not the best film the world and not brilliant - a certainly predictable, but entertaining couple of hours. Chiwetel Ejiofor as said above was very good - I was convinced he really was a TV.

The film would've been better if we actually saw every day guys (ie. freestylers) wearing the boots. The film definitely hit the nail on the head with the market for traditionally female footwear for men and with one particular scene I saw (I'm not going to say what and where as I don't want to spoil it) made me smile and re-inforced my belief that men can wear high heels/"female" shoes and not be "weird".

I don't want to say much more as I don't want to spoil it for you people in the US.

It gets a 3.5 out of 5 from me.

That really was a set of ugly boots to me. None of them appealed to my boot senses and I wouldn't have bid on them even if I had a chance. Too wild for my tastes. Thanks Heel-D for reviewing the film for us all without dropping too much information. Cheers--- Dawn HH
