raccoon Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 This may seem like a silly question, but I'll ask it anyhow. In a shoe store in Amsterdam, I had an argument with another customer on what UK size mark 7- (seven dash) means. He claimed it is 7½ but I don't believe that. 7 makes more sense to me. Who is right? Will someone elaborate please?
chris100575 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I can't speak for the Netherlands, but in the UK a size seven and a half is marked "7 1/2". If I ever saw "7-" I'd assume that it was a seven. Most stores don't seem to stock half sizes anyway, which is a pity as I'm a seven and a half! Chris
Firefox Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I'm a 7 1/2 too. I've never seen 7- before. I would assume it's a 7, but really it doesn't matter. Try it on and if the shoe fits, wear it , as they say!
raccoon Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Thanks for the replies. I haven't seen any footwear with UK size marks in that store or any shop in the Netherlands. This guy wore a pair, they were his own. Anyway, it's his size. Maybe it's mine too, or I'm an 8 or an 8½. I agree trying on is always decisive.
