Whilst looking nto the possibility of making my own heels and following HH&C fan's awesome thread I found myself looking at shoe making courses. There are a few that I've found like I CAN make shoes but I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience of them here in the UK? And can anyone recommend a good one? The more I think about it the more I want to do it and whilst trial and error is a good way to learn it is also the long way. Also, you can't beat someone with loads of experience sharing some of it with you.

Well, I guess the link above was not very helpful if you don't have much money and time to spend. But there are other possibilities you maybe can take on a few days of vacation. I have to say that I have no experience with these courses so recommendation is impossible for me. But since you are located in London some should be reachable for you. http://shoes.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=shoes&cdn=style&tm=101&f=00&su=p284.13.342.ip_p504.6.342.ip_&tt=2&bt=5&bts=5&zu=http%3A//www.prescottandmackay.co.uk/ http://icanmakeshoes.com/ http://www.paulthomasshoes.com/content/handmade01.htm and also sometimes in Budapest: http://www.shoemakingcourse.com/ videos here:

I hope this will have been helpful for you.

The first clip uses a slightly different method than the one I'd use but it's basically the same. They have missed out the step that transfers the masking tape "forme" into a paper pattern.
