Van
I read recently a very serious article about some ethnic group/tribe in the South Pacific (Polynesians) who have 5 genders in their society. 1. Priests / Chamans are considered as both male and female. They make up gender 1 (I forgot the name in polynesian) 2. Men behaving like men = gender male 3 Women behaving like women = gender female. 4. people with male sexual attributes but who live in a female fashion 5. people with female attributes but living in a manly fashion. These last two we'd probably call TG but for these Islanders they make up two different genders altogether. The traditionnal Malay / Polynesians culture seems pretty easy-going about gender identity, much more than in our Western culture. "Ladyboys" live openly in many south-Pacific islands, they even play an active part in traditional social life. They are also accepted among certain tribes (of Malay origin) in Madagascar, although the tradition was frowned upon by the missionnaries and is less tolerated in modern Madagascar. Katoeys are traditionnally well accepted in Thailand etc. Anyhow, what gender am I ? It depends how I feel. I can't change my sex because it is biological, written in my chromosomes - even if I should get SRS, I will always remain biologically male - but I can change gender as often as I feel like. And I can wear heels as a guy, as a girl and as everything in-between. Life never gets boring. Vanessa.

verngentleheels
Gender is irrelevent. You may associate one way or the other, but you are what you are. I am male, I love to wear high heels - this neither increases nor decreases my gender. End of story.
