High Surprise Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I have just spent the most rediculous amount of money on some new shoes boys and girls. They are 5 inchers but so unusual. The heel (although not as thin as I normally like) comprises of a zip - anyone seen anything like this before. They are a little uncomfortable to wear but so different. I have loaded some pics onto the hhplace server. I hope this link works? Try: http://65.160.96.70/hhplace/images/1053098245.jpg This picture just shows you the zipper. http://65.160.96.70/hhplace/images/1053098937.jpg New shoe from above http://65.160.96.70/hhplace/images/1053098971.jpg New shoe side shot http://65.160.96.70/hhplace/images/1053099012.jpg New shoe inside label The shoes cost me £400 (UK pounds) which is a lot!!! But I love them. Any comments? Anyone even heard of the make (ALAIA)??? The quality and leather are just superb.
Bubba136 Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I've seen that same style before. Can't remember where, though. In any event, 400 BP a lot of money for a man to pay for a pair of women's shoes for himself. I hope you get many happy days wearing them around Sweden. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
jim Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Never heard of that brand name before HS,but then there are so many. Even with the somewhat grainy pic the quality of the leather is evident.A very slick style with the zip making quite a statement. That is a very nice shoe....I'm sure you'll enjoy them. jim
Yamyam Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Those are nice. I'm not sure I have £400 to spend on shoes, but those seem worth it to me. Happy heeling in them! Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
High Surprise Posted June 19, 2003 Author Posted June 19, 2003 Thank you for all your positive comments boys and girls. I wore those shoes tonight and had 2 people stop me and ask me where I got them from. :-) - That makes it so worth it doesn't it? I bought them in Joseph in London. They are so uncomfortable though. Anyway... they look good so I am happy (wish the heel was slightly thinner).
Yamyam Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Well, sometimes we have to suffer for our fashion sense, eh? Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
Julietta Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Those shoes are beautiful although I could buy quite a few pairs for that money Let calm be widespread May the sea glisten like greenstone And the shimmer of summer Dance across your pathway "Communication is a two way thing"
High Surprise Posted June 19, 2003 Author Posted June 19, 2003 Well, sometimes we have to suffer for our fashion sense, eh? I guess you're right Yamyam - Having said that, I have woken up this morning with blisters all over my feet. This means it is going to be painful to wear my heels today :-( What to do? Back to my good old packet of Band Aids!
Yamyam Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Had me worried for a minute there. Actually, I saw some shoes in TK Maxx actually branded "We must suffer for beauty" or something like that. They were too tight Obsessed is such a strong word. I prefer to think of myself as "differently enthusiastic"
High Surprise Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 I like that Yamyam. I write this as I ache (yet again!) Wearing the most stupid shoes I own (very thin inner sole and HIGH HIGH arches!! Ouch!

Nice to know that I'm not the only 'differently enthusiastic' member of the forum I've been there too, and it's only tiredness stopping me from squeezing into my ultra heels for the evening!
