I’ll be in LV next week for work. Hope to get in a bit of elevated time.  Where is a good place to wear heels in LV?

Any of the casinos are good choices. All are carpeted so you don't risk slipping on tile, and everyone's busy losing money so no one's paying attention to what you're wearing. I also like to go on Fremont St. and out on the strip, particularly around Plant Hollywood, Bellagio, etc. Again, everyone is busy gawking at the sights. Welcome to Vegas, enjoy!

  2. Happy new year to everyone! I rarely post here, but I just had to share this great story. I live in Las Vegas, and if you've ever been here you know it's a great place to wear heels out and about without drawing unwanted attention. At least in the tourist areas it is; that's where l go out in my stilettos and higher chunky heels, anyway. So on to the story: I was doing some Christmas shopping in Walmart one evening and stepped out of the main aisle to check my list. It must have been his height that caught my eye, because a few racks over was a tall, thin guy and a woman going thru the clothes. He was really tall, and as he rounded the rack I could see why: 4 inch black suede stiletto lace up ankle boots! He and his friend chatted and shopped thru the racks and then moved on down the aisle, his heels clicking away. I am not alone, I said to myself (although I was wearing flat riding boots at the time, not heels).

Then the very next day as I was leaving the grocery store a gentleman wearing sparkly wedge flip flops passed me in the doorway.

Been here 5 years and have never seen any guys in heels, then 2 within 24 hours. So cool.

  3. I got a great pair of all leather Franco Sarto Tess knee high boots at Nordstrom Rack in size 13 last fall for less than $80. I regularly check the Rack stores when I'm in a city that has them, and they do have quite a selection up to size 13.

  4. Mike, the TSA at CMH should be getting used to seeing guys in heels. I travel weekly for work and that's my home airport. I regularly go thru in some sort of heels, although not stilleto heeled boots! I tend toward the current trend of riding boots or heeled western style boots. And I make the trip to Vegas regularly. I was out there the week before and after the AVNs; had hoped to be there that week but got pushed back. I agree that Vegas is a great place to go heeling. So much activity, such an international crowd, that walking around in heels is one of the least attention-getting things for a guy to do. Maybe I'll see you around the Southwest gates some day!

  5. Thanks for the input, 4608. Well, I couldn't pass up the deal - Franco Sarto "Tess" boots (http://pinterest.com/pin/152066924889161773/) in dark brown leather for under $70. So I went back to Nordstrom Rack and tried them on again; the size 13 fit great in the foot and everywhere else except for the tight upper calf. I put both boots on and walked around the shoe area for a few minutes, and in that time the tightness at the very top seemed to work itself out a little bit. Sold! I plan to wear them inside on the carpet for some break-in, and if the shaft does relax a bit and adjust to my calf it's all good and I add them to my outside heeling wardrobe. If not I have 30 days to return them and I'm sure my job will have me back in Vegas within that time.

  6. I just discovered Nordstrom Rack in Las Vegas. What a gold mine!! Not only huge markdowns on end of season boots and shoes, but a good selection in sizes up to 13. I found several pairs of leather Franco Sarto and other brand knee-high boots, both low heel riding style and some with mid-high block heels, but on all of them the top 4 inches of the shafts are too tight to zip up over my man-calves. I was surprised to find that none of these have elastic gores, which I thought was nearly standard on tall boots. I can force the zippers up fully, but they are very tight.

So my question to the esteemed members here is twofold: first, do you think I can expect the leather of the upper shaft to stretch out any, if I force the zippers up and wear them for a while? In the alternative, has anyone ever taken boots to a cobbler and had them install an elastic gore?

I really hate to pass up these deals, as these are $200+ real leather boots for less than half price, and in my size on top of that.

  7. For Korbach, they are great boots. Due to an online ordering problem I ended up with two pairs of these exact same boots. I have the duplicate pair on EBay US right now, seller name ohbucks! if you or anyone is interested. With their block heel and rugged looks these would be ideal for any members seeking a good public heeling starter pair.

  8. I just got a great pair of everyday boots from JC Penney. Worthington brand, the style name is Charlie. Sort of a western style boot, with 3.5" heels and nice tall shafts. Got a great deal on Black Friday, just $25! They are pretty comfortable, and look great under or over jeans. I'm working on breaking them in - took them for a stroll around a nearby town center mall for an hour or so this evening.

  9. I remember trying on my mom's gogo-style boots when I was about 8 years old, so that would have been around 1970. These were white patent, pull-up style boots with heels of about 2" or so. I must have done it on quite a few occasions because I can recall my mom telling me to quit wearing them because I might "break them down". I guess that's because I was heavier than she was.

  10. I told my wife about this site when the whole issue of my heel interest came to a boil a couple of years ago, but she wasn't interested in participating or even visiting. I found the whole blow-up a bit odd, since for a number of years I'd bought or suggested heels for her. And that I'd bought and worn around the house, in front of her and with her approval, some nice stiletto pumps. But when she happened upon another pair it somehow became a big issue. I encouraged her to visit the site and take in all the great information and advice as we worked thru what had suddenly become a "problem" but she wasn't interested. I still haven't figured out what changed to cause it to go from fun or interesting to being a problem. Go figure.

  11. I picked up a pair of Carrini boots at Burlington a few weeks ago. I can't seem to find a web picture of them, so I'll do my best to describe them. They are low heel, sort of a biker style with a strap around the ankle decorated with studs. Rugged soles, and they are designed to be over the knee on a woman; they come to just on the knee for me. They have a half-zipper at the ankle. I know they aren't high heels by definition, but they are so stylish this season, not to mention practical in the cold weather. Keeping my legs warm - I can see why the ladies like boots! I've been wearing them in my travels, even thru airport security where I have to take them off and run them thru the scanner. No worries there, although I've taken some care while redressing to pull them up to my knees under my trousers in a not so obvious way.

  12. Voted Maybe. I'm in Vegas right now in fact, on business which brings me here often. If I can match work and the Meet I'll be there. If I may, a good resouce for Vegas info is www.cheapovegas.com. Funny yet insightful visitor information.

One thing I've found in my frequent visits to Vegas is the casino hotels do not offer many of the usual perks like in-room coffee, free internet, free exercise facilities, complimentary breakfast, etc. They want you down in the casino spending your money. Read the details carefully. Personally, I prefer the Trump, PH Towers, and MGM Signature because they have those things included and/or have kitchens so I can make my own breakfast after a quick trip to the grocer.

Went out last night for a brief stroll in my Madden 4" heeled boots, down thru the PH Towers elevator lobby and out thru the parking deck onto Harmon Ave, then up the Strip back into the hotel. Didn't get a second look from anyone. I"d expect Fremont St. to be about the same.

Thanks for the effort in putting this together, iloveboots and whoever else is involved.

  13. I think you are all correct. In talking with my wife, who is skeptical, but supportive, the issue is that they are "women's" shoes. If they were on the shelf, or in the magazine as mens, she would be fine I am sure. It is silly ! at best

That's pretty much the same argument I got. Even though most of the heels I was wearing out in public were black boots with 2-3 inch block heels, because they were from the "womens" rack and were knee high we had an issue. Under slacks they were discreet unless someone looked close. Still, she can't get over it, passing judgement based upon the seller's gender assignment of them rather than how they looked.

  14. Yes, congrats on getting out heeling again; doing so in conservative UT certainly adds to the excitement. From recent personal experience I too have to strongly recommend you be upfront with your SO. The HIDING of a secret is almost always worse than the secret itself. Trust and all that, you know. Best wishes!

  15. Yes. Gas stations never turn out like you'd like when you're in heels...

What'd you wear for pants? If they're long enough, black, and at night (plus you walk real slow), you can usually get away with going in due to the pump not working...

Saying this, when I drive near a gas station, even at night, it's 50/50 at best I'll go in (as I never use a CC)...LOL

I think we've all had our occasions where we headed out in our heels for a 'routine' run only to have something intervene and tempt or force us out of our comfort zone. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's the unexpected that helps us push our personal boundries and lets us discover that much of our apprehension is unfounded. When confronted with such a situation, ask yourself, What's the worst that can happen if I go forward?

  16. It is all about confidence and taking that first leap. When you first start out, you are hyper-alert, nervous, and think everyone is looking at your feet. If anything, its your nervousness that might possibly attract attention. Take a deep breath, calm down, and like Magick says, act like you own the place. Of course, it helps if you can actually walk in heels rather than stumble about, so a little practice doesn't hurt!

  17. Johnie, Yeah, I hoped I might be able to participate in the Oct. get-together, thinking things were in a good place on the home-front regarding my heeling. Just up 71 - so close. Alas, the topic came up and went real sour really quickly. Reference, sadly, my post in 'For Sale'. But I participated vicariously thru the meet reports and photos. Kudos to you for getting that together. Maybe next time, if things mellow.
