  1. There's a lot of talk of "our cause" on this forum recently. I'm wondering how many of the guys out there see male heel wearing as a cause, to win the hearts and minds of society and particularly of opinion formers within the fashion world?

I disagree with this view, I wear heels for my own enjoyment and pleasure, knowing that it will never be a mainstream fashion for men in my lifetime and am sanguine about that. In fact if everyone wore heels where would the fun be in it?

I feel particularly strongly that I'm not responsible to other members of our cause to present myself in public in a way that will promote male heel wearing. The only responsibiltiy I feel is to myself to conduct myself in a way that will help to ensure my personal safety (I was once nearly beaten to a pulp by someone who supposed I was gay and objected to my wearing a pink shirt - many years before heel wearing entered my head), and safeguard the feelings of my partner, who's views are important to me. Hence I don't wear heels in Horsham town centre, where I might be seen by her friends.

I tried to add a poll, but my ancient computer crashed every time I tried to add options, so I can only hope to start some discussion around this topic.

I'm of two minds on this one. On the one hand, it's not really a serious issue - it's footwear. Compare to fighting serious illness or homelessness or ... well, you get the idea. On the other hand, wouldn't it be nice if there wasn't the stigma associated with our little harmless desire? So for that reason if someone wants to enlighten the unwashed, go for it. I don't think anything short of a lot! of guys doing it and a pile more women openly claiming they think it's great will make a difference. There is little to no discussion going on in the general population about this. As has been pointed out in another thread, even the manufacturers aren't interested.

I'll keep wearing though. I like it.

  2. There wasn't a price attached to them but given they are Dior I'd expect they'd need to be about 20% of the current price would be needed for most to even look at them. I'd certainly consider them for C$100-150.

  3. i've always thought of my high heels as works of art for the foot. i have always enjoyed the designs and the line work. i find them pleasing to the eye and never grow tired of looking a them. i've been wondering what a picture or series of pictures of them would look like on the wall in a gallery or home and would there be a market for such a thing. i can visualize photos up to 24x24 inches. so i'm fooling around with ideas and i have to admit the test shots are taken with a cheap digital camera, the foreground has those cheap rubber toys and the background would be cleaned up but the general idea is as follows:

(i have posted the picture in a large size so you can get some idea of where i would like to go with the idea)

other pics can be viewed at: http://photobucket.com/albums/y74/whsp1234/

i would love to hear any comments or suggestions.

I like this one the best. It looks like they are structural in some way. And the frogs are a nice touch :-)

Changing the background and cleaning the shoes so they are spotless (unless they are not intended to be) would help too. I wonder if painting a building on them (office tower?) would be interesting? I'm not sure how you'd do that without ruining them however.

  4. I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out. TEE! HEE!

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

That's the way it seems sometimes :-)

Actually, with the new rules this year things are a bit better. Of course the refs aren't very consistent but at least they're calling the hooking and tripping and other interference.

And Toronto usually has a very nice percentage of attractive women wearing nice heels. Much better than Ottawa (my, those are 2" heels?? How do you walk in them?). Being right downtown on a game night, and then at a higher end shopping mall must have been good for the scenery.

  5. Hmm, all I get is a blank white page.

I got more than that, but when I clicked on "Dior Homme" I got some Java crap that wanted to show me "Trunks", i.e. cases/bags/luggage. I never saw any heels. And their site sucks. Way too much crap getting in the way of seeing their stuff.

  6. heelsrus...

Who do you root for? My gf cringed when she bought the tickets since she is a Detroit fan. The Leafs were playing the Penguins - first visit of Sidney Crosby to the ACC. It was a good time.

The floors in the ACC were very slippery for the both of us, but we managed!

Well, my earlier memories are from the Toronto area (Milton) but have been in Ottawa for the past long while (20+ years). I prefer the Ottawa team as they don't have quite as many goons and I like to watch hockey, not boxing on skates. I'd be quite happy if Domi and Tucker got traded. Pat Quinn isn't a bad coach however - seems pretty good, if a little whiney on occasion. Though if Ottawa gets more hitters than skaters, I'll change to someone else.

I haven't seen the penguins play this season. I'm not sure I've seen Crosby play at all. Is he really all he's supposed to be or are the spin doctors working overtime?

I guess the ACC has smooth concrete floors like all the rest? They're slipperly in rubber soled boots if they're wet so you must have done well in real boots.

Another thought - Woodbridge might be a good place too. There's a colossal mall (called "the Colossus", IIRC) and there are several shoe stores as well as other places. Those malls are also known as "crapopolus" :-) Who would have thought of putting a mall like that with no overhead/wind/weather protection in Canada??!! Oh well, means you HAVE to wear boots :-)

Glad you two had a great time. What are you planning for her birthday??

  7. My gf bought me Toronto Maple Leaf tickets for Christmas/Anniversary

    She likes you, right? :D

Who were they playing? Was it a good game? Who's jersey were the refs wearing?

To the game, I wore my Frederick’s 4” stiletto boots (avatar).

Very cool! I know the arenas are usually quite busy, but wow. Nicely done!

On the Tuesday, before traveling back to Windsor, we decided to do some shopping at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. I wore my Frederick’s 4” micro-stiletto black pumps. My gf loves me in these shoes. She had on her Bandolino kitten heel pumps. She opts for a shorter heel sometimes because she is a couple inches taller than I am. Plus, she loves kissing me when I’m taller for a change…haha.[\quote]

Yorkdale really doesn't seem like the best place for shopping. I've been there a few times. The area doesn't seem very open-minded. Square One and other places in the west might have been more productive (and safer). But then that'll mean you need another trip! :-)

  8. My point is it's very dangerous attaching political labels on someone just because of their bahavior, or any label for that matter.

Very true. How 'bout calling her a busy-body and a prude? If it can't be seen does it really matter?

  9. We'll be going to our friends on Friday, this time I will wear my boots with her. As per my other thread, I've worn my boots with these friends several times now and they feel totally comfortable with my choice. I'm hoping that if she see's others accepting this that she will calm down and relax on the issue.

Would it help to run this by your friends to see if they can help? Let them know the situation, or parts of it, and ask that they behave in the same manner as the last few times?

It sounds like you've had a blast with these friends. That's very cool. They seem like very decent people.

    Good luck.

  10. The problem is is that the police will not involve themselves unless a crime is committed. i.e. criminal damage to the wheelclamp by someone using bolt-croppers. The police actually dislike clampers as much as anyone else but are powerless to act, particularly if you're clamped on private property (including council owned property).

The best solution is to live the car up onto a flat bed truck and make off with the vehicle clamp and all. You can then call the clampers and invite them to negotiate a fee for the return of their clamp (minus lock) and then get them to sign an affa davit (sp?) to absolve you of any further action in respect of criminal damage or theft.

This is perfectly legal as law states that anything placed upon or appended to a motor vehicle becomes the property of the registered owner of the vehicle. The criminal damage thing only comes about because once you remove the clamp from your vehicle, ownership reverts to the clamper, even if you bung it in your boot (trunk) and drive off.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but isn't clamping a LEGALLY parked vehicle a crime? A traffic crime, granted, but certainly worth causing them huge amounts of grief.

If you have proof and it's not too late...personally I'd go after them in the legal system and in the press. You could also go after them using the city - they have to have a license and if you lodge a formal complaint with the city they may not get the license next time 'round.

As for cutting the clamp off and it being a crime to take it - don't. Leave it on the street :-) If ownership reverts to them, then they can go pick it up :-) If challenged you can say that you thought it was some (obvious criminal types) that clamped your car illegally with the intention of coming back later to break into it and steal it. Since none of the legal clampers would do such a thing, it must have been an illegal act. And since the clamp wasn't yours, you wouldn't feel right in taking it. :-) Who could argue with that? Yeah, ok, any lawyer....

See about taking them to traffic court or small claims. That'll at least get your money back and their attention.

    Good luck.

  11. I know that it's probably not helpful, but did the auction specify that the item was collection only.

If not, then the seller is responsible for the shipping of the item.

Have you paid for it yet? If not then you can work it out between you not to complete the transactionand ebay won't charge either of you.

Yes, it is local pickup only. I knew this before bidding and had asked a friend if his contact could help out. I was told "sure". I bid and won and was then told that he couldn't. So it's not the sellers problem and he's been quite good about it. I paid him right away as I always do. At least he has the cash. Now it's my problem.

It's a good printer and worth the headache.

  12. But, for me, the mostly young people today are so driven by the fashion tendencies, TV, magazines, etc... no one wants to think, do what they want, make a difference... all over the world including Brazil. It's sad for me.

    You're so right on this....

I find it amuzing when these young kids into the rapper scene all dress exactly the same way. Baseball hat (usually on backwards or crooked), large jersey (usually basketball), pants that would fit someone about 50lbs heavier and a foot taller, underwear showing (now _that's_ attractive :D ), and running shoes. If they think they're being an individual by looking like everyone else, they should think again.

The same can be said for a number of other groups including the "business" set. Everyone dresses in a suit and tie 'cuz that's the uniform - even some women will wear a suit and tie. Some are smart enough to know it and play it to their advantage, most aren't.

  13. Usually only after the kiddies go to sleep. And then for only about 2 or 3 hours. Usually I wear the 5" heel (blockier heel) boots but sometimes the 3.5" heeled boots. Have only worn the 3.5" heels out once but plan on doing so again. The 3.5" heeled boots are so comfortable I almost forget I'm wearing them.

  14. or maybe she's one of those types who'll kick snow in her flip-flops. you have people that are truly faithful to them... don't know why, but hey!

I think that's probably an easy one: laziness. Can't be bothered to put their feet into anything they have to think about. Just easier to slide them on leave the house.

Oh well. The scary part is there is a market for Uggs and flip flops. I don't understand why but that's not the first thing nor the last thing I won't understand :-)

  15. I recently bought a printer from someone on eBay because I had an understanding from a friend that he knew someone that could pick it up. Well, it turns out that's not possible. So now I have a printer in Edmonton and no way to get it here. Ugh. Is there someone in that neck of the woods that could do me a huge! favour and transport the printer from its current location to a Mailboxes, etc. or FedEx or other shipping company (one that packs and ships)? The guy only allows pick-ups Tues and Thurs between something 10am and 3pm (I'll get the exact times and address). The printer is paid for and we can work out ahead of time where so I can pay for it (no out of pocket expenses). I'm also in Canada (Ottawa) so at least there isn't any duties or anything to worry about. Failing all that, can someone recommend a taxi company that could do it? Thanks for any help.

  16. Isn't the purpose of this forum to unite one another on a subject where we all share very similar (if not the same) views? Political and religious debates will drive a wedge between us.

They don't have to. They _can_ help us to understand where each other comes from and why they believe or act as they do. All it takes is an understanding that others may have a valid opinion (even without all the facts) and then be willing to discuss (not yell or call names or ... ). Sometimes there nothing that can be done or said to convince the other party of your point of view. Then you have to agree to disagree and call it a draw. But this can all be done civilly.

    My $0.02.

  17. There are exceptions to every rule but the exceptions don't necessarily invalidate the rule.

There's a really interesting book called "The Borderlands of Science" and in one chapter it explains what, on first glance, you see. Not all men are 100% men and not all women are 100% women. And before someone goes off half-cocked, think about it. How many men do you know that fit the description (socially, physically, etc.) of "A Real Man". Same applies for women. Most people are a mixture, some with more female traits, some with more male traits. And it's irregardless of gender. So, saying that there's one or two (or even 1000) women out there in the big bad world that like physics doesn't mean that ALL women like physics or are even good at it. Most women are not good at, or have an interest in, renovation work, for example. Most men are not good at, or have an interest in, interior decoration. Some do of course. You can't discount the majority because you can find a minority.

What Dr. Shoe wrote/quoted is consistent with my experience of men and women, and what I have read. I don't tend to read a lot about this stuff because quite frankly I don't care about it that much. But ask MEN about colours and then ask WOMEN about colours and I'm sure you'll see a big different in the description of those colours. Men know what Makita Blue is but women will call it.... what, turquoise?

And to keep it on topic :-) ... there are quite a few men that like high heels but the majority of men in the population don't wear them (yet!). The majority of women will/do wear high heels but some don't.

  18. My woman. Cindi, has begun to bug me about my boots. She thinks my boot styles are too much alike, all black and not much difference between them.

Her take on this is that my feet need some color. She wants me to buy some red stiletto heel boots. What do you think?

Personally I think it's a great idea. If she's making suggestions then you're in good shape, and she's probably right if all you have are black. :-)

I have some red boots that my wife makes a request I wear (once in a while anyway - and only after I suggest getting something). It's a nice change.

Take her with you and have her pick them out. Sure to be a winner.

  19. Yesterday I watched trinny & sussanna, (yes-sad person) do thier make-over show on two men. In the bit where they analize the subjects figure, in the all round mirror room, the one man had short legs to which they commented that a woman could wear high heels, but men can't do that.

So much for advisors. Even men not seeking female heels can get higher heeled mens shoes, including hidden hight, ie Elevator co.

Perhaps email them and let them know they were wrong? They might reconsider for later. Ok, maybe not, but letting them know gives them the chance.
