Welcome Bluesman. I like your username.
Now this sounds awesome.so one Christmas I unwrapped a gift from her containing a pair of black 5" pumps. This was back half a dozen years ago in our "party" days, and I can remember several times coming home from the bars at closing time, and ending up in my heels dancing in the living room with her to some old Aretha.
I don't mean to pry, but if she's cool enough to do something like this, why do you feel the need to ease her into the LEI's? She sounds like she's already on board.

The boots themselves are awesome, though the locks are a little scary. I always wondered what would a person do if one of those locks ever became stuck and they had to get the shoes off in a hurry. Welp... looks like you're answering the door in heels (with locks no less!) Now the mailman's gonna know what's been in those boxes he's been delivering every other week.

Excellent choices TXT! I have two pairs of the Tony Shoes 701's in white and black and absolutely love them.
-
Platforms are evil! They are cheating.
Hey now....
Besides, that depends! A 9" heel with only a 3" plat means a 6" rise.
-
I think they look great asdf. I agree that they'd be a little nicer if they were higher, but 5" is easy to street heel in. Have you taken them out for a spin?
-
Happy birthday TXT! Probably the only time I can use this smiley so... :bday: I suggest celebrating by treating yourself to a birthday gift of another pair of platforms!

The Europeans have us beat hands down in this area, kneehighs. It looks like a slightly larger than usual turnout for a UK heelmeet. Excellent pics gang. I particularly like the last one with the good Doctor in his metal spikes (nice choice Doc). But I am interested in the black mules in that picture. Who's are they and where can I get a pair?
-
Far too low of a heel for my tastes. But if you come across any like the ones in your avatar in a US size 11, do let me know.
-
To check reactions I wore these.
Nice!
Some of us more timid heel fanatics truy live vicariously through folks like you. Thanks for sharing.

Credence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' Out My Back Door

Rolling Stones - Down Home Girl
you're wearin' them citified high heels...
And one that I've always found to be a bit of an anthem to heels (though it's not specifically speaking about high heels) is Head over Heels by the Go Gos.
Head over heels
Where should I go?
Can't stop myself
Out of control
Sounds like me on one of my heel shopping excursions.

A half size smaller shoe would not allow her toes to ride over the end of the shoe sole, but would allow them to ride on top of the sole were they should be. The sole beyond the toes protects the toes from getting damaged when accidently stumbling or snaging a curb stone.
Good point. I'd certainly hate to see any of those goegeous toes hurt in any way.
But with that style of strap, I've noticed that even a smaller size usually winds up with your toes sticking out of the front after a little wear. The style of strap that holds your foot in better is the style that ShyGuy has in his avatar (I've heard it described as bow-tie shape). With a smaller size, sometimes the foot winds up sticking out the back when sitting, and the toes sticking out when walking.
PJ:
Since the breakup of the Soviet Union, I've met many women who've moved to the US. I'd say all of them were doing their part to shatter the image you described. Now that I think abut it, I don't think I've met one that wasn't gorgeous.
-
No way! That rocks. And that's saying nothing of the hottie in them. Wow.nice shoes, too bad her toes are sticking out too much...
Besides, with slides that have that style strap over the toes, and the high arch (they look like a 5" rise), her feet are bound to slip forward as she walked. And oh what a sight that must have been. Thanks for sharing those Mazun. They're all incredible.

How high can one go?
Sky's the limit.
But if you're not into platforms, you'll probably reach your limit a bit sooner. That's one of the reasons I love platforms. I do love the look of platforms overall, but just looking at such a high heel is incredible.
I'm usually in 6", 7", or 8" platforms, but with pumps, 6 inch is pretty much my limit (if I expect to walk at all).
I'm definitely with you that the lower heels (less than 5" in my case) lose their appeal as the higher ones showed up. I don't even remember wearing less than 5" inchers in the past few years now that I think about it.

Heelfan: If I were to guess, I'd say they disappear into the bedrooms of the world and very rarely venture further. All of my previous girlfriends had several pairs, but they were pretty much indoor shoes. Or in the case of those brave few you didn't mind venturing out in them, it was to parties where they would not have to walk much. Most ladies want to be in as little pain as possible when going out and hence aren't going to pick shoes with such a high heel, especially the kind I think you're referring to (6" heel, no platform). If they do, they are truly rare. I heard them referred to as diamonds in another thread. How very true. But with that said, if you ever make your way to the west coast of the US, take a trip to San Diego on any Friday or Saturday night. You'll see any heel height and style you can imagine proudly being worn by some of the most riveting ladies you've ever seen.

I know. Could you imagine some sweetheart that looks like that walking toward you like that IRL? Oooooffaaa! I think I'd pass out.I looked up Unknown's avatar, and I must say, the way she's strutting, better get out of the way!!!
If they broke into mine, they'd probably be thinking some girl lives there that doesn't wear anything other than heels. Can you imagine if someone came and robbed my house? Imagine what they would think? "Hmm, why does this person have so many platform thongs?"
-
Oh now that is cool! What a cutie. She looks like the sister of unknown's avatar.I've got my avatar up finally..... Instead she's teetering on the front end of her plat ff, or if you like she's making that smacking sound standing there.
-
Good call Chris. They look like they'd be perfect for street heeling. Unfortunately, we don't get much in the way of boot weather out here. I'd love to take my thighhighs out sometime. Nice legs by the way. I've been meaning to ask you, is that you in your avatar?
-
You mean you've actually seen women wearing these? Tell me you have a camera phone.I'm also surprised that so many women wear these even though most people don't like them.
Vegas baby. I tell ya....

:x Dammit... That was me by the way...

Welcome flipflop.
Well, I've got an okay collection of heels. Mostly the platform type sandals, the strappier the better. What I have more are the platform flip flops. You know, the chunky foam type that the girls tend to drag as they walk around in their jeans or velour jogging suits? From what I've read on these boards, it doesn't seem that the majority of posters here like them. I agree some are pretty ugly, and some are shaped like I how I like them, the higher the better of course.
I think you'er the only other person here besides me that likes those. In fact, there was recently a lively thread bashing them. But I am totally with you... the really high foam ones are really sexy especially with bright red nails. I recently got a pair that's 5 inches high in the back.
Any way, it's nice to see a fellow SoCaler and fellow platform sandals/thick flip flip affecionado around here. Welcome!

I must say I'm a little disappointed in how they fared (60% in the fugly category?). Minus the dangers of wearing 'em that high, I was also trying to get a feel for if you folks thought they looked too tacky for outside use. Firefox: I know what you mean. I've worn super plats outside of the house (backyard... not in public) and do have some experience with what you describe. But then again, almost all the heels I like are a bit too dangerous (other than platforms, I like stilettos which as most here know aren't the most stable things in the world). I'm starting to think I should contain my heeling to the inside world. PJ: Yeah, they're attention getters alright. And no, that would be a drawback for me as I would be nervous enough without the added attention. Oh well.
-
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I just noticed I screwed up option number three. But I guess the "fugly" part still got my point across. ShockQueen: That's exactly what I had in mind. Specifically, the black ones with some black jeans and maybe a T-shirt. TXT-1: Actually, they're not loud at all. They have a slightly softer rubber grip on the bottom than the usual 6/2 plats and hardly make any noise at all. chris100575: They make the same shoe with a smaller platform and hence, no hole. But the rivets and thicker heel are still there. I'm generally more of a fan of the plats like you and TXT-1 like. I was somewhat indifferent towards these when I first ordered them. And then I got them and tried them on. I was in love. They are by far some of the most comfortable heels I've owned, even with the 8"+ of heel they have. The thicker heel makes walking in them very easy so I was contemplating taking them out.
-
I was wondering what folks here thought of these. I realize some folks are no fans of platforms, but are these too extreme for outside?

Hoverfly is right. There's no way that would fly in the US right now. At least not if it was printed in a daily newspaper. There are non-pornographic men's mags that might have something similar (Maxim, FHM, etc.), but there's no way you'd see it in the New York Times or Washington Post. Europe's way more progressive in this area. Which makes me wonder... if "indecency" is the issue, why do they freely print and show on TV during prime time pictures of carnage? Is that somehow decent?
I just wore my stilettos out!

Danielle, nice work! If that was your first time, it sounds like you're a natural.
I walked up and down the street for a minute (literally, 60 seconds
*lol* Were you counting or did you check your watch?
