  1. I didn't know that but i shouldda guest by looking at some of his shits. The late sixties psychedelic fashion could be pretty outrageous. I remember wearing fairly feminine flowing eastern cotton blouse, beads and bangles, very long hair, earrings, mascara ... even platform sandals. The audience at rock concert was quite tolerant at the time. Vanessa

  2. Hi Dr Shoe, the previous one was already a SIERRA, 2 l. petrol engine. It was 12 years old and fairly battered when I sold it (to a friend who still drove it for over a year). Mileage ? Something like to the moon and back .... The present one, parat from being red, is a 1600cc. OK I miss the power of the 2 l but i see the difference on my petrol bill at the end of the month. As i'm abroad for the time being, the car peacegfully resting in a garage in the country side. Van-the Man-Essa

  3. Living and working in the tropics, I can tell you that women do wear mostly strappy shoes in hot climate. It's accepted. And again there is strong discrimination between men and women. Women can go to work in light clothes, perfectly suited to the climate, and wear strappy sandals while men (at least in the administration and private sector offices) have to be fully dressed (no bare feet, socks compulsory .... tie compulsory in many executive positions ...). It's hard to be a man sometimes ... Vanessa

  4. You're right Azraelle, Gaulthier should not be studied in an utilitarian perspective, still from a purely esthetic perspective I'm still not convinced by the cut off pantyhose and thongs. I'm not Gaulthier but i feel i have better dressing sense (and so do you ...) Cheers Vanessa

  5. A red one ... Make ? Euh ... Has to be an old Sierra if i rememeber, Never been a car maniac. I find that having a brand new fancy car is too frustrating once you start to get scratches etc which is unavoidable when living in a large city. With an old car, i don't care. The best car I ever had in my life ? Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 with a 6 cylinder petrol guzzling engine ... I wasn't paying for the gas tough. Vanessa

  6. I agree with you Brandy, With his thongs, open shirt and capri pants, he looks like coolie that can be encounter in any Asian port pushing a wheelbarrow or pulling a cart. Never thought them to be at the avant-guarde of fashion He seems to be wearing some short of cut-foot pantyhose. I don't see the use . Vanessa

  7. Hi everybody,

Thanks to PhiPhi on the French c-tendance forum

(http://www.c-tendance.com/forum/index.php), two useful addresses in Paris (and they do have a website!).

I know by experience that it's more difficult to find large sizes (over EUR 41) in France than in UK.

For those of you who travel by Eurostar, this may be worth a stopover in Lille :

    "Les Aubaines de la Redoute."

    rue léon ganbetta

    LILLE.

It is the place to get great bargain from the La Redoute Catalogue. Shoes up to size 44. plus clothes etc.

Hope you'll find these addresses useful.

    Cheers,

    Vanessa

  8. Hi JH, I used to get pretty paranoid too but now I just walk in the shop and behave normally. OK I try not to go in e.g. "boutique" selling only ladies shoes especially if they have (middle-aged) customers in. I go mostly to high street shops or discount shops. I never encountered any problem and sales people have always be helpful. I recommend to wear heels when going in the shop. I must say that being a member of this board (and the old one) has helped to build my confidence tremendously. I now know that a lot of guys enjoy wearing heels and do it openly. So do it ! Vanessa

  9. Hi guys,

for those of you who speak or understand French, I've more or less started a new thread on a french "alternative fashion" forum.

They're still pretty shy about the idea of guys in heels as the forum is pretty straight, no CD / TV forum, very macho-man oriented although it is originally a "male pantyhose site" (Comfilon type) ... you follow me ?

    French are weird sometimes.

Anyhow, come and have a look at

    http://www.c-tendance.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=18

    Cheers

    Vanessa

P.S. So far i seem to be the only contributor, so come on guys, pratice your french.

  10. Hi Yamyam, You' re very right, BARRATS has a limited but fair selection up to size 10. I recently bought a pair of boots (heels 10 cm) and a pair of slingbacks (heels 9 cm) , both in size 10 and on sales in the Oxford street outlet. As I've already written so many times and will keep on repeating, GO FOR IT. Don't be shy, these shops - esp. in large cities - do have a fair proportion of male customers and the shop attendants are use to selling ladies shoes to male customers. They are always helpful and cool about it. You wil actually feel much more relax than in those so-called "TV-shops" where some middle-aged ladies makes one really feel weird. Cheers to all, Vanessa
