  1. I know Dr Shoe. I too would prefer my pics on better angles. At the moment I do it all by myself but I might try taking some pics with a tripod and timer for some better results. Or maybe I might meet a fellow bootlover who is happy to take some nicer snaps and video clips

  2. LOL Dawn. :) Stay tuned for more boot pics as my flickr site is coming together nicely.

    Boots4me:-)

The heck with what the Dingos think of your boots, They are the "Cats Meow" here. Bright red pics will be fine for me. Bravo!

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

  3. Thanks for the compliments everyone. Yeah Bubba the red sure does stand out. I'm usually into more subtle colours but I was feeling daring and decided to buy the red. One thing I have found is that they are really comfortable to walk in as they have a thin padded innersole. Since I love taking pics and clips of my boots I've decided to set up a flickr site to show them off. Initially it will have friends access only and I will only post the link in the personal members website section on this forum to make sure that people who want to see them are fellow heel lovers.

  4. Hi all, Just received my first pair of Leather thigh high boots. They are Red Leather Pleaser 8899's from Beston Shoes. The feel great on my legs and fit like a glove. I also love the colour. Considering I only paid around $70, I was pleasantly surprised at the leather quality. Beston shoes (Ebay Store) were brilliant! I ordered them and received them within a week. Pretty damn quick for US to Australia shipping. Hope you like the pics!

  5. Nylon zips are far more durable than metal ones, I always advice to change to nylon from metal.

Metal zip teeth are individually crimped to make the zipping, the problem arises that if you have to force them or the zip twists the can move & then the zip can pop or fall apart. nylon zips either have a spiral of plastic with is stitched in place or teeth which are melted onto the material that makes up the zipping & in my experience are far more forgiving to movement forcing & daily life!

Thanks for the wonderful advice Shoerepairer. I'll stick with nylon zippers.

  6. Would anyone know when replacing boot zippers if there is any advantage in going for metal zippers over the standard nylon/plastic? Are they more durable and less prone to popping? When my current zippers finally give way after all my running repairs, I'll be taking shoe repairers advice and request that my replacement zippers are not stitched in as deep to give me that 1/2 inch extra I need to make my boots a perfect fit.

  7. Well subsequent to my previous post, for those of you who are following my journey to find boots with rear zippers, I have now found two internet companies with rear zipper boots and another that is willing to make their boots with a rear zipper.

The first is 6inchheelsforever with their model UKB

    http://www.orientvisual.com/6inchforever/shoepage.php?querytype=id&searchstring=UKB

From the photos they look very nice but if anyone has purchased this particular model of boot, I'd love to hear some feedback from you.

The second one is Glamourboots.com and their model Countess.

    http://www.orientvisual.com/6inchforever/shoepage.php?querytype=id&searchstring=UKB

These boots do look very good quality but it is also reflected in the price.

And the 3rd is estresmodes/antonio camino omano who said they are able to make their boots with a rear zipper and in some cases for no extra charge

Well it looks like I have some thinking to do....

  8. Gooogle "bespoke shoemaker australia" and you should find what you're looking for. Don't worry if they seem conservative as a proper bespoke shoemaker will be used to doing stuff for the stage etc.

Thanks again Dr Shoe. You're a wonderful font of boot/shoe knowledge. Unfortunately one thing I'm starting to discover, is that custom made boots be it here is Aus or overseas seem to start at around the $1000 mark. Unfortunately it looks like I have champagne tastes with a beer budget so whilst I'd love a pair of rear zipper boots in my size, until someone decides to factory line back zip boots in size 13/45 to get them sub $500 they will probably be a pipe dream for me.

  9. Yes, I'm a sucker for that feeling too.

Boots4Me, have you considered tracking down an Australian bootmaker?

Great idea Dr Shoe, I think that will be the only way I will get rear zipper boots in my size. I found an Australian company on the net called after dark creations who custom make boots but they don't have any rear zipper boots in their range that I can see and it appears that they import their custom stock from known manufacturers rather than make boots themselves but I will email them to see if they can be of assistance.

Manoleat, thanks again for the tip but off the shelf rear zipper boots appear to be the domain of the sub size 10 boot wearer. I'd kill for size 8-9 feet.

  10. Whilst I still enjoy being a man, I do have a strong feminine side and if circumstances permitted, I'd prefer to be more feminine during my boot wearing as it is a big part of connecting me with my feminine side. Unfortunately, I rarely get the opportunity to dress fully as a woman so more often than not I wear my boots with my "man clothes" which is still a wonderful feeling. If possible I also like wearing my elbow length leather gloves under my jacket with my boots to make me feel that little bit more feminine.

  11. Hey! Who said he didn't say it....You're the only one that knows for sure what he said. So, why not just go out and get 5 or 6 pair of 5" heel boots and wear them all of the time....And, if anyone asks, you can always say Doctor's orders. The heels relieve my back pain/ :)

Bubba, In a perfect world, doing what you suggested would be wonderful but with a wife who doesn't support my boot wearing and a job that is ultra conservative, my opportunities for boot wearing will remain somewhat limited, and with the wife scruitinising credit cards and bank accounts, my boot purchasing opportunities are also limited.

I'll be having a boot get together with someone from this forum soon who is local to me which will give me an opportunity for some more boot wearing time which will be wonderful!

I just wish my wife was supportive but unfortunately she sees my feminine side as a weakness. I'm a strong and supportive husband and father but for some reason this counts for naught, all because I have feminine side that from time to time likes to dress up and wear boots.

    Cheers,

  12. Boots4me:-)

I don't have any leads at the moment, but I can tell you this. I have had a couple of pairs of boots in the past with rear zippers and the sensation of the foot going into the boot, the inclination of the heel and how the boot encloses the foot while being zippered up is truely sensational.

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

Ohhh Dawn did you have to do that!! Now I'm even more determined to get a pair of rear zipper boots. That sensation you so wonderfully described is what I am after as well as the fashionable look.

    Cheers

  13. Thanks Manoleat. As the good doctor said, they certainly are "lush" boots. I love the cognac "Momentum" boots but unless I win the lottery I'd say they would be way out of my league price wise. On first inspection I reckon they would be at least $800-900 and add a flight to Germany from Australia (which I suspect is their location) for the sizing and we are looking at around $3000 which is way too much for me but thanks for the find all the same. If anyone else knows of a cheaper alternative for rear zipper boots, I'd love to hear from you.

  14. I love fashionable boots with a rear zipper and was wondering if anyone knows an online supplier who may carry such a style in a 12-13 size (45 EU) with a 4"+ heel?? I have looked on a few of the more popular online stores without success. This would be an easy purchase if I was a 9-10.

  15. Did the Doctor happen to mention how high of a heel you would need to reduce the pain in your feet?

He didn't exactly bubba but he did use the term stiletto, so I'd say over 3 inches. I did have a funny dream of him saying "go out and buy yourself half a dozen pairs of 5 inch heeled boots and wear them all the time!" Ahhh the mind works in mysterious ways. lol

And to kittyinboots, As I only wear my boots for about 2 hours a day at the most, between my boots and my orthotics in my standard shoes, I now have zero foot pain.

  16. I went to my podiatrist a month back to see if he could fix some of my foot pain. He said I have problems with my plantar fascia (tissue under foot that runs from heel to toe). He said that I also have a shortish achilles. He custom made some orthotics for my shoes but said that if I were a woman, to overcome foot pain he would also recommend a nice pair of heels!! That was music to my ears and explains why I have no foot pain when wearing my 5 inch heeled boots.

  17. Welcome luvfemshoes. Wonderful to see another Aussie has joined the forum and great to see you are from NSW. Not sure which part of the state you are from but a few of us here are from Sydney. I only joined this forum recently but already I have made some good friends here and everyone is really supportive.

  18. Quite right shoerepairer. my zipper popped again and I realised that the zipper runner was the problem. I found a good quality runner on an old bag I had which was the same size and replaced it. The zipper is now working beautifully with no popping. It was tricky replacing the runner which I did by removing the little metal tabs at the top of the zipper and then slid the runner on slowly ensuring both sides of the zipper teeth we lined up correctly.

  19. aussieheels great to hear your experiences. You are far braver than I am. I hope to get to where you are at soon. As others have said, its all about confidence and comfortable surroundings. I fear that one bad experience will throw me right back in my shell so I am at the very careful stage of wearing my boots. I'm sure that once my confidence grows, I'll be able to handle any bad experiences that come my way. I too have chickened out on many occasions but I'll keep pushing myself to be a bit bolder over time. I think public transport is a bit of a way off for me but I really do admire your courage in taking those trips. I think we Aussies are starting to make a presence on this board. We could almost have the numbers to start our own group here. So which city do you live in? I'm from Sydney like Destheman.

  20. Wonderful words ShoeDre, I wish i had your intestinal fortitude. For me public outings will be baby steps as this is really my first expression on any forum of my desire to wear Hi-heeled boots. Even Destheman's foray into a service station is too advanced for me at the moment but I will get there someday. I wish my Wife was as understanding as yours. She kind of accepts that I like to wear boots but she is not supportive in any way and therefore my boot wearing has to be discreet. I'm originally from Melbourne and I can see how the environment may be more accepting of our desires but I guess there are as many accepting people as there are ignorant buffoons no matter where you go and I agree that a familiar environment with supportive friends is without doubt the way to go.

  21. Hi Destheman, As mentioned in a previous thread, I have worn my boots in public places, but only when nobody is around. I guess you could say that it is a way of easing into wearing boots in more public places. I have a long commute every day so what I do is after work, I slip on my boots when I get into the car and then after searching google maps I look for a place that I will feel comfortable, like less built up areas, country lanes or parks. I then get out of the car and go for a stroll. I always take my phone with a camera built in to record the walk so I can relive it whenever I am unable to take my booted walks. I really do love wearing my boots when driving and do so now every day which gives me my daily boot fix. Learning to drive in high heels took a bit of practice and I did encounter some initial discomfort whilst my feet adjusted to the new positioning, but now the discomfort is gone, I can change gears and accelerate with the best of them and my boots are like a second skin. Such a wonderful feeling. I also love wearing leather gloves (which are actually elbow length and hidden under my jacket), and as we are now heading into our Winter I am looking forward to many commutes and outings in my boots and gloves.
