  1. Last weekend I purchased my first boots, actually two pair, from Peirre Silber in Santa Clara: a Pleaser Seduce Black Patent 2000 and a Pleaser Domina 3000 over the knee boot in Black fake leather (PU). The later have a 6 inch heel and the former my usual 5" heel. I'd classify the fit on the 2000 calf boots as comfortable, and the 3000 knee boots as tight. I spent evenings in Santa Clara enjoying both boots, mostly in the Santa Row shopping district, where there are many nice restaurants, wine bars, etc. The heels, as usual for me, were mostly hidden under jeans or chinos, and on the hotter evening I kind of wish I had the bravery to throw on a pair of shorts or a skirt like TBG! The 6 inch heels were new to me (except for a pair of extreme pumps I tried unsuccessfully to wear in my introduction to woman's heels.) The inch extra height in heel results more in change of the slope of my foot than in an increase in height. The restriction in movement - Rocking forward on my toes, I could only lift the heel a half inch or so off the ground - was very intoxicating. I spent Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evening in these boots - A trip to the Chili's bar with a just a couple blocks walk from the parking lot. No one seemed to notice, but I was kind of focused on my posture and trying to relax in the shoes. The over the knee worked OK with the jeans - these were heavy enough to keep the wider top flare of the boot for showing through. Triple layers (socks, boots, jeans) in the summer can get a bit warm, though the early evening in the was a comfortable 68 degrees or so. Nights 2&3 (Monday and Wednesday) in the 6's got me all over the shopping area - I walked up and down the streets and put enough time in to significantly wear down one heels tip (I must be scrapping the heel a bit when I walk) about 5 glasses of wine in 5 bars... not very crowded though. Not many ladies in high heels compared to Saturday night where many fine heels were spotted. The 5 inch patents kind of grew on me, a surprise since I wouldn't normally think of wearing a shiny patent shoe with jeans, but from a style point of view, I though it worked quite well. These boot are almost 2 inches longer then the higher heels, and the shiny toe of the boot has a nice detail seam running down its center right out to the tip of the toe. I had a shiny - though not patent shiny - belt to wear - that looked coordinated. I spent a whole evening on Saturday, sampling wines and a little grub. Very crowded on the streets and sidewalk cafes, but no comments from folks, except a "you sure are tall..." comment from a waitress - I'm about 6'8" in these heels. I've gotta learn to answer these with a "only because I'm wearing heels" just to start conversation. I wore these boots to the airport and through security (Hint: I unzipped the sides about half way before entering the security line to make removing easier) Older ladies (very short) behind didn't notice but a pilot in front of me and then the TSA security guy at the entrance to the scanner both gave me and the boots in the bin second glance each. Landing in HotLanta Thursday, I pulled the boots and jeans off in deference to the humidity and a pair of short and sandals after I claimed my luggage. (I felt so comfortable in the 5 inch boots I didn't carry on a spare pair of footwear.) A good trip and good additions to my higher altitude daily wear heels.

  2. jwhite... The Pierre Silber Store is setup as a lingerie store but women and men were in there. The retail part is just a corner of the warehouse - I could see stacks of shoeboxes in the warehouse area. Friendly to men and women. Though several customers came in during my visit, I was the only one trying on shoes.

  3. I'm visiting the silicon valley area on business. I noticed the Pierre Silber store listing on the web - with a show room / warehouse in Santa Clara - only a couple miles from where I chose to stay. They were friendly and helpful - though they did not have a great selection in my size 14/15 in the king of shoe I like, but they had lots of pumps and a few boot. the boots were what I wanted to try. They only had one or two pair that were calf boots - everything else was over the knee. K also wanted the change to compare the Pleaser Domina 6 inch heel against my normal Seduce 5 inch heel. What a difference the inch makes. The Domina's are a good two inch smaller toe to heel for that inch gain in heel height. Quite a new experience. I bought two pair of boots, a stretch patent pair of calf Seduce with a nice looking center seem down the toe. 5" and very comfortable - I'll probably wear these on the plane home. I also got the Dominas in a PU black over the knee (3000). I'm going to work up to wearing those in public. both boots will be nice when winter come around - under $100 for both. I was very nice to be able to try on shoes before buying - I must have had over a dozen pairs on my feet.

  4. Daily driver 95 Aerostar AWD, 189K miles White. Wife's 2005 Land Rover LR3 is a great car we picked up used for a song when Gas was $4/gal. Likewise the New 2007 Ram work truck my son drives, and my daughter drives MY silver Mazda RX8. I love my carbon footprint, b/c man-made CO2 is irrelevant to global warming... Unless Pres O legislates logic away! My next (and maybe last) car is going to be a 997 Porsche 911 S. I would have it now 'cpt for the market crash...

  5. Jeff, always looking good... That's a look I'd like to pull off... I tend to feel comfortable hiding my heels, but these days a skinny jean is popular at least on the ladies side - something like this...

Then a good pair of boots! Pleaser Seduce 3020's or your Legends would work I bet. I'll just have to summon your courage keep my head high an go out there... You and TBG inspire us all.

  6. I've found that some stores (American Eagle) that carry men's and women's jeans seem to not be as accommodating. The Buckle stores, on the other hand, usually are very accommodating. Though, I usually head off the discussion, by saying I prefer the cut of the women's jeans. I've had sales girls from Buckle make the comments, "I wish I could get my bf to wear these jeans"

  7. I have been "Called" on the heels in the briefcase deal "Is this your bag" on occasion... but never anything rude.. and these are the 5" stilettos in my avatar. I actually have better luck when wearing the heels through security - they go in a separate container than the briefcase - so no one pays them any mind, 'cept for the occasional look from the person behond me in the security line..

  8. I was at Atlanta Airport and in heels and on a whim with a bit of time before my flight got myself a shoe shine. Got a second look, "just my style" was my comment and the rest of the time was spent talking about basketball. $20

  9. Today at lunch - as I regularly do - went to put on my heels... At work on Fridays - jeans are allowed so I have my long jeans on that normally hide the heels - and when at work in regular shoes I tuck under 3 inches of the cuff of the jeans. So today I've have my 5 inch heels on, and leave to go into the convenience store - I even check my reflection in the window (too briefly) as I walk to the front door, and I notice a guy in a car parks smiling ear to ear - he was obviously waiting for some one and could have noticed the heel poking out under the cuff as I step - at least I thought - that doesn't bother me... I get my soda, pay for it and leave to return to the car. Same guy and his colleague in the passenger seat are looking right at my feet as I leave. OK a little self consciousness seeps in. I get to the point where I can see my reflection in the windo again and what to I see? Right foot with cuff still tucked under - left as it should be. Aak. Heel shoe everything completely visible and a fashion faux pah at the same time. Oh well, I could understand the laughter. But I didn't notice any other response in the crowded convenience store. Maybe I should go for the narrow leg jean and bare all my beautiful heels as many of you do in public.

  10. like my avatar - I wear all the time - its was nice to see I was ahead of the style curve when I started with these 4 years ago. At DSW the other day, there was no less that 20 styles of the high heeled oxford variations.

  11. Well, a few times I have slept in the heels - sometime waking in the middl of the night to remove them... As I am tall, my feet hnd over the bed, and sleeping on my stomach places my legs and feet is position similar to standing. I have a pair of 7" pumps that just bend my toes to a very tight angle - where my typical 5 inch heels are more comfortable. I have never mastered waliking in the 76 inch heels, as my knees have a small bend in them to retain a balance. The 5''s are never a problem - though my comfortable stride in them reduces to about 2 feet as mentioned.

  12. I was in Minneapolis last spring for a conference and walking the downtown in my usual 5" oxford stilettos. there was a band playing at the square I was in the mood enjoying my surroundings that just generally forgot what my footwear was. A street crossing light changed a little earlier than I expected, and I had to hustle across the street - breaking into a 6 or eight stride run to the opposing curb. "Gosh, I did that in heels!" I thought to myself, I was in high heel nirvana... Just a note, when concentrating on my footwear and stride I think I fatigue about 50% faster than when "just walking" in my elevated footwear.

  13. Also always out in 5" heels, I've just a few times recognized others in higher or similar heels. A few weeks ago at a convenience store a young black women was wearing 5-1/2 inch heels that had a one inch or less platform, dressed in a nice skirted business suit - she likely wears the higher heels to be taller. When asked about my heel height (only a few times) I've always responded at 4" because that seems high but not fetishy to most, IMO. Also a bit more realistic, because (and I don't want to start this discussion up again) I'm not quite 4" taller in these 5 inch (measured at the back) heels. Being a large man, over 100kg, I was asked how the skinny stiletto heel can support my weight once - I just replied "You have to buy good shoes and have good balance."
