  1. Very true Olounda. As women they are granted the priviledge of wearing whatever they wish. For men it is something you must fight for, and then it becomes a conquered right. Thus, you are not taking care just for a pair of shoes, but what they represent.

  2. I believe the type of shoe you can see at that link is also the easiest way to drive society into acceptance of males wearing heels. The look of those shoes is so simple and elegant they fit with a nice skirt or an outstanding business suit - trousers and jacket.

  3. Many thanks Dawn!. Before I posted a single message I passed various days reading the contest of many threads, and found this site much more interesting of what I could imagine at first sight. I wish to congratulate and thank the "main board" for building this community and hope many hispanophones come join here too.

  4. I have liked the sight of high heels all my life, but my interest in wearing high heels is from some years ago.

When I was a toddler and up to -say- some 6 years I wore maryjanes (by Dior or Chanel) my parents used to buy for me; there were no raised eyebrows or something, it was quite natural for a boy my age wearing those. The only thing I disliked is that mine were always black and I would have died for a pair of red or white ones!.

I must also mention that within the same time, my mother used to buy me thick cotton tights, and I would wear them under shorts. I liked that very much, but all of a sudden some day there were no more maryjanes, no more tights-&-shorts (only tights under slacks during winter vacations). All I could do was wonder why the heck I could not wear'em anymore as I always did.

When I was about 12-13yo I found a great pair of maryjanes in the Boys section of a local shoestore and they were my size!. Gosh, did I save every single cent I earned that summer!. Never again saw something similar, not by far. They were simply t-strap flat maryjanes, largely sized, and labeled as "boys shoes". Some 10 years ago bought another pair of maryjanes (with some sort of "celtic knot" design) in Aguascalientes City, and I must tell they got lots of compliments.

Since then I wonder why there aren't high heels for men, and I find no logic on it at all: most boots for men bear higher heels than any other men's shoe style, sp. those texan style boots, or the "tacon cubano" heeled boots... and shoes!, but those tacon cubano shoes are intended to be worn by dancers - not only pro's but weekend "danzoneros" and such.

I've been searching in the internet and found many medium and high heeled shoes which design is absolutely manly, and think why, who or what is not allowing us to wear them and not be molested.

  5. Bubba, reading many posts I've realized there are two users from Mexico, and sent a message to only one. I imagine there are more so I opened a group called "Heelspanoamerica" for all those users from Mexico, Latin-america, or hispanophones. Spanish is preferred in the messages sent to this group, and everybody is welcome!.

  6. Hi folks, As Bubba advised, I've been lurking in the net, looking after many shoe models I would like to have and wear, but then there is this problem: Mexico follows a propietaire standard adhering to no international convention on shoe sizing - for what I know. Then converting our "numbers" to some other coding can be a real nigthmare; and you also have to deal with the width thing!. In my country, "ladies shoes" (high heels, flats and such) come in very limited sizing, thus reducing the chances for taller guys like me to simply go buying them at the store. I would like to get some advise from other mexican high-heelers who would like to share their experiences (I use a mexican 8-8.5) and of course I'm eager to learn from this great community!.

  7. Though I'm not yet a high heel user I have had many dreams where I'm wearing high heels (and in many cases, heels and skirts) in many situations - e.g. at work, at home, with my family, friends, clubbing - and is never an issue, like everybody takes it for the most normal thing.

  8. Hello to everybody!, I'm a 32 years old man from Mexico and I'm very glad I've found this website; for years I've been wondering why we men are not "allowed" to wear high heels shoes, nevertheless some men's boots carry what can be considered as such. I also like flats, like maryjanes or what are called in Spanish "manoletinas" (kind of toreador shoes). I have bought some men's shoes - adult sized - designed as maryjanes, and a few opera pumps as well, though I would like to find the kind of maryjanes many of us have seen depicted as vintage kids shoes (I myself had various pairs of Christian Dior's when I was a tyke), like those sported by Buster Brown, or the old court pumps some relate to Little Lord Fauntleroy. I must make clear in no way I'm talking about some type of "kiddie costume" but I've seen many old photographs and paintings where adults wear shoes of the maryjane/opera pump type or high heeled ones, and to my point of view they look quite classy and elegant. A problem in my country is the very limited sizing of ladies shoes, and I have not found a conversion chart. Glad to be part of this community!.
