Thank you Jeff. I never thought I would ever be married. As a person I'm too self-absorbed and I didn't think I could make a proper husband. That was one of the issues that had to be sorted out before she accepted my proposal. She had interpreted my long silences as anger or disinterest.

My bead earrings had to be taken off before parotid gland surgery. Kathy never really liked them and refused to help me put them back on (my left ear is completely numb and I'm afraid to do it myself), complaining that they looked tacky. As a compromise she bought me diamond ones the other Saturday and I now wear them in the two lobe piercings (on the same day I bought her engagement ring and matching wedding band). She's very happy and so am I.

Sometimes you may live to regret telling her, or worse wearing them in front of her and having her freak out. That's what happened with my ex-girlfriend Jean. There can be one of the following outcomes. 1. She accepts you, and allows you to wear your boots. 2. She accepts you, but your boots have got to go. 3. She says "bye bye". The second outcome happened with Kathy. However that didn't affect the relationship except to establish the limits of what was acceptable to her. Luckily she has been accommodating in every other respect, including wearing her shoes and boots during sex so that I won't miss my own.

In answer to the original question: yes! I haven't worn boots while having sex with Katherine. She won't allow it. However the relationship I have with her is so satisfying that it isn't necessary. In fact I haven't even been wearing my boots in private very often although I have many opportunities to do so (I still live alone). Kathy is wearing the boots now. I bought her a pair of leather thigh boots with 5 inch heels that I consider to be an acceptable stopgap measure. However I plan to have a higher quality pair made to her dimensions. Kathy had a very sheltered upper middle class upbringing in her own country and much of what I am asking her to do is completely new to her. To my relief she did not freak out when I requested that she wear boots during sex and was only mildly annoyed when I said that I would like to wear women's boots too. She loves her boots and is getting quite expert at using them in bed (they usually have to be wiped clean after use). I can also get quite aroused by her dress shoes (she is partial to Nine West). This is not the first time I have stopped wearing boots. I have gone through periods of years when I have not worn any high heels. Usually it was when I had a particularly satisfying relationship (I wear them only for sexual stimulation), however at other times I seemed to lose interest and take up other hobbies. There have also been periods (earlier this year for example) when I did not have a partner and the boots were a sort of "girlfriend".

Those shoes that LL Bean has. I don't remember what they're called but they have molded rubber bottoms that cover most of the foot and leather uppers with laces. I think they're supposed to be for hunters and fishermen, but instead are usually worn by the tree-hugging set.

Women's Shoes Plus have many conservative styles in large sizes. I bought a pair of leather wedge slides for myself from them.

Let's face it - despite attempts by various designers to raise heels on men's shoes over the years, the over-conservative mainstream outlets refuse to carry any such products. And despite increasing demand, most outlets are limiting their selection of women's shoes to sizes to 10 or 11 and below, despite the fact that many mainstream women's shoe manufacturers, like Franco Sarto and Sudini, have increased their production lines to handle sizes up to 13.

The question is - Why?

Probably because people like my dad would wear them. He actually owned several pairs of "disco" shoes during the 1970s.

Why didn't you explain that you might just take another look at her if she wore heels?

She did a couple of times. She was 19 but looked like a small girl wearing her mom's clothes. She was also quite awkward. The older woman had a full figure and confident manner with men. I also liked her stories about when she was at teacher's college (which must have been in the 1930s).

I have not worked in the defense industry for over 13 years so I am not familiar with the current attitudes. I recall that there were some comical situations, for example a security officer became alarmed upon hearing that one of my professors at the university was born in mainland China. A gay coworker took more than 3 years to get his SI/TK clearance. However I don't believe that the people in charge of conducting background investigations would have been capable of distinguishing between a man who is gay and one who simply likes to wear women's shoes.

I can't see the shoes at all, but it's the hair that does it for me.

In 1985 a tall blonde secretary who was then 68 years old came to work in a leather skirt and rounded-toed pumps with 4 inch heels. I was 29 then. Advanced age does not preclude attractiveness. Young men would find any excuse to bother her in her office. I had a tremendous crush on this lady and was always bringing her little gifts. A young girl who worked in the company library was "after" me in those days and she was very annoyed that I was spending so much time visiting the older woman.

Sky Scrapers appear to be an outlet for The Little Shoe Box. The illustration on their website is of TLSB's catalog. Perhaps TLSB is itself an outlet of a manufacturer which is yet unknown to me. I notice some commonality with the product numbers used by Leatherworks, La Piazza, and others. The possible heel heights which Sky Scrapers advertises seem low. For example they claim no more than 4 inches in a size 5. I'm sure they could do at least 5 1/2 inches if they were really aggressive. It seems such a waste of time to go lower than this, except that the alternatives (imported stripper boots with 1 piece molded acrylic bottoms) are rather grim.

It was cool and drafty for a couple of days last week so Kathy wore a pair of leather dress boots with 4 inch heels. These boots are about 15 years old and have semi-pointed toes and slender heels with a slight curve. She arrived in this country with almost nothing 24 years ago and takes exceptional care of her clothing (I on the other hand usually manage to destroy a pair of shoes every 9 to 12 months).

I wish they still made women's dress boots like those. I find most contemporary styles to be unsatisfying, an exception being the J Crew Uptown boots which regrettably have not been available since the beginning of 2003.

We will be visiting my brother near DC sometime in late January or early February and I thought Kathy might like to wear something a bit warmer. I've been trying to find something similar to the following elastic-topped leather boot advertised recently on eBay.

Wearing high heels and boots is a privilege Kathy has reserved for herself in our relationship. I consider myself fortunate however that she wears any footwear I ask her to, both indoors and out.

Stay away from the north (Kahuku) and southwest (Waianae) parts of Oahu. The local boys can be pretty tough with anyone they think is a mahu. I think you'll do fine wherever there are lots of tourists.

My two aunts one of whom passed away a few weeks ago at 88 encouraged it by letting me wear their shoes. I also think my mom found my first pair of boots while cleaning my room. As far as I am aware, no other members of my family know. I wore my boots to bed with my ex-girlfriend. I had earlier gotten Jean to wear crotch boots during sex. Then one day I showed her my own boots which were exactly like hers. She tolerated it for awhile, then broke up with me because of it (so she says). Kathy is okay with my wearing some feminine accessories. She likes my scarves, nail polish, and fabric slides. However she is totally against my wearing women's boots. I didn't actually tell her I had been doing this in Jean's bed (she doesn't like to hear about Jean anyway). I described it as a hypothetical situation (e.g. "I like to see women in thigh boots and would like to wear such boots myself"). However since Kathy has been very cooperative about wearing things that I like, I am not going to force the issue. The relationship has developed to the point where it is probably going to be permanent and I don't want to mess it up.

I know the area. It's near Cal Expo. I went to the gun shows there until the end of 1991. Driving 270 miles was getting to be extremely tiring so I stopped doing it. It's interesting that you picked Sacto for your first outing. Perhaps the place has grown up since I was last there but it used to be very redneck in comparison with the cities nearer to the coast.

If you're going to wear those outside, just wear pants with cuffs a little longer than normal. Slightly flared cuffs help. I've been doing that for a few months now and no one seems to notice.
