  1. I've been thinking about picking up the Doves' latest album. How is it? ... I went to amoeba music (HUGE record store in hollywood) and I bought: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (self titled album) Come Around --- Sing It Loud (band on the right) The first is sort of a post-punk revival sound reminiscent of the 90's indie movement with distorted fuzzy power chords, quite melancholy singing backed by a rather upbeat poppy sound. The latter is just your standard modern punk/indie rock sound, but don't let that fool you; they're a great band.

  2. Samcar455, you mentioned Charlotte Russe for heels. As far as I have seen they only carry up to size 10 (US), not even an 11. Do they have larger sizes than 10 in your area?

It does seem that 10 is the general limit. I haven't been to there in a while (no moneys) so I can't really remember for sure. You might be able to check their online store for more sizes.

  3. Also make shure you use some good toe padding and take your time working up to wearing them for a long length of time.

Welcome to life on your toes.

    Dr Who 3

What toe padding would you recommend?

  4. I used to be rather close minded. I used to be very snobbish with music and very judgmental with people as well (to cite a few examples). But I've since tried to be a more open person to different tastes and personalities. Not everyone is the same, and in this world we have to grow to understand everyone, or at least give them a chance to be understood.

  5. I've found that in recent weeks I'm wearing lower heels, which suits. I still have plenty of pair with 4" heels I wear regularly, but I'm just as content in a pair of Dexters with a 3" heel, which for me feels about the same as a flat.

It's funny how I am entirely the converse of that. I wear converse every day. I think they're cool, i've got many different colors and they're easy to walk in. However, when it comes to heels I have to have really high heels. I enjoy the strain my ankle has of bending to that angle. And when I take off my heels, my feet hurt, but to me it's a worthy pain for being able to walk in them. I just enjoy the actual feeling I get of walking in them.

    :EDIT:

Didn't realize the irony of mentioning two different definitions of converse... Heh.

  6. Unfortunately, I tend to agree with you samcar...but who cares ?

More important for YOU is the fact you did try them in the store to make sure they fit before buying.

    Happy heeling !

Exactly. And like I said, if they left because of me. Then haha. I have disrupted their shopping experience. ;-)

  7. I think one of the toughest things to understand is that people generally don't care all that much. One time I went to a Charlotte Russe (they have pretty cute heels for really good prices) and as I walked to the back of the store where all the heels are there were about 4-5 women looking at the shoes as well. So I looked and finally chose a pair and asked one of the employees to get my size. As soon as she brings them out and I begin to try them on there was NO ONE in the shoe section of the store. I just chuckled to myself and walked around in them making sure they fit. Now, everyone could've just been shopping in that section, but I like to think that they left because of me. I think just taking a sort of spiteful attitude makes for the best way to get confidence to try them on.

  8. I listened to theoretical downfall and I'm no longer into death metal (is that how you would describe them?) but being able to look at them in a light when I used to I know that they are pretty good. And I really like Lily Allen. I need to pick up her new album.... <.< ... People should listen to The Gaslight Anthem. They're bluesy rock 'n' roll with a modern flare.

  9. I prefer rounded toe. I really don't like a lot of pointed toe styles. There are some I've seen where they are actually very complimentary of the style itself. But personally I find round toes to look a little more...cute. That's not to say they aren't sexy, but I won't lie; pointed toe shoes have a certain elegance and sexual prowess to them that rounded toes can't match. But there are also pointed shoes I've seen that just look ridiculous. I guess it mainly depends on how the shoe is made, but I personally prefer the rounded toe style.

  10. One of the coolest things that ever happened to me while I was trying on shoes was when the lady was very curious about it. She asked all sorts of questions about why, and do I like them, and etc. and I just thought it was a really cool experience. Just go for it, no one really cares enough to say anything.

  11. I think I would have just thanked him for his complement and never said a word about the jeans being from the womean's side of the store.

Well by that time we had pretty much established if I wanted an article of clothing that was a women's fasion, I wouldn't care.

  12. So, what about creating a section just for us teens, where boys and girls can post together? It would be a nice idea, since we teens will be the adults of tomorrow, and if we can spread the heel culture we can make a better world.

Ok maybe this last part is a bit visionary (!), but the sense is that usually we young want to meet together with other young ones who share the same passion. From this point of view hhp is a fantastic place full of life but it's easy to "get lost" in here, and I really don't mind chatting with someone of my age. I'm not rejecting you "aged", simply telling my opinion. Hoping to offend no one.

As JimC did state, it would be a touchy situation with it being such a small window if the board was 18-20 and if it were younger it would be a very touchy subject.

But at the same time I agree. I notice a lot of the guys here are WAY older than me (I'm 18 btw) and while I don't think there should be a limit it would be nice to know some people who are around my age that are going through similar things like I am.

    But I digress...
