  1. I do have Louboutin and Jimmy Chou heels. Unfortunately many of my 6 inch heels aren't made very well and I get them off the web. The store I mentioned sells the same type of 6 inch heels you can get online.  It's difficult to find top quality, non-platform, 5 and 6 inch stilettos unless you drop some big money, which I've done.

I understand your explanation now. It is true that some women give me the stink eye or make rude comments about my stilettos. I really think they're jealous and they don't like the fact their men notice!  Oh the life of a high heeled woman....  (LOL)

Sounds like a store selling Pleaser footwear.

Yes, they do sell Pleaser, I've seen them there. The store is really huge. If I didn't live so far away I'd love to work there!

I would have done your questionnaire but the answer choices were too restrictive - for example the question about favourite heel types had two options - stiletto or wedge/platform. I don’t likes wedges or platforms at all, and while I do like stilettos, most of my boots have Cuban or block heels. (Except for my cycling shoes, I don’t wear shoes, only boots).

And while I know that heels are meant to be bad for you, I have found that wearing 3-4” heels actually helps ease back spasms - so I couldn’t truthfully answer questions about heels and health.

I read your explanation post and think you’re totally correct in your asserting that people either “get” heels or they don’t and those that do “get” the idea, love them. The first time I stood up in heels - a pair of five-inch stiletto knee boots - was exhilarating. I “got it” straight away, understood the powerful appeal - doubled in my case because along with the sense of imperiousness that goes with wearing five-inch stilettos was a delicious sense of taboo breaking and stepping outside myself.

An hour later I also realised that despite my cycling thousands of miles each year, wearing five-inch stilettos was the single best calf muscle workout I’ve ever had!

Sorry the survey didn't work for you. By NO means is it scientific or all inclusive for everyone.

There have been very few people who "get" heels that have problems. Most who "get it" are very happy with their heels. I'll admit I'm one of the rare ones that LOVES her high heels but has suffered damage from them, but that's only because I started wearing them daily at such a young age (13) and I've worked in retail standing on my feet for years! It was inevitable that I was going to develop problems, after all, many people who work in retail for years end up with foot, leg or back problems even if they wear sturdy work shoes!  But as the saying goes, "I'm willing to suffer to look sexy".  But more on all that later in my story. You get me to open up so easily, Shyheels. (smile!)

  3. There is a specialty female shoe store in a city near me. They sell no platform stilettos (4,5,6,7 inches), they sell platform stilettos (4 inches up to 10 inches, stripper shoes, platform shoes, calf length high heel boots, thigh length high heel boots, etc. Sexy shoes is their business. I have found many pairs at this store. I have also found some online by doing Google searches... for example: "6 inch stilettos, no platforms".

Question for you: I don't understand this statement, please explain: "A point I am not sure about is the extend to which jealousy can be found in the first category."

I hope this helps!! Thanks for the interest  :-)

  4. Shyheels - As my story will eventually reveal, I spent years in 5 inch stilettos. I did move up to 6 inch heels later. You'll have to wait on the details  : - )

Chorlini - The easiest place to find the link is in "For the Girls". It's on the first page. No platforms... full stilettos!

  6. Just for clarification, I am 100% woman! I do see a lot of men here and that's okay with me. If anyone wants to wear high heels I say Go For It!  Looking back, I am somewhat surprised my school didn't at least have a discussion about my stilettos, but they didn't!  I think today they may consider them too dangerous for guy or gal to wear for fear of them falling and would update their dress policy to, "No heels above 2 inches", maybe 3 inches tops!

  7. Hi All, I am currently writing part 3 of my story. I just want you all to know that I'm not a 13 year old! I won't tell you my age, but suffice it to say I've been wearing high heels for over 30 years now! I don't want anyone to get nervous thinking they were talking to a 13 year old (smart thinking). I have a lifetime of stories about my high heels (they are my identity) and I want to share them with you. It may take me a while (LOL).  I decided to start at the beginning and move forward up until today.  Okay, that's clarified. Since we all seem to share a love of high heels by the virtue we're on this site, I do hope you enjoy my journey! Plus:

  8. LOL, my sense of style wasn't too great. No makep, conservative blouse and jeans. Lack of any fancy clothes brought that much more attention to my stilettos!; something I didn't even consider then. As for blisters, I think it was the knee high nylons that saved me. I have always worn nylons since my first day and I think that helps to avoid blisters; again, something I didn't consider at the time. I just new I was going to wear my high heels come hell or high water! (haha)

  9. I could not wait for the next day to wear them to school. I put on my new stilettos and jeans. I rolled up my jeans to my ankle to make sure my new shoes were on display for all to see. I headed out to the bus stop, full of anticipation. My walk to the bus stop was a little over a quarter mile and we live along a main road. I quickly learned it was difficult to walk along on the side of the road and my steps were short and tentative. There were cracks and small holes in the pavement that I never noticed before. As I made my way, I was shocked but happy when a couple of cars beeped their horns at me!

When the bus came, I climbed up the steps, my heels click-clacked as I walked down the aisle. Immediately I could feel eyes peeking at my shoes. I was so excited and could feel my heart pounding. I found a seat with a friend. She was awestruck by my shoes and began asking me about them right away. She loved them but said she could no way walk in something that high. When we arrived at school I had my first chance at going down steps. I made my way to the front of the bus and I held the rail as I made my way down the steps, taking each step with extra care.

By the time I got inside I realized that wearing such high heels was not going to be easy. I had already learned the challenges of a slippery mall floor, the dangers of cracks and holes on the side of the road, the difficulty with stairs, and now I found the floor of the school also very slippery. But I didn't care, I loved my new heels. My steps were shorter as I made my way to my first class. The noise was announcing my arrival and most heads (teachers and students) turned to watch me walk by. I immediately loved the attention. I arrived in my first class and sat down. The teacher came over to me and she told me she absolutely loved my shoes. She wore 2-inch heels in school but admitted she would wear 3 inch heels on the weekends. She asked me how they felt and I told her so far so good.

My first day in stilettos was going well. My friends all complimented me on my shoes. During lunch, a couple of friends asked me if they could try them on and I told them to let me break them in first... I was too embarrassed to slip them off and sit there in my stocking feet. By the time the afternoon came around my feet were starting to hurt. Once again, I didn't care, it was too much fun wearing them and I was loving the attention. I had always been pretty much a wallflower but these shoes put me at the center of attention.

The day continued on and I was in pain but enjoying every step. At the end of the school day, I had plans to go with friends to the movies. The movie theater was down the street and we'd always walk there from school. Once at the movie theater I was happy to sit down. By now my feet were killing me but I didn't want to admit it. I waited for the lights to go down and the movie to start before I gingerly slipped my feet out of my heels. I slipped them out just enough to relieve the pressure on my feet. I must admit it was a relief. I kept my feet out of my shoes for the majority of the movie. By the time the lights came back up, I had my heels back on my feet. I was picked up by my mother. She could read me like a book and knew my feet were hurting me. She asked me if I had learned my lesson. I told her it was a great experience and I was planning on wearing them again tomorrow. She told me I was stubborn and she was right. But more than stubborn, I was in love with these shoes and I was willing to suffer in them. They made me feel so sexy and feminine.

When I got home, I left my shoes on while eating dinner and doing my homework. I wanted to keep them on as long as possible to break them in. I knew from reading that once a pair of high heels were broken in that they'd become much more comfortable. My sister was the first one to tell me they were "slut" shoes. She was 4 years older than me and very much a tomboy. She was into sports and wore sneakers 90% of the time, but I think she was a little jealous that I had the nerve to wear them. My brother, 2 years older than me, was awed by my stilettos and, however he didn't say anything, I could tell he approved of them as I caught him looking at them a couple of times when we were watching TV together.

It was finally bedtime and I went upstairs. I was about to be introduced to a very unique sensation that would become well known to me. As I slipped my heels off, I was very much aware of the pulling in my calf muscles. It didn't hurt, but I could feel the tension trying to release. It actually felt as if I was leaning backward. I was somewhat shocked by this new feeling. In addition, I looked down at my feet and saw many red spots on my feet. I was happy that I had escaped any blisters. I sat on the edge of my bed and rubbed my feet and calves. I then took my shower and headed to bed. As I lay there falling to sleep my mind was thinking about my first day in high heels. Despite being tired, I found it difficult to slow my mind down as I played back the day's events in my mind. I was very happy and very sure that I would wear my new shoes again tomorrow!

  10. I remember the day I fell in love with high heels. I couldn't have been much more than 8 or 9 years old. Our family went to a county fair. One of our stops was at the stage where singers performed. We arrived early and got front row seats, which were eye level with the floor of the stage. The first singer was a female, whose name I can't recall.

When she was introduced and called onto stage, the first thing I noticed about her was her shoes. She was wearing a pair of what I now remember to be probably about 4 or 5 inches high. They were bright red stiletto pumps. I couldn't take my eyes off them. I immediately fell in love with high heels! I don't even remember what the singer looked like. I don't remember if she was short or tall, what color her hair was, what her face looked like, or what color her outfit was. I remember she had on a skirt which allowed a clear view of her high heels right at eye level. I didn't listen to her sing, all I did was look at her shoes. I watched every step she took and remember one time her ankle wobbled and she almost went down. From that day forward, I knew I wanted to wear high heels.

I remember trying on my mom's heels which she only wore on special occasions. They had a 2 or 3 inch heel if that. I liked wearing them in the house but couldn't wait to get a real pair of high heels of my own. I knew I was too young at the time, but starting at about the age of 11 I began pestering my mom to allow me to buy and wear high heels. She was a very hard no. She wouldn't allow me anything at all that represented a high heel. The closest I got to any high heel were clogs she bought me. They were regular clogs with maybe a one inch heel. But they were feminine to me and I wore them everywhere, every day!  I loved the click-clack of my clogs.

I kept pestering my mom for high heels and she finally conceded I could wear high heels once I became a teenager, on the condition I buy them. I was thrilled that I had a date and started planning right then. I knew I was still over a year away from becoming a teenager, but I would look at magazines for different types of high heels and trying to get a feeling for what I wanted to buy. At 12, I began babysitting and saving money. Almost all the money I saved went toward my high heel account; I spent very little on other things! I saved up quite a bit of money and could hardly wait until my 13th birthday. My mother put no restrictions on the shoes I bought. She said if it was my own money that I could buy what I wanted, but cautioned me to start off not buying anything too high. Of course I had different ideas. There was a store back in the 80's and 90's called The Wild Pair. They sold the sexiest shoes and I was absolutely in love with a pair that was in the window when I went to the mall.

As my 13th birthday approached I couldn't wait to go to the mall. I had saved more than enough money for the shoes I wanted. On my 13th birthday, I went to the mall and bought a pair of 5 inch stiletto heels with a metal spike on them, black. I had no idea what I was getting into! I bought a pair of knee high nude hose and when I tried on the stilettos I was totally in love. I stood and wobbled but I didn't care. I looked in the mirror and within 10 minutes I had left the store with my new shoes in hand. I went into the mall and sat on a bench and quickly changed into them. As I started to teeter-totter around the mall, I was surprised how steep the shoes were. I was also surprised at how slippery the floor was with the metal heels.

When I got home and walked in the house my mother saw the shoes and burst out laughing. She told me I wouldn't last 3 days in them. She said they were pretty, but I wouldn't be up for the challenge. This made me even more determined to wear these lovely, which I thought were sexy and not just pretty shoes!  I had school the following day and was eager to try them out.  (Here's what my first high heels from the Wild Pair looked like, except mine were black)

  11. I posted this originally in the For the Guys section, but then I decided to post it here as well. I am wondering if you gals agree with my theory (very unscientific)

Thanks all for participating. I wanted to explain a couple of questions. First the age question. Wow, I've heard a lot about that one. Let me explain my rationale behind that one. I am a hostess at a very upscale diner/restaurant. It's located in a section of the city with many banks, law firms, real estate offices, small corporations, and other businesses which tend to have workers who need to dress up. I see many women coming in and out in the course of a day. Not a day goes by where I don't get a comment about my high heels. One thing I've noticed is that many women will kindly tell me my heels look great but wait until I get older. I also hear comments from younger women about how their heels are killing them.

Over the past year or so I've been paying close attention to who says what (this led me to the survey). Here is a very generalized overview of what I had thought and I notice the survey is helping to confirm my theory.

    1) Most high heel wearers who complain about their shoes are wearing heels in the 2 to 3 inch range. Many of these women, I surmise, are wearing high heels because of the job they're in (implied dress code or societal pressure to present a certain look). I don't think many of these women want to wear high heels all the time but do it anyhow. Many times they'll have changed into sneakers to come in for lunch. I'm guessing their heels come off the second they get home and probably stay off all weekend.

    2) I am constantly told that I'll end up going into low-heels or very small heels or flats as I age. This comes from older women who tell me they used to wear high heels but couldn't hack it anymore and the same will happen to me. These ladies mostly are in the 55 to 65 year-old range.

    3) Women who tend to wear higher heels, 3+ inches, very rarely complain about their high heels. I have one customer who must be in her mid 60's who wears 4 inch heels everyday. We often chat about how much we love our heels and compliment each other on them.

What I'm getting at is that I believe when heel wearers really enjoy their heels they'll wear them higher and usually put some thought into their footwear. They've learned to get a proper fit, they take care of their feet, they get cushion pads for their shoes, they find a style (small platform in front or low cut vamp for example) that works for them and they go for it. They are passionate about their high heels. People who are wearing their lower high heels who don't really want to do it but feel some pressure to wear them probably don't put in the work to learn the finer points of high heeling!. Some women refuse to bend to any pressure to present a certain look and wear flats, which is fine.

The reason I put that age question in was to see if a lot of people who get to that age where they just can't take high heels anymore would give up their heels by around 60. My survey so far shows that very few people will give up wearing high heels when they get older. This makes sense because most respondents in my survey are high heel devotees who truly love them. (I've posted the survey to a few high heel websites including High Heel Place and Reddit High Heel Groups.)

So when you read about 70% of wearers find high heels uncomfortable or have developed foot problems from wearing them, I'll bet you that 4 out of 5 of those women fall into the 2 to 3 inch range who feel compelled to wear high heels. People who go above the 3 inch range usually don't have problems and my survey shows that. Very few respondents have answered "yes" to high heels being uncomfortable and even fewer reported having any foot/leg/back problems. And quite a few of these people are wearing 4 or 5 inch heels daily!  Probably in a survey of all high heels wearers, 75% say they'll give up high heels when they get older but that includes all heel wearers with all heights included have been asked. That number appears to come down sharply as you ask higher heel wearers only. So that is a very long explanation of why I asked the age question.

As for stilettos/spikes vs. platform/wedges, it's been my experience that women (I put women here because almost all my interactions about heel types are with women) usually break down heel types into one of those two categories. I realize their are many types of heels, but I believe in general heels can be classified as either having a thinner heel or a thicker heel or stiletto/spike vs platform/wedge.

In no way do I have any scientific evidence to prove anything at all. I just went with my intuition and wrote the survey that I thought would be interesting to study. I am sure there are problems with many of the questions but I'm not publishing anything. I will share with you in a post what the results are but that will take a little while to compile.

I've read it here before on this website and I'll say it again, "High heels, either you get it or you don't" and I believe many who don't wear them because they feel they have to which skews any results of a survey to separate the ones who get it with those that don't.  Thank you, Carol

  13. I've posted this survey on other boards as well. I'm hoping to get 250 responses and I'm up over 200 already. If you haven't taken the survey, please do so! Minimum: High heels 4 days a week or more and 3 inches or higher please. :cheeky:

  14. Hello ladies,

I decided to write a 20 question survey on wearing high heels. I am an avid daily high heel wearer and have been for years. I know a lot of women don't wear high heels daily, but on this site the percentage goes way up. For this survey I define high heels as 3 inches or higher and wearing them 4 times a week or more. It's confidential and only takes 2 to 3 minutes (Yes/No or Multiple Choice). I will be interested to see where I match up to other high heel wearers :fine:, but it's not a contest. I have posted the survey to other sites as well. I will report back if I get enough responses.  Here is the link:

  15. I came across this website, Pinterest account and YouTube videos for a lady who sends encouraging messages to women. Very inspirational. She loves high heels and uses her shoes as a platform to get her message across (no pun intended). She really rocks her heels!! You can find her at:

    www.judyshighheels.com

    Pinterest - Search for: Judyshighheels

YouTube - Here's a video which will get you to her videos. Just click on her little picture below the video.

  16. You may remember I posted links to an Internet friend of mine about her wearing high heels. She just posted some new videos on YouTube and I've provided the 4 videos. She dances and runs in 7 inch stilettos! I'm sure she'd love to hear some feedback on her videos. She is quite a gal!!

  17. To: JKrenzer, hoborob, Steve63130, 5150PLB1, swedeheeler, Bubba136,

I must admit that I'm surprised at your postings. This site has always been supportive of people. To bash someone like that who took a chance is very discouraging. s2005kz has been a member on the board for quite awhile and perhaps finally got up the courage to display what was nice in s2005kz eyes. You are basically shaming the person and that's not like this board at all. If you have any doubts about whether it's appropriate or not, then Report the posting and e-mail amongst yourselves. I've e-mailed quite a few of you on occasion and always got a very nice and respectful response. To see these replies to the posts is just disheartening. Thanks for hearing me out, Carol
