Ooooh! nice.....Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.....serious racing.

We only mess about in small stuff - Dart catamaran (similar to your Hobie cats) and windsurfs.

    Puffer

Not fire doors, just bl....dy heavy. Also went with 3 hinges per leaf.

Good tip with the batten jig.

  2. Thanks. Don't think I'll get on many construction sites in my oxfords though.....not exactly safety shoes!

Agree, difficult to preserve nails, but soon grow back. I find joinery work ok, apart from sanding, but general building instantly destroys them! Keep them short anyway over summer as do lots of sailing.

  3. New shoes and new doors

Been busy fitting some new doors this week.

Chopping out for hinges and breaking in my new oxfords. Feeling the strain after a few hours of lugging around 35kg doors!

Doors all stained and fitted. Good excuse to try my new pumps for size!

All 'seams' OK, so time to relax with a glass of wine and admire our new doors.

Finally found a pair of 120mm pumps at a significant discount at a Saks Off Fifth. I'd been considering Louboutins but could not get over the $700 price tag. These are Jimmy Choo Anouks in Acid Yellow. The color looks better in person, and I suspect by the time I am conditioned enough to wear these in public I will be able to sort out an outfit that works. The size is 40.5, and the toe area is snug, but I suspect the leather will fit my feet perfectly soon :)

Those are seriously nice pumps Rockpup. Love the colour and the style makes the heel appear taller than 120mm....clever. Hope you find an outfit to set them off.

Trieying out a pair of really skinny jeans, jeggings actually

not sure about them but there is NO hiding the shoes.

Might even wear them out for a try one day.

Looking good. Skinny jeans and heels are hot. Hope you decide to venture out, I'm sure you won't regret it, it's a real buzz.

Hi Aristoc - those boots are just awesome!  It must have been really cool wearing them in public.  I'm thinking or ordering some shoes from skyscrapers.  They say their shoes and boots fit small and recommend ordering a size bigger.  Did you find that to be true?

    Hi hpsabre,

Thank you.  Although Skyscraper do say on their site order a size bigger, personally I've found them fairly true to size. I do however prefer my heels, pumps especially, to be a snug fit to avoid that annoying gap developing at the back of the shoe. When new, they always feel too small but the leather uppers soon give a bit with use and then fit like a glove! I realise it's probably not so critical with boots so could easily go a half size bigger if concerned......Skyscraper now do half sizes in all their range even though not that obvious on the site.

As an example my foot length is 26 - 26.5 and find their size UK8 / EU41 is a nice snug fit (their UK9 is far too big on me). I do however, have on order some oxford shoes in UK8.5 from them, so will be interested to see how they fit - want to wear these with socks and skinny jeans over winter!

    Hope that helps.

    Hi yoyo,

Thank you. The boots are in black patent leather with a sort of small croc pattern pressed in.
