I too fell into that mold. These days, I have a lot of supportive friends, and the shops don't give me any hassle. I think it's because I'm in a larger city now, and not out in the middle of nowhere. If only I knew then what I know now...*sigh*...how many of us have wished THAT?

My only solutions have been through mail-order, or by going to the shops I trust to have good prices here locally. Luckily, I have not had much difficulty in getting good stuff. SQ

I wear my chunky styles outside, more for the endurance than anything else, but I do wear the rest of my collection out depending on the outfit and the mood I'm in. I haven't worried too much about people seeing me in them, but then again, who's going to mess with all 6'2" of me anyway? SQ

I, too, like platforms for the stability they provide. I just bought a pair of Demonia Ranger boots with a 3.5" heel and probably a 2.5-3" sole, so they're almost flat when it comes to incline, but they have a lot of toe-room, so I love 'em already! SQ

I usually wear a women's size 14, and sometimes depending on the style, I'd have to go to a 15. I'm just a victim of the dreaded "bigfoot" disorder. SQ
