  1. I have no idea how much that I spent on shoes in 2008. I can guarantee that it was NOT EVEN close to those women. I'm not even in the same ballpark as them. One shelled out 12 grand just for shoes? That is beyond my comprehension. Makes me wonder what their or their husband's income is for a year.

    Whatever turns them on.

I think I actually spent closer to £7000, but when you think about it that is under £600 every month. My salary is pretty good (not amazing I have to say), and I have a company car so that is one outgoing I don't have to budget for, it is just that I spend as much money as I can afford on shoes. I don't treat myself to anything else really, shoes are my main hobby.
  2. I don't really like NYE, so I'm just having a quiet night in with my sister and our friends. I will be wearing my Louboutin black patent Alto heels though - classy, high and they go with everything. No idea what I'm going to wear them with yet though.

    Happy new year everyone!

  3. any tips?

As you asked so nicely (?), it's just a natural progression really. I obviously spend a lot of time in heels so it just gets easier and easier. When you run it's really only your toes and the balls of the toes that really touche the ground, not really heels, so to me it doesn't really make much difference unless I'm going downhill.

Platforms like I say are more difficult, but I only wear stripper-style ones inside, and the ones I wear out are never more than 1.5"-2" tall anyway.

  4. Allow me to answer your question with more questions  How high are the heels that you have been strugging with? How long ago was it that you last wore them? I assume you didn't have problems with your legs being bent previously? What height heels do you normally walk in? How much time do you spend in heels? I had a pair of 9" shoes with 2" platforms and struggled at first walking like you describe but it got easier in time. It wouldn't surprise me if it was just ligaments needed coaxing into position or something like that. If you are struggling with 6" and normally wear 4" (for example) it might be worth bridging the gap with 5" heels and then moving up to 6". You will probably still have bent legs at first but eventually you should be OK.

  5. Yes, it's easy peasy. I can also run in my platforms, and have done so in my 8" Pleasers! I never have any problems in heels/plats up to 6", although it probably is dangerous in anything higher.

  6. Hey roz,

They are like the ones your sister got you, the YSL Black Patent Tribute Too with the 6" squared stiletto heels, the 1-3/4" hidden platform, and the turguoise sole and lining. I also want to wear them all the time. It is nice to know we share a feeling in common. I was watching a rerun of the Jay Leno's - The Tonight Show, which first aired on the 9th of Dec, 2008 and saw Kate Beckinsale wear the very same style. It was kind of a rush to know that we also shared a desire in having the same footwear.

This must be the most popular shoe style of the moment, they're gorgeous. I got the ones with sunshine yellow soles, really striking in their own way. I've seen Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, J-Lo and Lindsay Lohan all wearing them, and Lily Allen virtually lives in hers now!

Have you measured your heels, mine feel a lot taller than my original Tributes.

  7. Platform: 12 inch Non-Platform: 6 inch I only have size 5 UK feet so 6 inch without plats is about as high as I can go as my feet are vertical at 6 inch. I did have some shoes with a 7 inch difference in height and my feet were beyond vertical but have since sold them

  8. I went to Browns in London yesterday and managed to get a pair of Louboutin Trotte Avec Moi boots for £300, loads of really good deals in there on Louboutins so they're well worth looking at.

  9. Amazingly I have never fallen off my 12" heels and that's the truth. I can't believe it either! To be honest though they feel so much higher than anything else I have that I think I am super super super careful on them.

The problem with the 8.5" plats is that I am confident to the point I can skip and jump in them that I probably don't use as much care when wearing them.

I've obviously wobbled and twisted my ankle in normal shoes but not to the point I end up on the ground.

BTW found the posts about my previous accidents:

  10. I've fallen off my pole-dancer plats a few times, nothing serious, no biggie. Once I was on an unevenly paved patio, fell and totally smashed my shoes up. I think there is a topic where I posted a couple of pics too. And the other time I can think of is when I stood on the edge of a rug and came falling from the sky similar to how you said about the pebble. Neither time I've really injured myself other than a scrape here and there, but those are the only two times I can remember having a serious fall.

  11. Hey roz,

Fortune did smile my way, for I also got a pair of YSL Black Patent Tributes along with a couple of less noted brands. They fit so nice. I want to get another pair as soon as possible.

Tribs are always really comfy IMHO. Which ones are they? Are they the style I attached? Or are they Trib Toos? I never used to like them yet now they're a style I wear probably more than any of my other expensive shoes!

  12. Over here we have a similar situation to what you describe with Walmart (who do trade here under the name Asda) in that we have a superstore called Tesco. Everyone blames Tesco (a very, very successful British company) for killing the British high street/main street as people no longer visit green grocers, butchers, delis etc when they can get it all from under one roof with better service normally too (no quibble refunds, better opening hours etc). The Internet is also to blame too, especially with record shops like Zavvi. I think clothes shops will be fine, I sometimes order shoes online, but I love going out with my sister and touching and feeling stuff, even trying it on, before I buy. I think it is just quite gaulling the amount of shops closing at the moment, and with shops like Woolworths they have been such a peice of British history and now they're gone. Woolworths are even selling the shelves and fittings within their shops! There are a few stores that in the meantime will do well - Tesco will, budget supermarkets will, budget clothes shops like Primark will as well. Everywhere else will have to be really careful though. I suspect there will be more names to add to the list early next year too

  13. Hope everybody had a great Christmas! What shoes did people get this year? Saw Cinnamon's gorgeous Louboutins - what about everyone else? I got around 20 new pairs of shoes ranging from KG, to Top Shop, to New Look, to Barratts and everywhere in between. From my amazing sister I got some YSL Tribute Toos which she bought when we were in Paris (unbeknown to me) and smuggled back in her suitcase! They're in black patent and have bright bright yellow soles. From my amazing OH, I got another pair of Tribs, this time a new style with a suede upper. Kinda hard to describe, but I'll try and find a picture later. They're black with dark gold detail.

  14. It has been awful over here in the UK recently, how has it been in the US? Woolworths, a shop specialising in selling a bit of everything is closing down after nearly 100 years trading. They're selling literally everything, including the shelves and fittings The Pier, a really nice homeware chain is closing down. Zavvi, a CD/DVD chain with hundreds of stores has gone into administration (the stage before bankrupsy). Whittards (tea, coffee and gift stores) went into administration after 120 years. Fortunately this has been saved. Similar for Officers Club, a clothes shop. So many names and shops are closing, and there will be more in January too I expect after disappointing December sales. Most of this has happened just before Christmas with 30,000 Woolworths employees losing their jobs, and probably similar for Zavvi staff. Is it as bad in the US for shops? I know there aren't as many shoppers, but are high street names just vanishing?

  15. Most of the shoes have £10 or so off, so there are quite a lot of bargains in there. I don't know what they mean when they say it's a warehouse closing sale - I think it is just their way of clearing old stock for the new season and having a pre-Christmas sale - just the thing is many shops have 30-50% off posters in the windows they need some way to stand out. It's quite a risky move IMHO, although maybe it gets sympathy buyers in and get people like us talking. I can't imagine they're doing badly, they have cheep and cheerful shoes, so I would imagine more people are buying them instead of more expensive shoes. Hope so anyway, they're one of my favourite budget brands. Plus it would be a shame to see yet another high street store go:mecry: I'm not buying shoes for myself in the approach to Christmas as it is an unwritten rule between myself and my sister. I have done a list of shoes for her to buy, she for me, and we're also saving for a big blow-out in January (that's assuming there are still shoes left on sale!)

  16. Lots of cheap shoes at the moment in Barratts' Warehouse Closing Down Sale. Not sure what that means, if they are closing a warehouse or something to save costs or it it is just an attention-grabbing way of saying they have a sale, but if you have a chance go there and check it out. I can't as I'm banned from buying shoes in December, lol

  17. Wow, they're really nice. I'm so fussy with my Louboutins, I only buy them in classic black or purple (my favourite colour) but their patterned ones are really striking - good choice, and what a great price.

Nice shoes. what's the difference between the pigalle and the clichy?

Pigalle is taller I think and has pointier heels. The patterns and designs are also different I think.
