  1. Cinnamon - Not so much about being to apparent, but understanding women's expectations in general about the desired effect. I know so far it is the view of you and Amanda but then thats why I am interested in your views and feelings. For instance, how do you feel about what I am asking? Open-minded or somewhat shocked or horrified? If I flip the scenario, perhaps some women prefer metal for long life and less maintenance but dont want the attention that the sound ...demands. I remember a night out in London once when returning home late, she started tip-toeing alongside me down a silent street. I think I may be more inclined to look next time Cinnamon, knowing that its "compulsory viewing". I have spotted a few shredded hems in my time, faux pas and laziness duly noted! :santa_hat:

  2. I guess the same element you find in sharp suits and power dressing to a degree. Having said that, Cinnamon - your point about "demanding attention". Would you then think what people are looking at when they turn to look at you in a public area? I adore the sound too but I cant always find myself to look for that reason. Whats your view on things like ankle chains and also things that I have seen before - the shredded trouser hem. Fashion or faux pas? Thanks again for the insight and openness.

  3. Sorry, will have a go at rewording a bit. As you and Cinnamon mentioned about the sound of metal heels vs plastic heels, does the sound or lack of change you and how you feel. Say you had two pairs of the identical style, one with metal and one with plastic, and you switched between each pair on alternate days, would you feel any different all because of the sound? Hope that is clearer.

  4. And there was I thinking they would be like ice-picks getting you by! It is good to hear women like the sound too, does it make you feel any different if you had an identical pair of heels but you had to alternate between metal and plastic. Would no noise really change it that much? Sorry about all the Q&A, I am genuinely interested if not fascinated by your views and love of heels from a female perspective on the basis that heels are sometimes worshipped by women a la heels and handbag moments. If you know about the Professor Brantano ads, you will know what I mean ( I hope!) I'll stick to this thread instead if it saves you jumping between two threads?

  5. Thanks for the opinions, I know that there is that feeling of society etc, I guess thats a debate that can go one forever, especially the kilt / trouser / tie scenarios. Its always something I like to gauge from women who wouldnt criticise or gossip about especially if I went around asking them in the office. I guess its just a confidence thing really. Re the compliments, I am happy to say that I have complimented women before in the past on several occasions and I must admit, they are well received! As you rightly say, theyre used to receiving comments or stares for other items and at least I can be completely sincere about beautiful heels.:santa_hat: Well, there was that time when admittedly the heels were so destroyed by grates etc she admitted she was too lazy to get them reheeled!

  6. On the slippery note, I notice that there seems to be an impetus to wear heels (boots - to keep feet warm?) in the winter when it has been snowing or icy. Yet seemingly get about fine if not better than the casual flat soled public. Is there a "method to the madness" as it were? :w00t2: Another plus point for the metal tip perchance? :santa_hat:

  7. Hi Amanda and welcome. As you can tell, I'm a fairly recent member here too. I would like your opinion on why you would not be a fan of men wearing heels? PS Glad you love your heels in public, I havent got that far yet so you know how I would feel being liberated! Would you say women were accepting of compliments about their shoes? PPS Sorry if there is a topic elsewhere about what I have asked.

  8. Name: MetalTips of course! :santa_hat: Age: Past it Gender: M Location: England Occupation: Nothing at the moment, doesn't pay the boots, erm I meant bills! 9. Thanks to everyone for the welcome and the advice. TB2, yes I havent really got to the point of physically going into shops so have really depended on the internet. Maybe one day I will get to a point where I can have sales assistants running around for me! :w00t2: Had a quick look at Evans online and their boots look good but conscious of the rule that if you are a UK9, then you have to get one size up. Is that still the case or a myth? It has been a long time since my last purchase and that was an EU44 which seems to be perfect. Do people find sizing different depending on where you go? Thanks again. :santa_hat:

  10. Thanks Dr Shoe. I am just surprising myself that I have finally joined and thats as open as I have been! :santa_hat: I think my only question was where to get decent hh boots that cater for large calves. From looking at the posts, people seem to have a lot of luck with heels or is it just me reading the fortunate posts! I read from some posts that Duo are good, but then I find I then need EUR44 that they dont have. I have looked at Italian Heels and they seem to be the best place so far. Need some good knee or thigh but definitely not patent and trying to avoid having to get custom made. :w00t2:

  11. I brought a pair of thigh boots - Amanda style from Italian heels - I am normally a UK9 - I brought a european 44 which fit fine.

    They make brilliant boots!

Hi thighboots, can you tell me what the calf sizes are on the 44's as I was looking at those Amanda's a few months ago. Thanks.

  12. Well, I am new to the forum but have always loved wearing heels for as far back as I can remember, though no outings yet. Being from the UK, I would like to know where those boots are from as they are similar to what I have been looking for though can never find the right calf sizes. :santa_hat: Thanks.
